  1. Apart from model flying , restoring my old Pontiac, since moving to NZ I have become a keen hunter, shooting wild pigs, goats, and pest controlling like bunnies and possums, also collect Lee Enfield .303's shooting them in military rifle competitions
  2. Thanks guys I now have something to work with, maiden net weekend weather permitting
  3. Hello there from sunny NZ a club mate has given me a half finished Can Do but no plans the airframe is complete , but where should the C of G be please Regards Wayne
  4. I may make a larger wing with polyhedral so its slightly slower and not all over the sky like a wheelbarrow full of poop
  5. I flew mine for the first time this evening rudder only !! it got very high very fast but was controllable and I was pleased when the fuel ran out and it came down again . Very pleased and zero damage cannot ask for more than that
  6. I have a Futaba 10j and a Spektrum DX9 I tend to use the Futaba as most of my models are on it, but the cost of rx's are expensive, I prefer my DX9 as it has a better feel in the hands is easier to set up, and importantly it is able to use multiple receivers like Lemon rx and the ever handy ORX ones for the cheaper models
  7. Hi I have just been given a kit from Israel its by a company called Tissan Haifa, and the model strangely enough is called a Banana ?? strange name indeed for a model. having a look inside it is a very well made and kitted out model its designed for the venerable Cox .049 and described as a 2 channel trainer. I'm having a retro thang at the moment so I will make it as planned but will save heaps of weight using modern equipment , so here is my question anyone else heard of these and are they any good
  8. I saw the plans in the current RCM&E and just had to make one it took just under a week of evenings, I have gone for the traditional rudder only and a wee Cox 049 up front
  9. My wife looking over my shoulder when I'm ordering a model online ha ha ha ! I have smashed too many models over the years to get nervous about flying these days
  10. Mine is a Great Planes Electri-cub I built it about 5 years ago and it pretty much gets flown every week basically because it looks so nice in the air, its a cub so not too challenging to fly but i never get tired of those oh so slow and low flypasts with the odd touch and go thrown in , next to that its a small foamie corsair that you can just about perform every trick in the book and it takes endless abuse and still flies like on rails
  11. looking good I too have been tempted by these cool little models
  12. ha ha the trouble with mine is that I had just finished a Great Planes electri cub and getting straight into another cub just didnt inspire me, although I'm currently building one Harvard after another no problems, funny that
  13. I know what you mean I have an unfinished Clipped wing cub in that attic thats 4 years old and still uncovered
  14. I have embarked on what can only be described a building frenzy, now I have got into the hobby again in the last 10 years after the usual excuses, anyway for a while I have been distracted by foam and flying in general but now I'm building kits, from plans and cannot stop ! In the last few weeks I have built a house of balsa Texan, and am currently building a smaller 049 powered texan, have just started a group build of Peter Millers Jezebel, and have just ordered the plans for a Tony Nijhius 40" vampire as part of our club group build!!! Does anyone else experience this ?? I usually build 1 or 2 models a year but I have exceeded that in the last month alone
  15. here in new Zealand we pay twice as much for a magazine 2 months old !! but I willingly buy both RCM&E and RCMW at the cost of $14 each about 7 quid, I love RCM&E for the quality of free plans and of course the late Pete Lowe,s Totally Traditional column , and RCMW for Gray,s excellent "The Sport Channel" but really the two mags are very similar, as they would be covering the same events , product launches etc , most importantly the mags keep me in touch with my homeland so the expense is tolerated. I have been here in NZ 10 years now and am living the dream but need my UK model fixes
  16. Excellent flyers these Bixlers arent they (Y)
