  1. Last week I stripped off the old covering of my 13 year old Super Frontier Senior.   It was toughlon material the Chinese used at their factory to cover all of their World Models planes.  The problem is it delaminates and starts coming away from the wood. When I got it all removed it had left a colour stain behind , so I took a bottle of acetone and some kitchen roll and this removed it nicely prior to recovering.   Bearing in mind, this is a very large plane 65 inches long with a wingspan of 80 inches , thankfully the covering on the giant wing is fine.  I then cut out templates for the covering and set my iron at 150 degrees centigrade and got going with the all white Oracover.   After completion my next job was to remove the blue paint that World Models had used to spray the plastic windows on both sides of the fuselage.   I never like this as it made the pilot invisible.   So it was out with the acetone again and with a lot of elbow grease it left the windows nice and clear and the pilot figure can now be seen.  My final job today before installing the cowl and wheels was to add two trim lines down both sides.   In keeping with the original scheme, World Models added three lines, one red , one dark blue and one mid blue.  I decided to just make do with one red and one blue.   The end result was very pleasing.   Also to be different from the original, I'm going to leave the tail plane all white.  Very pleased tonight with the outcome.  Oracover is not cheap but well worth it in the end as the Super Frontier Senior is such a nice big relaxing plane to fly and I want to hold onto it for another few years if I can.

  2. I'm just literally in the door from the flying club tonight. Had two good flights with the ever faithful Piper Cherokee as the evening sun slowly descended behind the trees.

  3. Great stuff Toto and all went well at the wedding.  As the old saying goes, "Alls well that ends well."  Have a brilliant holiday and enjoy the Aeroscout while you are there.  Kind regards Aidan.

The back of my neck is a bit tight from the sun at the weekend. I had my cap on and rotated it from time to time but when flying the skip had to be to the front as the sun just .... yawnsssssss it way right over us all day .... right in your eyes ... mostly in your peripheral vision but none the less ..... in the way.

Maybe I should have got a fez Ron.... more inkeeping with my avatar and easier to wear .... just like that .....:classic_laugh:

By the way ...... I did think of it just to get the humour going on the pitch .... but was a bit worried that some may think I was being serious.

    Never mind

The Fez could be a real trend setter Toto.  Whenever you take your A Certificate test and you pass with flying colours all being well.  When you arrive home later that evening,  your wife might be suprised and say, "Toto, how did you manage that"?  Your reply might be "Oh my good woman, Just Like That"

  5. Thanks Toto. It's hard to beat the long summer nights.  Glad to hear your circlips arrived for the Super Cub wheel.  She will be back in the air in a short space of time and talking about hats I have some collection at home but no cowboy hats . So I may just get myself a stetson and pretend I'm  flying at Monument Valley where a lot of "The Searchers" was filmed.  I can just see John Wayne coming towards me and muttering the words, "This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us".

  6. Just leaving the flying field after having two summer evening flights with my fourstroke powered Piper Cherokee.   This model is very reminiscent to the full scale Piper Cherokee aircraft that stared in the James Bond film "Goldfinger"

A fantastic Video Aidan. I'd be checking the undercarriage after that landing though .... :classic_laugh:

Nice to watch as always .... lovely long confidently flown straights with some sedately flown banking curves and the odd loop thrown in for good measure. The engine sounds sweet as well ..... what's not to like about that. Well done.

    Toto

    Cheers Toto

  8. I love to see a big brown box arrive at the door Toto.  We all need something to look forward to in life and you will enjoy exploring the contents of this new purchase.  Good luck with that.  Also good luck with your forthcoming daughters wedding . That will be a great day out for the family and of course the biggest day in your daughters life so far.  I wish her and her new husband to be every happiness in their life together.   You will look splendid in the kilt Toto and maybe if you get your hands on a Claymore, then you could sign up for Bonnie Prince Charlie's army and be the next Rob Roy Macgregor .  All joking aside, I hope the day is great for everyone of you and I'm sure if you have a wee speech to make you will do your daughter proud.  Long live the memories of that  special day to come . Yes it will be nail biting but it will be exciting also.  On a very different note, I'm not long home from the aerodrome where I had two flights with the Avistar.   The flights went well but I've done better landings.   Aidan was there to film it with the video camera and the night was dead calm with a heavenly red sky.  I will view it tomorrow and see what it looks like.   Hope you get out flying soon Toto and back to the solo flights.   Regards Aidan    P.S.  The Avistar at the field tonight.

  10. I am reluctantly selling my OS95V to help fund another project.  I rarely ever sell any of my engines as I love them all.  But on this occasion the OS95V is going on the market.  The custom exhaust will be coming off and the original exhaust that came with the engine will be part of the sale.  This is a great little engine that starts first time everytime when primed.  It has a lovely exhaust note.   Good luck to whoever buys this wonderful gem of an engine.   I will pay the postage cost to wherever in the UK the item is destined.

  11. Unfortunately Aidan the video cameraman was at a school musical tonight Toto watching his young relatives taking part, so was at the flying field on my own.  The plane flew great and hopefully young Aidan will be with me next time round.  Many thanks for your kind comments Toto on the photograph.   Cheers.   Aidan
