  1. Hi All, The wings are now complete with the tips added, shaped and the whole panels sanded down. With the sheeting I opted not to make the entire sheet first but to fit them individually and making the servo boxes as I went and freeing the ailerons to sheet son their own. Both panels done along with leading edges added. Wing tips added, shaped and sanded ailerons dry fitted. Yes, the power cables have pulled out on the rear panel, thanks to the large holes in the ribs they were easy to reinstate at this point in time. I have offered up one of the motors to see how to fix and cable run. The mount will have to be turned so the fixings will not conflict with the locating lugs on the nacelle sides but these will have to be notched to allow the captive nuts/bolt to fit. Not sure if I would be happy with only two fixings per motor. Next, it will be the construction of the nacelles That's all for now Regards Robert

  2. With flying shots out of the way the pressure is off so I have been pushing it a little more this morning. With the extra angle of attack sat on the ground there is no no need to pull the rotors back in the normal way, a quick flick in the right direction and about half throttle will soon get it in the air. In fact, on a couple of occasions I did nothing other than set the throttle, it was ROG without any other input from me. I was going to try and capture some footage of this but my camera is mounted to the top of my transmitter, maybe next time. It easily does loops on the 4max set up by simply adding full throttle and a touch of rearward tilt, backing off the throttle on the downward arc. Rolls are achievable too, though they are more of a barrel roll as you will see, full roll and full rudder in the same direction are needed without backing off the throttle at full chat. It does a funny kind of spin with full rudder set at about 45 degrees, I can almost maintain height with power applied and a little rearward tilt. Calm all of the controls down and its a docile as any other trainer type but stronger. The sky was grey up at the patch this morning but I did grab some footage of the loops etc, as you will see I ended up doing the rudder spin a little to low breaking the fin off. Luckily this just unbolts off and is easily replaced, of course I hadnt got a spare with me! Rich

  3. Although my main interest is building and flying RC aircraft, I sometimes like to go back to the early days and do a bit of free flight. Since losing our old flying field the club has now got a new field which is very large so I hope to be able to use it for a bit of free flight. My old Vic Smeed "Miss 38" was looking very tatty so I decided on another of his designs and bought a plan of " Mam'selle'. I have used my ED bee as a power unit and am now waiting for a calm evening to test it.

  5. Thanks once more for the 'double' job, John P. Congrats to Pete for his really great score. ? Comparable to John S, I lost 2 drivers & 2 cars from my team in that first lap... bis repetita, after the Silverstone 'issue'... C'est la vie... ? IRL, it's really a shame that VET lost the result of that splendid drive in Hungary. To all > enjoy your summer break & see you in Spa Cheers Chris

  6. OK, take 2! The scores have now been revised in light of Vettel's disqualification. So our results from Hungary now look like this; Pos League Rank Team Manager Pts 1 9 2 Revers Racing Pete B 200 2 8 2 teewrex John Tee 155 3 12 0 The JP Specials johnpflyrc 142 4 1 0 Pitts Specials john stones 138 5 13 0 DMFC Racing Team Simon Webb 135 6 10 1 Norfolk Flyers Kevin Fairgrieve 117 7 6 0 PSS Power Flyer 116 8 5 0 Igoronic racing iqon 112 9 2 0 GASTON Formula Chris McG 104 10 11 3 Torque of the devil Stu 103 11 3 1 Essex Racing Tony Clark 100 12 7 0 Team Charles Picd Charles Pic 88 13 4 1 Oyster f1 Glenn Philbrick 75 Pete still takes top spot, but now with 200 points. John Tee is still second, now on 155, but I sneak past Ade to take third on 142 points. What about the overall table? Well the top 8 are unchanged from what we had yesterday, but there's a bit more activity below 8th; Pos League Rank Team Manager Pts 1 1 0 Pitts Specials john stones 1659 2 2 0 GASTON Formula Chris McG 1603 3 3 1 Essex Racing Tony Clark 1461 4 4 1 Oyster f1 Glenn Philbrick 1455 5 5 0 Igoronic racing iqon 1450 6 6 0 PSS Power Flyer 1415 7 7 0 Team Charles Picd Charles Pic 1377 8 8 2 teewrex John Tee 1365 9 9 2 Revers Racing Pete B 1350 10 10 1 Norfolk Flyers Kevin Fairgrieve 1339 11 11 3 Torque of the devil Stu 1326 12 12 0 The JP Specials johnpflyrc 1208 13 13 0 DMFC Racing Team Simon Webb 1123 Pete's win is now rewarded with a move upwards of 2 places to 9th. Kev still drops one place to 10th, but Stu loses out further, slipping 3 places instead of 1, now down to 11th. All this could, of course, change again if Aston Martin appeal and that appeal is successful. No appeal has yet been confirmed, though A-M did indicate yesterday that they intended to appeal. Hopefully all will be resolved - one way or the other - before the end of the summer break!

  9. When I did my Riot, I used one of those small disposable knives (the ones with the blade that you pull out and snap off). Pulled it out 'till it was about an inch and a half long (that's 38mm for those watching in colour) and kind of worked it down and around the nose weight. Then a bit of pulling and twisting, and out it came. Kim

  10. Indicators ? In North Kent? A large number of drivers have obviously missed any instruction on using them or they think they are in a " indicator free zone "?

  11. Non, it came to a fiery end, a friend 3D printed it I waited 3 weeks and it took him around 2 days to print so I passed this time, sadly this is what is now in, maybe a bit of touch up painting. I took another photo of the pilot,, Why the engine mouldings are originally painted black and the valve pushrods white I will never know !.

  12. It might have flown today ? Went to the strip, ran it up, all seemed well, so took off. Two circuits and back down as it was badly out of trim, and not being familar with the radio yet (this was also the first flight with the TX16S) best adjusted on the ground. Ended up with 3 flights, starting to feel comfortable at the end. Plenty of power/speed. Still a few minor tweaks to do, hopefully have the spats completed in about a week, which will be the last and then it is formally complete.

  13. If you remember in my reply ref. dongles and flight sims I advised you to ignore the CDs and install Phoenix from the internet. The reason I suggested this is precisely the problem you've had!! If you're not computer savy these CDs are a minefield, and don't forget the programs on them are rip-offs. Concentrate on a reliable, supported product (Phoenix) and forget the others and remember that you're trying facilitate your learning to fly, not to increase your computer knowledge. Good luck and enjoy Silverstone ?

  14. Knackered after a couple of weeks at over 35°c and 30°c in my garage, precision isn't something that I am worried about, I cut the engine cowling out and leaving plenty of room for ventilation, and I have started cutting out the false engine, why is it painted black ?, a sneak view of my old 3D printed Hellcat engine that was shot down by a moving tree ,

  17. These certainly build into an impressive model - our club chairman Sandy has built one and I saw it fly yesterday for the first time -lovely long ROG from short grass and a majestic appearance in the air, with a backdrop of the Scottish hills. With the dark clouds it could almost be the North Atlantic in some of the pictures.

  18. Hi John, It was a Topp (German) kit. Foam wings in a warbird are a bit of a nightmare once the large wheel wells are cut out. In retrospect, built up would have been quicker. Glass fus is nice - although hard to repair when the inevitable happens. Haven't weighed it, It balances with no ballast and all the gear right up by the firewall, that's all that matters ? It has had several flights before the paint was applied and seem to fly well

  19. Built form a kit found at the Nats swop meet a few years ago, an 80inch FW190 with Zenoah 26. Winter scheme chosen to make it easier on the peepers under a grey sky! Ki

  20. Well, they used to let us out of school early because of fog (early 1950s) when the bus conductors were walking in front of the bus to guide the driver and fog so thick, as a pedestrian, you could walk into a lamp post. There were terrible mass vehicle pile ups on the M1 near us near Trowel services because of dense fog. It's never that bad now. Geoff
