  1. Can only repeat what others have said, very sad news. My condolences and prayers to his friends and family. One of the most helpful and friendly people on here, he always seemed to have a good word and encouragement for all. Will be very sadly missed.
  2. I would be reluctant to make the wings a snug fit on the bolts, as anything between the wings will act as a fulcrum and make the wings slide off the spar, it is the cones on the wing retainers that stop the wings sliding apart in fligtht, but allow them to slide under impact. If I remember correctly (I can't get the wings out until the weekend) there is a protrusion under the wings that fitsinto the fuselage that stops the movement you mention. If this has been "dented" it may allow slight movement, Maybe a couple of 1/2" wide strips od that very thin (more like paper) foam packing you get around electronic good, paced between the wing and fuselage would make it a firmer fit again. If you want to put tube on the bolts, what about a couple of layers of heat shrink tube?
  3. For continuity, I placed two orders last Thursday, hopeful that they will arrive tomorrow.
  4. Picked up a Dremel 300, no signs of use, accessory box still closed with cable ties, flexible drive and a mini circular saw attachment, all boxed and looking brand new, for £10. Hadn't really planned to buy anything, and only decided to go at the last minute as it was so cold.
  5. This is the colour on one of mine. I will let the paint harden for a a few days before putting it back together.

  10. Posted by Dave Samuels on 12/05/2012 18:27:46: Price increase can be explained by UK VAT. MyHobbyStore are operating this legally as a UK business with the VAT number on the website - which is new. I wonder what the well established FPV brand "Fat Shark" think about the new name? I'm guessing it was you who said the same thing on another forum, the wording is almost the same. This is an old story, and nobody has ever shown there is any more substance to it than bus stop gossip.
  11. Posted by Redstorm on 11/05/2012 21:38:18: I've recently finished building a multiplex mentor and have noticed that the wings are a little loose as the holes that the wing securing bolts pass through are bigger than the bolts them selves. Any ideas anyone? I don't see what it will achieve, as the holes are between the wing halves, ie half the hole is on one wing and half the hole on the other wing. The bolts only provide downward force to hold the wing onto the fuselage, and to hold the wing locators down onto the wing, they do not hold anything in position themselves. In fact, unless you glue the wings together, you could only glue the tube onto one wing. If the glue joint between the wing and tube was strong, the tubes would probably cause damage to the wing in the event of a hard landing.

  13. Posted by Olly P on 11/05/2012 11:08:18: And Back on topic. Has anyone who put a test order in recieved anything yet? I know in GC days it was traditional to expect things the next day.... I won't know until I get home! But I am not expecting it so quick to be honest, tomorrow or Monday would be fine.

Such a large model really shouldn't have any difficulty crossing the channel. I tend to agree. The red tape was also probably quite a challenge. It's been done before from a boat, and one crossed the Atlantic. For less than £200, it could have been made to make the trip by itself, including take off and landing. Apart from the red tape again.
  15. It seems back to normal this morning, hope it continues when traffic builds up.
