  1. Gosh, amazed at the number of closed minds. We all thrive on knowledge from whatever source. FB is no different than this forum and you can ignore the posts that don't interest you. Why am I continuing in this thread ??????
  2. You can learn and communicate a lot on Facebook exactly like this forum. One kart club I was associated with raised a considerable amount of cash through a Facebook appeal. So Wilco, get a LIFE.
  3. Thanks Bob, it is a felt clunk so will take your advice which really answers the whole question of how to recycle fuel.
  4. Gave the ASP a run without pressure feed and it appears to be running ok so thanks for that suggestion. Have yet to tweak this engine so further experimenting worth it. I will more than likely take the million to one chance rather than an extra £35+ for a pump on an experimental project. Will drain tank into a separate container and reuse on next fill up rather than contaminate good fuel. Thanks all for advice.
  5. I have a 1000 and an 800. Managed to wreck the 1000 fuz so made a replacement out of a mould with fibreglass, my first attempt. Both have been converted to electric and are brilliant fliers. Please post photos of your build.
  6. I thank you for the advice and suggestion. From JE "Plumbing the exhaust into the tank has been a question for many years from way back in the early 70's but I have never heard of an incident wherein a fuel tank exploded. Webra sell a 150 spark engine and it is supplied with muffler pressure so it is not a concern to them. The hot gas would not be a problem but carbon might be however, I would consider the chances in the million to one odds maybe even better. Besides, methanol is not too slow igniting with a hot glow look at glow plugs and we have been pumping hot gas into methanol for a long time. I would be prepared to say not a problem." Its how I recycle fuel or just run dry?
  7. Unable to find any answer resulting in this post. Have recently converted a Saito 45,4# and ASP 61, 4# to petrol with Pegasus CDi ignition I am impressed by how easily the engines start and run but at the moment only test bench. The Satio is in an old cub ready for a test flight, weather permitting. I notice that the petrol remaining in the fuel tank is very discoloured due to the exhaust pressure feed. Obviously the engines run on this fuel but on completion of running I have contained this fuel in a separate container and not recycled. Can I ask how you petrolheads deal with this? Not considering a separate pump even if available.
  8. Thanks for the info Denis. It looks very localised and as it is not my pride and joy, no big problems. Will not mention at there FF as will give ammunition from the all electric brigade.
  9. My first venture into petrol and in my newly covered Cub I had a major petrol leak within the Fuz, I now notice that the covering is starting to have an orange peel effect from the inside out. Yes I should not have spilled fuel but could I have sealed the tank/engine bay to prevent this and with what ??? As an aside I converted an old Saito 45 to petrol with a cheap Pegasus ignition system and am very impressed. Hopefully maiden tomorrow provided the creeping disease awaits.
  10. The power On and Standby LEDs appear to do the same thing?   Edited By Hamish on 09/12/2017 17:27:55
  11. I have ordered from two locations on the same order, only difference was it showed separate amounts for postage.
  12. I am very lucky in that my LMS, Scoonie Hobbies, in Kirkcaldy, stock plenty fuel and balsa. I am amazed at the turnover in balsa as it suggests all is not lost in the scratch build or whatever. Delighted you found a supplier.
  13. "the problem had revealed its self." Is this a clue? Engine is out and on the bench which tends to eliminate fuel line, pressure feed. Not an engine guru but after only three minutes would doubt sufficient oil had accumulated to cause problem. Will wait in anticipation for answer.
  14. I had an early Spektrum DX6 with the single AA batteries which failed to contact resulting in my Nebula glider doing a perfect flight of about a mile and landing on a barn roof with no damage done. Replaced battery pack with NiMi soldered in. Although annoyed I was delighted that the model was in perfect trim and flew on its own, never managed that with power models as they just want to dive to terafirma. Like previous posters I have mistaken the on/off switch for down trim and switched off. Why do Tx manufactures not make the on/off a horizontal action?
  15. Only done it a few times , on my own, using a bungee. Down elevator to get it up and then up elevator or fly past bungee to get off. Models did not have ailerons. Does being towed by a tug make much difference? Edited By Hamish on 07/05/2017 10:43:57
  16. When did you last read Highway Code? Vender should have made purchaser aware, but sales over web make this unrealistic, although you would expect a written guidance note with purchase.
  17. I appreciate what has been posted but would suggest that rather than berate individual we should inform. In this case the guy was prepared to learn. On the subject of keeping up with regulations, when was the last time you read the Highway Code?
  18. No problem splicing. Have you soldered before?  Edit.  Would use heat shrink at joint. Edited By Hamish on 29/04/2017 21:40:08
  19. Thanks Percy as I could not find specific model. Same suggestion of a Y lead would still stand?
  20. Are you sure you mean rudders? Suggest it could be split elevator. The third servo would be to operate the rudder. Each servo will connect to Rx in separate ports. (Advice from expert as elevator servos can be power from one port with a Y lead ) Edited By Hamish on 29/04/2017 21:20:40
  21. David, thanks for responding. Comment was made about the servo your were using and I basically questioned why I would need a metal geared servo for an operation that is very lightly loaded.
  22. A bit disappointed that no advice being given as I thought that was what build blogs were for?
  23. Similar to David I will be using a micro servo for the throttle as there are no major forces to overcome. Why should a standard type servo be used?
  24. Plummet, as I understood the instructions, glasses are not to be worn for a photo as if you come through the automatic lane at border control, then the camera recognition system wishes to see you eyes. Must admit I found the auto channel no quicker than the human scrutiny, partly as me, like many others, did not read properly the instruction about inserting my passport into the reader.
