  1. Just because you mention a Ju52 a few posts above - was on a business trip last week - and this is what I saw at Nuremberg airport The funny thing is it even has a Lufthansa badge - when I fly with this airline I get only on boring Airbus planes VA
  2. Happy anniversary BEB. I am close to my first anniversary now - well - I had a 25th a few years before About the wind: didn't drop... windy it was on Saturday, but you can either stay at home or go out and fight the wind.... Had my boy over for some flying, so no excuse... My e-flight Extra was bouncing about like an indoor foamy - and who knows this plane will agree that it is not too light, especially on 4C4000 batteries. Took me 4 trials at the approach - all in one piece. But after 2 flights I switched my activity from flying to watching the others My boy was cheating - flying a TR 550 and a TR 600 nitro he didn't feel the wind much. But he had also his exciting moment - the OS55 in the 600 decided that the set-up was to lean and stalled after some 5 min flight - but the young guys have the right reaction - brought it home by auto rotation - not a scratch. 3. When I lived in Italy I went to heli smackdown on the beach - which was in Rimini - from Casatenovo near Milan, where I used to live. This was 224 miles.I also went to Faszination Modellbau in Friedrichshafen, Germany (near lake constance), even crossing Switzerland and a part of Austria this was only 212 miles. Now in the UK both Greenacres and the nats are 80 miles only.Getting lazy as it looks.... VA
  4. Hope we are not looking at the time between purchasing and maiden - this would put me right at the back as I still didn't find the time to put a model together which I have purchased in late 2013.... Otherwise I suppose a week if there is not particular trouble. this allows to learn about all the parts and to use slow epoxy (12h) which gives you plenty of time to adjust... And some of them I built more than once - then it goes faster - the little Seagull Edge 540 EP I built 3 times (tells you about my flying qualities...)   VA Edited By Vecchio Austriaco on 01/04/2015 13:55:37
  5. So now I am looking forward to see what it is I bought - they say 16 on the website and you Keith got 18 - would prefer that of course. Truth comes out tomorrow at 10 - this is when Maplin opens... VA
  6. Just got the virus from you guys and ordered Turbo cad 16 deluxe from Maplin for 7.99. I did play around a bit with Autocad in my job some years ago 16 years ago ??? Yes I am an old guy and have the feeling that I did work already too long - but as it looks I have another 9 years in front of me - and there is an engineering background. So no excuse then Will keep you informed when I throw my nerves away and destroy the pc.... - thanks god I have the forum also on my phone... VA
  7. Used a Seagull Edge 540 for my A - just made it from weight point of view. (1200g) VA
  8. Flowers in the boot, poem out of the internet, card factory visited last week, all covered VA
  9. @Erfolg Carl, there was an electric flyers database in the past -I put some of my stuff in - probably in 2010. DEAR MODS is the electric flyer database still existing and how to access/update? About the magazine. Like the build article. Quite an unusual plane and a good size. Maybe I will try my luck. Anybody thought about cnc/laser cut parts for that one? VA from sunny Munich
  10. Proxxon FKS table saw, Emco compact 5 lathe, dremel, bench drill, pint of Hobgoblin VA
  11. You are spoiled forum writers! I like this little car and I used to rent them always when my family was still in Italy and I was working in the UK - much cheaper than an airport taxi from Milan Malpensa to Monza and no arguments during the weekend because of using wifes car.... And about the original one: Some of them had an Austrian engine (Puch 500 aircooled) which is a plus but absolutely no space! I was a skinny young lad but didn't find enough space in it. Same with the original Mini. Skinny but tall I couldn't put the seat enough backwards and had to drive it in go-kart style with the knees high up... ok, the skinny is no longer, but I could grow the size of my cars.... 12. About the bench drills: something I would not like to miss any more! One of the most important tools in the workshop. The shown drills may all be a bit delicate if it comes to running time - S2 15min. Bought a similar bench drill 20 years ago -blocked my original motor for 3 seconds (took long until I could grab the switch) and it was already too late! Replaced it with a Bosch washing machine engine from the broken washing machine of my grandma (built in the 50th I think - indestructible) - now I have operation mode S1 - no runtime restriction VA
  13. saw them as well some years ago - probably at Yeovil? unfortunately the bandwidth here in a German hotel is awful - so I needed a lot of phantasy to make a film out of static pictures In any case - jets don't like to fly in the exhaust stream of another jet- so extreme precision is needed... VA
  14. Can you spin the prop by hand and do you have easy access to the esc - motor connectors? I suppose it is a folding one. Try to spin it with the brake on and then with the esc disconnected. Normally you should see that it runs longer until it comes to a halt while the esc is disconnected. If you have no break in flight it is not a big miracle, the prop will run driven by the airflow and will break the plane - so it will not glide as nicely as with the prop folded, but other than that I do not see any issues. Had folding props also on park- flyers, never had a broken prop on (normal) landing. VA
  15. But Wendy - I think 3D printing could also be a business interesting for you - you could produce a miniature version of Vecchio Austiaco, Cymaz or whoever is interested, and then put them the clothes on etc (I think only about face details to stay on a political correct stage ) I am sure people would pay for that.   VA, future department   Edited By Vecchio Austriaco on 14/01/2015 20:40:12
  16. Hi Carl, a very interesting build blog. By the way it is AWG (American wire gauge) and AWG14 is approximately 2.1mm2, so you are right, not a lot. I like the fact that the guy on the video you linked is German - matches to a Messerschmidt plane Greetings from the world of cables VA
  17. You have to go idle up as you need the possibility to give negative pitch while you are inverted. If not the device will pull to mother earth quite fast.... You can do a loop even without high speed. Just pull the nick backwards and while the thing turns change the pitch to negative - in a way you have negative pitch when inverted and while the heli turns back to normal you have to change the pitch back to where you were before the move. It is more difficult to describe it than to do it. But: Please try it on a simulator first. This is less costly. VA
  18. Well - you have to see also the positive side of it - he saved you from the intake of a lot of calories VA, sitting in front of a diet coke
  19. Getting on quite nicely. What design will you use ? Like the one shown before on the thread? VA
  20. looks very nice. Wonder how it will fly. My experience with very small planes is that they are rather difficult to control (for instance Multiplex Fox conversion) - but probably yours has the right size to weight ratio. Looking forward to maiden flight VA
  21. John,   The reason for my question you see here. In the meantime it is repaired but I didn't fly it after the crash. VA Edited By Vecchio Austriaco on 06/01/2015 16:24:32
  22. Looks like it has a nasty stall tendency. Did anybody else notice such behavior? Is anybody else still flying it or are they all "grounded" VA
