  1. Just measured up the wings on an old? Mascot trainer. 10" chord wing used 7" white bands x6. Never had wings come loose in normal service. ps found a bag of bands recently that have to be 20 years old, still as they were bought.
  2. I too am in possession of a "THING" acquired many years ago. Last i knew about SAS was a meeting at Woodvale before the closure. He was with a friend from Shaw who was cutting the wing cores for him.
  3. Yes, We had permission from not long after the war to fly model aircraft on the site. ALSO we had "Permission of lawful use" granted by the local council solicitors.
  4. On the same theme, But slightly larger, My old flying field was playing fields where we had flown for many years and at each of three entry points there were signs saying NO HORSE RIDING, Guess what we got , young ladies( i use the word lightly) were wont to come galloping across from the blind side whilst on landing approach. When it was pointed out they shouldn´t be there they usually replied that we shouldn´t either.
  5. TX switched. Just got to finish refurbs on airframes.
  6. Martin, It was bought in Cheshire. Won´t name the shop, They are brilliant, it was my oversight.
  7. Thanks guys, I even contacted a major UK supplier of batteries and they held their hands up and said they had no idea what a "Z" plug was.
  8. I have been trying to scource a TX pack for a BNIB Sanwa VG6000 for a while and this week thought i was in with a chance, But no. All I can find out is that the polarily is different to norm. Can anyone please help.
  9. The trip was for other reasons, BUT with the cost of balsa over here and the cost of postage it would have been foolish not to take advantage of having all the storage space in my motorhome and carry it for free. I should point out that my nearest shop is a full day round trip.
  10. Many thanks Denis and Jon. Radio was bought in UK while on a brief jaunt by road from my home in Portugal along with a shipload of balsa and other fittings.
  11. Hi guys, I have just purchased my first 2.4 radio set after years of 35mg. Unfortunately i forgot to specify mode 2. So I ended up with a mode 1 set. It is a Futaba T6k, I have switched the ratchet before but is there any electronics involved?
  12. I just tell them I work for Microsoft, that does the trick.
  13. I was flying over 30 years ago and made my own panel and fitted a small ammeter. This always showed what current the plug was drawing. Yes i did use a 2v nicad, or a dropper circuit from the main 12v battery.
  14. Steve, It´s the same in Portugal. Even learners don´t seem to be taught to use them.
