  1. Interesting site. I think the farmhand would easily be customised as Dusty
  2. Any updates? I'm tempted to get this to make "Dusty" from the new movie Planes for my grandson.
  3. That's a shame. I'll keep watching for a bit before I commit to buying one.
  4. I'm a Loadmaster instructor on the real thing, based in Seville. It is pretty impressive and I intend building the Tony Nilhuis version eventually.
  5. Currently Building the Warbirds Replica LA7. It's the new larger 91 sized kit. Very nice, my first foray into building. Highly recommended.Edited By Shaun Chant on 04/12/2011 23:20:01
  6. Some of you already know but my 18 year old son died in may this year in an accident. I can tell you that there is no logic, no sense to the grief, guilt and loss the parents will be experiencing. But one thing that makes a huge difference is the support of friends and the knowledge that their child was loved and respected by friends and peers. My sons funeral had around 400 people attend and we had cards and letters from hundreds more who couldn't attend or bear to attend, many expressing their grief in private messages. Bizarrely Facebook has been a brilliant place for young people to express themselves, something I would previously have shied away from. If you feel you can show them that support then go, but no-one should think any less of you if you can't bear it.Edited By Shaun Chant on 15/10/2011 08:44:26
  7. Mr Muscle Orange floor wipes then polish up with a Windowlene wipe
  8. A big vote here for the Warbirds Replica kits. There's a video build of the LA7 on YouTube so you can see the build. Quality kits at a nice price, bags of opportunities to add scale detail. Not ARTF and not a full bag of balsa build. A stepping stone between you might say.
  9. I love the PP figures. If they are badly cast, he will usually swap it for you. As for small holes, I fill them with lightweight filler, or for bigger holes I use model filler. Some of the tiny holes go away when you prime the figure.   As for paints, I use Tamiya acrylics / Citadel (Warhammer) acrylics and paint the figure however I visualise the correct colours to be - whether accurate or not.
  10. Really sounds like a stall on take off. Identical to my leccy Seagull Sea Fury, also lost on its maiden.
  11. 24 years as an RAF Load Master and helicopter crewman, now working on the A400M as an instructor for Airbus in Spain.
  12. If you go to the Nats you may get what you want at the Sunday morning swapmeet ! There's usually bargains to be had.
  13. First warbird? Hangar9 P47 Thunderbolt.
  14. If you are set on a warbird the Hangar 9 P47 (60 size) flies like one, as does the WR LA7 I believe.
  15. Get across to www. gary132.co.uk And have a look there. He's done a few step by step builds of these kits, with the latest (LA7) being on video Dear mods, I am using my iPhone and can't embed a link properly, sorry. Forgive me.Edited By Shaun Chant on 05/07/2011 20:39:14
  16. Not so Tim. I picked mine up today and it comes with a leccy conversion kit and manual which covers conversion. Overall first impressions are good but the pilot must go. Now... leccy or glow? Seems a shame to cut the cowl, but leccy will sound rubbish on a Seafire.
  17. Hi, a cryptic title perhaps, but as ex RAF (crab) the irony of my latest purchase is not wasted on me... I just bought a Sea Fire, which with my Sea Hurricane (VQ) and Sea Fury (Seagull - needs refurb) means I now have 3 combat proven carrier born fighters Which is 3 more than the real Fleet Air Arm!
  18. Well.... Money is sort of an object, in that if I don't need to spend it, I won't. I'll run up the existing motor and have a think.
  19. Thanks guys. Not really back as such Tim, but can't sit around moping anymore. I have to do something or risk slipping into deeper despair.   I will try and run the motor today using the A123s, but I am increasingly drawn back to LiPos and wondered if 4S is man enough or should I use 6S? This aeroplane is a turbo prop in real life and should have a fair lick of speed.   Of course as Pete pointed out, 6S = more weight.   Djay, I listened to several flying on Youtube, and whilst I like glow 4st, they sound rubish compared to the whine of the leccys (never thought I'd say that). This is a turbo prop after all, and I'd really like to recreate the prop sound of a turbo prop.
  20. Hmmm... All true of course. In the vids the guys flying leccy setups did so with 4S pulling 65A IIRC? Maybe the A123s aren't so bad, but they are huge and pretty hefty. Where's Danny, Timbo & Chris?
  21. Or do I go LiPo (4S) and save the weight of the LiFes as the Tucano has a longer nose than the Sea Fury? Nice videos. The sound track is awful but the motor noise isn't bad. I have the orange one btw, they're on offer at Webbs.
  22. True... This is the available power train Turnigy C5065-320 motor Hobby King 100A ESC 2 x 19.8v A123 LiFe packs in parallel to give 4600mah. That is if they still work...
  23. The kit says 91 4st, but I have the motor and batteries from my ill fated leccy Sea Fury (the Iraqi one) sitting in my garage.   An ic engine will sound odd in a turbo prop, but equally the Sea Fury was a bit dissappointing....   What to do....Edited By Shaun Chant on 21/06/2011 17:01:06
