  1. Wishing you all a great weekend andc good lift ! I had thought this may be the time IO actually get back to the Valleys and fly the Bwlch at last...... however its not to be. Work calls on the Saturday and a friend has offered me a free trip to Cosford full size airshow on the Sunday. Have a great time chaps and chapesses and Ill see you at the next one
  2. Posted by Geoff Sleath on 20/05/2017 20:07:46: Yes, but 90% of Sinclair's stuff was absolute rubbish. The radio that wouldn't fit in the case, the Black Watch, the awful class 'D' amplifier as well as the more conventional ones which never approached the claimed performance to say nothing of the disaster that was the C5 electric trike (I was always sorry I never came across one on the road I could have overtaken on my racing pedal trike ) Dad stocked a few of the amplifiers and they sold in small quantities. In the early 70s I worked with a lad who'd worked for Sinclair testing those amplifiers. The rule was to send them out whether they worked or not and replace the ones returned. Of course a significant number weren't returned as the users assumed it was their fault they didn't work as advertised. Sinclair never quite forgave Acorn for getting the BBC contract for the superb (for the time) BBC computer. And of course Acorn when on to be ARM (Acorn RISC Machines) who make the chips found in mobile phones and elsewhere (Taranis I think?). I think Poundland has Sinclair beaten all ends up Geoff Nicely put Geoff - but the ZX Spectrum still got me interested in home computing
  3. Ensure that trainer mode is enabled on the tx as the head tracker outputs its signal(s) via the trainer cord so the tx expects to see a "trainee" connected, also ensure the correct channels are assigned to the "trainee"
  4. Morning all. Cottage loaf is v popular, and food generally good, we locals use it a lot. Its not a big place ( clue's in the name ) but its right next to the rear of wetherspoons, so we could always use that as a back up LOL Weather as I stand here in tghe garage fettling and checking the fleet is very overcast and without much wind - we are promised by the forecasters a very warm sunny weekend, but it aint arrived yet ! Saturday looks a very light day, but Sunday looks very promising in all respects. See you guys there
  5. Vapor is fine on the dx6i - Ihave a night vapor here never used for a couple of years if you're interested

  7. wot 4 arguably even better for your purpose 😄
  8. Yeah - all over the place on the Sunday 😳 I'm due to go Friday but may postpone til Sat or do both 😁
  9. There's a filthy rumour that the big rock is the likely venue - but nyd or nye or both ?
  10. Posted by David Ashby - RCME on 26/12/2016 16:06:33: Thanks Jossip Yes, it's scary where the time goes and although I don't have the time to look in here very often since taking the helm at the mag', here's to the next 10 years. More than anything I've made some great friends here. Big thanks go to Timbo for his help in the early days and the mods; Dave, Steve, Pete and Chris of course who've made sure the site is a fair and friendly place for all - something I was keen to promote from a relatively early time - and Beth for the admin work behind the scenes in the last 2 years. David Thank you for remembering me David I have very little input to the forum these days for various reasons, but still look in daily to make sure the guys are maintaining things correctly LOL Well done to all involved, and best wishes to everyone for a great 2017.
  11. Thanks Mark - the wind noise always dominates the videos when on the slope - I seem to recall it sounded quite a bit better than that in the flesh - but you've got it quite well 👍🏻👍🏻
  12. Thanks Mark - youre a busy boy these days promoting the PSSA I should point out that the Vampire of mine seen in the videos is indeed a durafly model from HK, but after flying it as a powered model a few times I decided it would suit the slope better, so I stripped out pretty much everything including the motor and fan landing gear etc so she ended up a very lightweight machine. It necessitated some nose weight to balance so I used a large 4s 3000m/a lipo pack and ubec for radio power instead of lead. Thereforte, if you fancy this as a sloper, you DONT need the powerplant and you may be able to find a bare airframe a lot cheaper. I see the price has increased a LOT since I bought mine at the beginning of this year ;-( I have since fitted a sound system into it which works very well in a PSS model, and the extra weight has been no bother at all.
  13. Brilliant stuff Scott - and stop putting your skill level down - youve done some great work from what Ive seen at the meets
  14. Yeh, a great time had by all again me thinks, and great pictures in that initial batch Phil. Was annoyed that I couldnt attend the Sunday due to illness, but Saturday was memorable for several reasons. That beer can fair flew off that rock when I finally nailed it eh Phil ! Sad but successful mission when I dropped dear old flying buddy Dave Sergant's ashes from my Kettle Vulcan out over the sea - Dave's now feeding the cod at the end of the pier. Thanks to all who helped make that finally happen. Great company as ever, banter and michievousness of the highest order, and dont ask about transmitters or you'll get a law suit Heres to 2017 season Oh and the PSSA roadshow got yet more exposure in the local press with hard copy in todays daily post, and yesterdays online version had video too. Ill try and find the links and post in a mo...
  15. This afternoon in town the wind had definately dropped off from yesterdays strength. Still ENE so direction should still work from the ski centre slope. Forecast is now showing 7 - 8 mph for Saturday, with stronger forecast for Sunday. Up top of course thats gonna be quite a bit higher so we should still be able to fly the lighter stuff.
  16. Summed up nicely Phil. E or ENE 10MPH at sea level will see plenty of lift on this ski site slope, so here's looking forward to a great finish to the very successful PSSA anniversary year. If parking at the tramway halfway station point, please be sure to leave the farm access road clear, and if at the ski-slope park there is a decent overspill parking area to the left as you reach the site. Toilets and cafe are available at the skicentre - about a ten minute walk down from the "Pits". See you there chaps
  17. You on commision with Premier Inn then Mark ? 😏
  18. Chaps.... Ive been issued with a writ from a Lawyer in Cheshire re: The Meal On Saturday. It seems we are in breach of local by-laws if we eat Asian based foods on Saturday night if we number greater than 3. So Ive defaulted to the old grub house that is Afon Conwy ( Premier Inn )......its better than nowt, and as the Indian restauarant I was going to use have cocked up and double booked us with an earlier booking anyway - and I can't be arsed to try and find an alternative at this short notice. Any complaints..... take it up with a lawyer
  19. Posted by KiwiKid on 24/09/2016 21:41:09: Dang - double post. Well, better fill it up with something useful - my PSS Learjet REALLY FANCY ONE OF THESES, AND HAVE TRIED ORDERING HERE IN UK WITH LITTLE TO NO SUCCESS. Edited By KiwiKid on 24/09/2016 21:51:02
  20. Final call for peeps wanting to curry it - Ive logged all previous attendees so only post now if you have NOT already logged your interest.
  21. Well chuffed to report that the Spifire conversion has won me two accolades this season. First off it was voted best flown model at the August PSSA meet down on the Lleyn. Now check out this bad boy - won best scale glider at the 2016 Lleyn Bring -n-Fly. I reckon the installed sound system helped It does fly very well actually - needs a decent blow, but nonetheless a definate success.
