  2. What length of permagrit block? if your'e sanding leading edge etc it is better to invest in one of their long blocks. Sand along the whole edge in one movement rather than little chunks. this should help to keep it even. Don't press down too hard. Sanding should only be done to remove high spots or removing small amounts of material. If your shaping the leading edge for example, I would firstly mark along the centre of the l/e. Use a razor plane to do the rough shaping and only use the sanding block for the final smoothing.

  4. Jus converting an OS 15 LA to diesel. I wanted to keep it the blue colour but ther was a fair ammount of burnt oncastor so had to soak it in some thinners to soften it and the blue painted finish came off in patches . So it was cleaned up and bead blasted to a nice silver . The Cylinder head on the LA is a square section so was a bit more tricky to match this . The Final result is quite good and should look very good once anodised . The LA felt good and when stripping it I was surprised to find that the chrome had come off the cylider ! Typical OS A new piston and liner is now fitted and the engine feels very bouncy when flicked over. More pics when anodising has been done

  5. Frsky was my first foray into 2.4gHz when I bought a plug-in module for an old Futaba FF7 Super. I later made a DiY Frsky module to use with Multiplex 3030 which was my usual transmitter on 35Mhz. I've since sold the Futaba transmitter and Frsky module but I still have the 3030 and the module I made. I've since has a couple of Taranis transmitters but my usual transmitter is a Horus X10 and I use that for just about everything - even my recently acquired Eachine mini T28 via a Jumper 16 multi-protocol module. So I have quite an investment in Frsky products but if asked today I don't think I'd recommend Frsky to a new user. I feel they have lost the plot and become customer hostile - even my 3 year old Horus is classed as obsolete. Geoff

  7. I just took a leaflet out of my mailbox, informing me that I can have sex at 85. I'm so happy, because I live at number 83. So it's not too far to walk home afterwards. And it's the same side of the street. I don't even have to cross the road!

  8. Time for some reflections after yesterdays maiden flight: CG was spot on at 150mm from the leaning edge at root The re-hinging, from bottom to top hinge on the second set of flaps gave me full authority over the aircraft The setup of butterfly for braking up before landing was also spot on. If flew very nicely, no bad habits on the first flight (20 minutes) The second flight had to be abandoned, due to the clevis attached to one of the main flaps snapped loose out of it's rudder horn. In the future I will bring spares. They are easy to replace and I have plenty. making a stronger horn will make repairing much worse and expensive It looks good in the air. Penetrates quite well. Keeps speed quite well too. Next is dummy engine pods with spinners! Looking forward to the next flight for this one

  10. Lawnmower, strimmer. most won't care even if a bit oily. I have been known to chuck a bit of castor in my Briggs and Stratton 4 stroke mower just for that old time smell.

  14. Luckily the community has come to the rescue there - prominent FPV Youtuber ItsBlunty has collated almost all the old firmwares on an open access Google drive. Well worth a browse and a bookmark... ?

  15. Another 2 books made it to the bottom end of NZ, from bondaero via youshop. Looks good, I look forward to getting my teeth into it proper in the next few days. Thanks Peter. I purchased a spare copy, so if someone else in NZ wants it, nz $50+ local postage, send me a PM, or I'll biff it on Trademe.

  16. Get a pack of these. Cheap as chips and emits a very loud noise once you switch your Tx off, making locating your errant glider very easy.

  21. This must be my slowest build ever! Fitting out, trim, and the other final details being done now. Control runs sorted at the back end: Nothing unusual there. The fueling arrangement is not particularly tidy, but it is functional, enabling me to easily get at the clunk line (the loop of fuel tube) and the vent line (poking out the side): If I'd actually been thinking about things earlier and planned the tank install better, I could have made a couple of holes in the underside of the tank bay and made a neater job of all that by keeping everything close in, and in a nice neat straight line. Live and learn. Canopy on, and cabanes finally attached and soldered. The red clips will all screw into the ply block to which the wing bolt goes into: Just the film trim to go now. Made a start on wing upper side: Need to deal with the tips, and the aileron area yet. Slicing and a bit of ironing. A similar scheme is planned on the tailplane. I might have a go at one of those Christen Eagle fuselage motifs. Wish me luck! Underside will be something contrasting. A few big black or dark blue patches. Something simple though, I haven't the patience to do a chequerboard.

  22. At the risk of adding more MC's - When I am not flying and the weather is ok I get to ride my Triumph. A true shed find + some shed boxes of bits + 4 years restoration work = 1975 T140V

  23. Sorry to say but the Neurons ESCs are just as bad. The sensors need to be deleted and then new sensors added because the new version no longer recognises the existing sensors. It makes what was quite a simple task a pain in the ?.
