  1. Getting quite close now, "Spinach and Custard" just needs a pilot figure and some lettering 🙂 Still pleased to say, none of the silver has even hinted at lifting! Cheers Danny

  2. Evening all! It's a Sprint qualifying weekend this time, in Austria. So first, the usual reminder... Don't forget your predictions! P1 saw Verstappen posting fastest time, ahead of Leclerc and Russell with Perez 4th and Hamilton 5th. The qualifying for tomorrow's sprint race saw Verstappen taking pole from Leclerc with Sainz 3rd. Perez finished Q3 in 4th place, but was later disqualifed for exceeding track limits in Q2. He will start 13th. Both Mercedes crashed in Q3, leaving Russell starting tomorrow's race in 4th (promoted from 5th) and Hamilton 9th (promoted from 10th) The Sprint race is at 3:30 pm (UK time) tomorrow, with the race at 2pm on Sunday. Good luck - and get those predictions done!

  3. A bit of progress on the Fury It was originally going to be silver and i have used scale like litho panels all the way down the fus. Until i got to the nose. I just could not get those compound curves to look right. In fact, they were horrible. So after numerous attempts, i abandoned that scheme and went for 217/M of the SAAF which was stationed in Ethiopia between 1940 until 1944 when it was eventually destroyed. This aircraft saw action against the Italians, one of only a handful of Furys that saw action in WW2 in RAF colours. Lots more to come but some real progress after a very prolonged house move.. PS I know the camo scheme isnt correct but I can blame that on duff info on the Internet ...

  4. Thanks Steve, we will be looking at the ads today, hopefully a quick fix. The login button is there just to give people a head start if they don't know to go to the forum first. The main site is now running on Wordpress rather than Drupal. Although this is the new site, the version of Drupal it was running was coming towards end of live and to update it would have been some really major work which we couldn't complete in time. We are here and listening, so any problems, let us know!

  6. Well I am only too glad to be a member of the elite CAA and have my operator number on the front door of my house in foot high letters! I feel so much safer with the knowledge that I am all registered. I would gladly sell all my models and flying equipment if it would help the CAA. All the crime and safety incidents that they have protected us from, is holding the UK together. It clearly put paid to all those incidents of unregistered drone flyers dropping drugs into prisons and shutting down airports; not to mention all the "peeping tom" activities that have been irradicated by the registration process. Sorry to be so sarcastic; but we did all see it coming. It was bad legislation, introduced so they can sell the airspace to Amazon and Google for drone deliveries when the time comes. Remember when the Government sold parts of the radio spectrum to Mobile phone companies. This made them Billions of pounds. When the tech is ready they'll sell the airspace over our heads we model flyers will be kicked out of the air. I sincerely hope the CAA will lose heart with this scheme but I doubt it. KB

  11. In a quiet place Jeff, you can set the low needle with a piece of fuel tube on the carb, long enough to blow down. Set the barrel on low idle, by hand, about 20-25% open. Blow down the tube and you may or may not hear the air hissing. Open the slow jet, turning counter clockwise, to hear a hiss While blowing, turn the low needle clockwise slowly, - slowly - Until the hissing just stops Then open very slowly until the hiss just starts again You are now very close to the correct low end tune Fuel up and tune the top end for full chat and he amazed you can get back to tickover

  12. Sorry guys , something came up that kept me from the next step...Well , in a build like this , there is always something coming up !! I found that the space where the flaps and ailerons are coming needed some extra attention. The wings are ''open'' at the back to allow a very small gap between wing and moving parts. this means that the size of the woodwork in this area is crucial for a perfect fit. Anyways its fixed now and i ''dry''fitted the two wings (shells taped together )onto a alu joiner and the fit is perfect ! the trailing edge parts all line up in a straight line (no dihedral )exept for the '' build in'' washout Another small step but i'll sleep better now ! Tomorrow is cleaning up day , and no promisses now !!

  13. From an original by Roger Bale, circa 1998, to this:- # I wonder what happened?? To this 121 " span, zenoah 80 power and 38lbs! Strictly non aerobatic, it 'preambulates with purpose' The flag can be raised in flight and the Nav raises his hand to the onlooker In terms of storage and transport, its a bit of a monster!

  15. Well as you all know my Chippy bit the dust, and as I liked it so much I bought another. Unfortunately my chums at Webbies only had the Spinach and Custard variety. I decided to follow Ady's route and do a respray. It has been very interesting as I tried some things that should not have worked but did work very well. I used Klass Kote straight over the film, with no scotch-brighting, or prep at all. I still have a few things to do, but is airworthy as is, if I taped the canopy on..... The story so far can be found on my YouTube channel, Spinach and Custard Cheers Danny

  16. Hi Robert, just come across your build, looks really nice. I liked the look of the Sunderland, so at the start of the first lockdown sent for one and began to build during the lockdown. Here are a couple of photos of my finished one.

  18. A flap didnt deploy and i didnt have enough aileron to hold it, the servo slow meant it had crashed before i got the flap back up. Stuff happens.... i was able to salvage the tailplane, though it needed a repair to the skins Cheers Danny
