  1. Well done David, it certainly stirred up a lot of interest at the model field like Bees around a flower, I watched the (rubbish)video that I took as shaky as a leaf in the Mistral, and the gust of wind that threw it in the air at take off, it certainly is a sturdy flyer and crowd puller.

  2. Well today was the day! I was able to test fly the Condor. It is definitely an improved model. After the flights the Tx trims were all still at "neutral". Take-off was good and a landing was no problem either in spite of a fair breeze a bit off the axis of the runway. Looks like just one 3700mah Lipo will give 5 minutes of mixed flying which is not unreasonable. One could use a larger capacity lipo but it would need to be located further back in the fuselage to avoid the model being nose-heavy. It was definitely worth repairing the model and making the modifications which have very much improved the flying characteristics of the model. Losing the gyro and shedding 450g of weight together with tweaking the top wing incidence was a good move it seems! Thanks to Paul for getting some video of the flight.

  3. Nearly done now, just got the exhaust, a bit of undercarriage detailing and the wheels to paint. My scheme is that of Lores Bonney, she attempted to become the first woman to fly solo from Australia to England, her first attempt ended in a forced landing in a storm and much damage to her Moth. Whilst it was being repaired Amy Johnson did the trip but in the opposite direction. Undeterred Lores flew Australia to England to be the first solo woman to make the trip in that direction, her aircraft was named My little ship. Pictures taken today just before i flew it again.

  4. Evening all, Saudi Arabia this weekend, and despite a missile attack on a nearby oil facility the GP is going ahead. So, time for my usual reminder; Don't forget your predictions! Both P1 and P2 have been headed by Leclerc from Verstappen. Hamilton could only manage 9th in P1, but got 5th in P2 behind the Ferraris and Red Bulls. Vettel again misses the race due to Covid, with his seat at Aston Martin taken by Hulkenberg. Qualifying is at 5pm UK-time on Saturday, with the race at 6pm after the clocks go forwards overnight. Good luck, everyone!

  5. It's all true!! No word of a lie...this morning taking my lorry ( 27t gross,13m long) down a narrow lane with passing places. Lady on school run drives up onto the verge ....not wanting to waste a second .. and parks her Range Rover in a 4' ditch. Luckily I was there to pull it out ?

  7. I personally have owned large 4x4 7 seaters for many years. I would like it to be known that at no time have I ever done a "school run". They are extremely useful vehicles where I live and I have used them on many a "rescue mission" like Cymaz. Some years ago I made an interesting discovery (no pun intended). If you remove the (useless) rear 2 seats you can get more models in the back !

  8. I used have to pass my local village school in the morning. There was a lane coming out at the side of the school. Mothers used to pull out of this lane regardless of anyone on the main road. I fitted wind tone horns on my Reliant. That didn't just stop them...It made them back up the lane before they even looked to see what was coming. Oh happy days!!

  9. I think they're a standard size stand off Nick. Try Essentra or TR Fasteners, they have most things Graham

  11. Very sorry to see the model in more pieces than it should be. At least they are big pieces! Looks like with some time and patience it can be rebuilt to fly again. Having been in similar situation recently I sympathise. Good luck with the restoration.

  12. Here's another example video. Looks to me like the main issues are a) not burnign your fingers with the heat gun, and b) the cost of the balsa plug now it's more valuable than unicorn poo! ?

  13. People do say that moulding plastic drinks bottles into a canopy is quite easy, although I've not tried it personally...

  14. Had the maiden flight yesterday of the Seagull Boomerang and everything went well. Due to bad weather and ill health, I'm just getting round to it now. I'm very pleased with the way it flew and the Saito 62 was a good power match. When I brought it into land, it touched down nicely. The larger wheels made a difference. I'm looking forward to get flying again with it very soon. Thanks for all the advice from you guys on this site. ?

  16. What a great shame, I love my 120 and 240v, brilliant engines, but then so are all the other Laser engines I have!

  17. Just worked out why it appears so clean - I use flash on the camera as the light is so poor at the moment. Adding lower wing fillet sheeting, 1/32" ply and fixed with Gorilla Glue which expands so it will hopefully force the ply against the wing as it sets as well as fill any gaps. Wing has been covered with cling film prior to the glue being added.

  19. Voyager 1 eventually left the solar system and is still travelling away from us. It carries various messages, etc. in case it is ever intercepted, is still active and reports back to us. Part of the onboard messages, as well as a map of how to find us on earth is (I think) a copy of 'Roll Over Beethoven' as well as some more 'classical' music. Apparently a message was recently received, which when translated, said - "Send more Chuck Berry!"

  20. At long last I finally got to maiden flight my new Boomerang today at the field and I wasn't disappointed. It flew as a steady as a rock and came in for a nice smooth landing. The Saito fourstroke just added to the pleasure. I'm glad I bought the Boomerang, it handled the light winds very nicely. I would recommend this trainer to anyone looking for a nice relaxing flight.

  21. Great company to deal with. The presentation looks very like their tiny Tiger Moth - I found the booklet and plan were just fine for that, using YouTube was a last resort, but never needed!

  22. Alas poor 120, we knew him well, But like the 240, it did not sell. With the right size prop it came alive, But wasn't as nice as the 155. Laser 120 RIP. Send no flowers.

  23. So, a bit more on the fuselage. The front hatch was a bit of pain and I'm not super happy with the fit, but it'll probably be ok. Just waiting for some model-lite filler. I want to get the fuselage as near as possible to complete before I move on to the wing. Still undecided on foam vs built.

  27. This is how it looks after the 3rd flight, cause as yet unknown. When I get it back together I may find out why it went into a flat spin on the climb out.
