  1. Yes tyres need to be fitted first
  2. Might be worth soldering a washer at the rear
  3. From memory the wheels do need a bit of care and practice without the tyre on to get the hubs to align properly any loose flashing from the tyre when moulded needs to be removed
  4. Brass sleeved and epoxied in place turned down a bit of a old brass lorry tyre extension valve to make it look nice
  5. Having pushed round various options for the wing tip, The conclusion was it is salvageable
  6. As the wing itself is still unbelievably straight I’ve opted to replace the wing ribs one at a time,1 per day
  7. It’s a massively oversized scarf made from hi vis material any smaller and it just isn’t worth fitting glad you enjoyed it that’s what it’s all about
  8. With the recent completion of a few Winter jobs for others and myself it’s now time to revisit my trusty old faithful Probably not time or cost effective but Ha Ho Having cut new ribs and visited the wing tip I have a fair idea of what to do
  9. Slowly getting ready for this year’s outings, Gonna be a mixup of Stampe’s and Hannibal’s Our club now has eleven Stampe’s and three Hannibal’s
  10. We can drop down low into the valley and onlookers from the pits can’t see the plane, then it pops up again
  11. This site is weird, some can and some can’t randomly see the videos
  12. Took PLM Out today as weather was a lot better, I’ve made no changes to it and as I suspected with lighter winds was so much nicer
  13. Dunno why it does that, Dunno if I’m doing it wrong, Have had same comments before and some can and some can’t
  14. Yep sure do, It was a horrible cross wind today and I just wasn’t feeling it, had two short flights and called it a day My son William flew his Stampe today and came to the same conclusion It was the first Stampe flight this year Nice warm calm day would have been better
  15. PLM back in the air was blowing 17 mph so kept it short it could do with some more weight up front if I’m gonna fly it in all weathers By far the most neutral c/g position I’ve flown would be great on calm days IMG_0455.MOV
  16. As PLM is now left for the paint to do its own thing for a while before running the engine thought I would stick with bi-plane repairs and move ACDA a bit mire forward, The Fuz will be fully recovered in next year or twelve but for now needed to cover it for a short term fix
  17. Think will need a second coat, if it’s gloss finish it must have sunk into the weave
  18. Hmm have to wait to see how the paint dries, may need some lacquer to darken it die a bit
