  1. Past hour
  2. I find the Frog tape to be just about the best for masking my models - I take the extra step of sealing the edge with a smear of WBPU to prevent any creep. Still need to be super careful taking the tape off to avoid liftin the paint though.
  3. As they say - one step at a time - and YOU will get there. Excellent progress 👏
  4. Posted December 29, 2022 Primer - I scuffed 38 micron gloss laminating film with a Scotch pad and then used Halfords plastic bumper primer in an aerosol - wouldn't scratch off with my fingernail. +1 As others have recommended although I used Halfords P B P both white and grey.
  5. I'd have a WR Bf110 in a heartbeat. I already have a similar sized scratch built Zerstorer (and an unstarted Flair kit), but having seem Ron's and others fly on video, I'm sure I could squeeze one into the BoB fleet.
  6. You can get it in paper form for £10 a year, 3 issues I think. I’m not sure when the next one will be sent out though. Brian.
  7. Cheers rr, I knew I had seen it somewhere, didn't think about bmfa news. Pity it's not in paper form these days, internet is really crap here, ee, phuee !
  8. Would it be worth offering the Bf110 again? Now that there is some interest from the FW 190 and Tempest? Maybe tweaking the design if needed? Just a thought.
  9. It’s BMFA News, not RCM&E, that carries Bill Kits’ box advert. Page 58 in the most recent printed version (February 2024). Brian.
  10. Me too, Growing up in the late 50's and 60's all the comics had war stories, Matt Braddock VC, 'Clicky Ba' and a regular dose of Commando comic books. Stir in Airfix and Roy Cross's wonderful artwork and hear we are 60 years on still building warbirds and with no wish to get it out of my system yet. It was a wonderful education.
  11. A lovely selection of of my favourite planes, Philip. Looks great!😀
  12. Well back from Sellafield today. Was going to charge the four batteries that I depleted at the weekend but maybe a bit early. They will only start dropping their levels again before Saturday so may as well leave them to nearer the time. Can't really be bothered doing anything more strenuous than that even though there are other things I could be doing. Here's to the weekend. Toto

  14. Both the 110 and 88 didnt disappoint and Ady flew his captured 88 in many competitions . He absolutely loved that model and Ron felt the same about his 110 . Of course, they are both excellent flyers , but you can see that these two have very nice manners . Having said that , we sold only about 15 Ju88s and maybe 25 Bf110s . Criminal really, considering the work that went in and how valued they were by those that flew them . I wont give up on the twin for the masses idea . It may be that a single pack , slightly smaller twin will win the day . The Mossie is the most awkward one , but it is without doubt the most popular .
  15. Good one Keith, make a change from the ME262 or over modelled A10 Warthog. Thinks; the plexiglas in the front might be a tad vulnerable in a less than perfect landing but it could always be painted balsa. Go on, build one and have the plan published in RCM&E!
  16. I was thinking we hadn’t heard from you lately just a day or two ago. Sounds like you’re making encouraging progress - hope you’re out and about before too long.
  17. First UK F3A competition of the season last Sunday at Hurley in Warwickshire, a great day's flying had by all, mostly in sunshine although not very warm.
  18. Good news Matty that your rehabilitation is moving on. Welcome to my home town, shout if I can be of any help.
  19. Well that was interesting if a little unexpected, finally stopped raining long enough to test run these engines back to back and get some rpm readings, the dc wildcat on a14x6 MAS and D2000 made 4,150,the first Sparey on the same made..............4,750 ! This was after some fettling that consisted of making a new cp,conrod, resized piston by 'cherry bombing and grinding a much finer taper on the needle valve, the other Sparey made only 4,200 rpm although the fits are a bit tighter so may need a bit more running in,so l think I will call these finished and a success and handedly enough, these arrived the other day....
  20. Please keep going. It's refreshing to see some real skills, albeit on a learning curve.
  21. Wow - that is on a whole other level to mine. Brilliant work! Will have to try something like that further down the road - thanks for the inspiration!
  22. Nice work Simon - that cockpit is a work of art. I used the thin ply and sheet balsa technique for the wing seating fillets on my Beaufighter, so will have to give that some consideration.
  23. Alright you lot......If I cant have my Japanese plane I'd love to see an Arado Blitz Ar234 with twin 50mm EDF's A hand launch and belly lander would be fine.
