I am in Australia too, (Tasmania). I have never came across a club stipulating which mode must be used. Most in my area use Mode 1 but there are quite a few using Mode 2. We have in our club a member using mode 3. Whatever that is. Cheers Graeme

Shaping a leading edge
Graeme Poke replied to Graeme Poke's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Thank you all. LC, it's square balsa. I have planed it and I am now block sanding it. Even though I try to be careful the sander occasionally takes a bit of the ribs. I'll try the sticky tape tip. May help. Also it's becoming a bit "wavy". Don't know why. Maybe I didn't have it secure enough with pins when I glued the ribs to the bottom balsa sheet when forming the "D" section. Anyway. Just persevere I guess. -
Can you help please. I have glued the leading edge onto my new glider wing that I am building. How do I form it to the correct shape without damaging the front of the ribs? Cheers Graeme

Yes please Colin. I'm still waiting for your article. I love the Seafang/Spiteful. Cheers Graeme

Yes please Karl. That would be great. I have been looking for a new project from between the wars and that is certainly different. Thank you, Graeme -

I love that Cessna Karl. Never been aware of it. I would very much like to build one of these too. Is there a plan please Karl? Cheers Graeme -

Wow Peter, Mick's Tiger Moth is gorgeous. Where can I get a plan for that please? Thanks Graeme -
Here is what I'm trying to achieve. Don't know why one is inverted. Cheers Graeme

The plan copy is in the download. Don't know why. Hope it shows up. Cheers Graeme

CCF170322_0006.pdfThanks KC. Good suggestion. I don't know if it is the same graphic. I visited Old Warden back in 2016. Can't remember the Hawk Major. The colours on the plan state "light brown bird black detail gold beak & name". However, the main difficulty is that I live in Tasmania. It'll be awhile before I visit again. Andy, I'm using the Dennis Bryant plan which states the scale as 2 1/4" = 1 foot. About 1/5th scale. Copy of the plan sketch below ....I hope. CCF170322_0006.pdf

I am considering making decals for my refurbished Miles Sparrowhawk. Problem is I can't find a decent photo of the Sparrowhawk, the graphic on the plane. Has anyone tried designing/making their own transfers/decals? I am in need of some advice please. Cheers Graeme

Congratulations John. This is a magnificent rebuild. I can only dream of such skills and patience. Watching with spellbound interest. Graeme

I have four Saitos, twelve to twenty years old and a Laser155 eight years old. All have used a diet of 10% nitro, 20% synthetic oil. Would there be any problems now changing to Jon's ratios of 5% nitro and 15% oil? Cheers Graeme
