  1. Thanks John, this really is the thread that keeps on giving
  2. Hi Darren, I've been using the ferret tonight to bag me some more bargains and noticed that Google came up with a few other options. Next time you are adding more sources, please can I request you include these if possible. Micron Radio Control http://www.micronradiocontrol.co.uk Electric Wingman https://www.electricwingman.com 3DXR https://www.3dxr.co.uk
  3. Thanks for taking the time to scan and post the picture Jesus, greatly appreciated. It's really good to see the JDM Lanc in a place it was meant to be; rather than my pic of it in museum storage.
  4. Thanks for the photo Eric, good to see it as it's intended use. I can't confirm if the design was 2 or 4 active engines but I can recall being told in the shop they were from chainsaws. I had just assumed it was all four.
  5. Had to check my archived notes, as I don't have the Alula anymore. I think I sold it in at the 2014 Weston Park swapmeet. I had my CoG set 25mm back from the leading edge with some positive reflex in the elevons.
  6. What can I say...? The Ferret has a new fur coat and it looks and works better than before. Thanks for your time on it Darren, much appreciated. The tesxt filter search to refine the results is a great feature. I tried to add a second filter but would only allow me one (me being greedy!). Is www.totemhobbies.co.uk worth adding?
  7. Hi Darren, is there a problem with the feed to www.rcferret.co.uk from Nexus Modelling Supplies? I noticed they were missing from most of my search results (not all). As a test, I searched for a servo 'QZ601', knowing Nexus have 2 in stock @ £37.99 each but didn't get Nexus in my results (all stores, no exclusions). Only Pegasus, TJD & Slough RC returned matches in test. Thanks for your support.
  8. Hi Darren Sorry to learn about your employment problems at the moment, I'm sure that won't last long and you will be very busy soon. Then again, it's a win win for the RC community, so thanks for looking at the site and giving the gears a little oiling. I'm still a regular user myself and did think it was fetching less results than it used to, but then again, I also put that down to a few of the listed shops being out of business. Despite all this, it was still saving me time and money when searching for items. I look forward to seeing it develop in the near future. Thanks again! If I think of a store to add, I will drop you a PM. PS: Just tested it and yes, quite a difference! An item that I've been having trouble finding is now returning in the results. Brilliant!   Edited By Allan Bowker on 04/06/2020 01:27:42
  9. Hello Mike I'm happy to help out with admin tasks if you need a hand Just drop me a PM.
  10. Thanks Mike Do you still want forum members to submit requests to add/modify/delete entries?
  11. Hello Mike I went to use the map today but the link was broken. Has the site been taken offline?
  12. Thanks Darren, the site has saved me a lot of money over the years and helped me buy hard to find items by being able to search each shops stock. If you can check that their feeds are still updating your site, that would be really helpful, thanks. It did seem more recently that the same few shops were cropping up and others no longer being included. Although that may have been due to the lack of stock in these unusual times. @Ron Gray Make sure you have visited the SETTINGS menu on the top right of the website. Untick any EXCLUDE FROM RESULTS and check mark SAVE SETTINGS TO COOKIE. If this fails, try a different browser or another PC? There is also an app available to download for iPhone. Long live the Ferret
  13. Just wanted to bump this thread, such a great website, especially while we are all dependant upon online ordering.
  14. Hello Alexander, thanks for reviving one of my favourite threads, for me it was a satisfying adventure! I'm also glad that I documented my original question and progress from May-July 2012 as some months later I was listening to a guy in a shop claiming to have found the wherabouts of Jim's Lanc himself. You really can't believe the cheek some people! Hello Peter From my distant memory I recall not all models made it into the shipping container that got sent to the USA. I think some were redistributed into the modelling community or discarded as waste. Back in 2012 I found some info on the RCMF forum about Goosedale's closure and fate of the models, however I can't find the page now to link to. You could try contacting SFO Museum, their contact details are on page one of this thread. I would imagine they don't have many model helicopters and would appreciate some background info if they have the Lark.
  15. Hi Robert, thanks for your interesting question. For me the aim of the map was to be fully inclusive and not split the forum in any way. The map is easily navigated and zoomed into your area of interest, wherever than may be. Sorry, I missed one of your points: Anyone could add a point to the map, member of the forum or not and even if they only read the magazine. I think my intentions were to illustrate our local and global communities.   Edited By Allan Bowker on 30/12/2019 14:10:10
  16. Hi Chris Agreed, for security it was recommended that the members placed their pin in the general area so as not to make them a target for theft. All pins were manually added by the forum members and was not automated or created from harvested data. It's important that participation is down to each person to decide. Would be nice to open the map back up if I can find a solution to the editing access problem RCM&E Forum Members Map
  17. Thanks for the suggestion eflightray but the RCGroups Map is powered by Taboola and is not a free service. It also doesn't allow users to make submissions to the map for acceptance by a moderator, it only maps the geo-locations of the internet ISP you are connected to and by nature is not very accurate.
  18. ---REPOST DUE TO FONT SIZE ISSUES ABOVE--- Hi Robert The original map was global and included the US. Unfortunately the service was taken down, possibly due to costs. I still have the original map data, however I'm struggling to find a mapping service that would work for our purposes at no cost. For now all I have is this link where the data was moved to: RCM&E Forum Members Map My problem is that Google only seem to give read only or full edit access. I need to find out how I can moderate submissions to the map to avoid any malicious editing.
  19. Nice to know, thanks. I'm currently flying from Chase MAC as the field is very open and more suitable for large aicraft that need a longer strip.
