  1. These came with my kit. Puppeteer.pdf
  2. Puppeteer.pdf Hi Wilf, will this do?
  3. These A4 PRO plans are worth up to 17GBP each! Hoping its a mistake. If not, goodbye RCM&E from me.
  4. Thanks everyone, your recommendations and advice are much appreciated. I have managed a little research showing that the aircraft operating from Clacton in that era were G=AMSZ (thanks Dad_flyer) and G-AKWS of Norfolk Airways. I have found some photos of both but I'm not sure I can post them here as they are marked copyright. Both of these aircraft are/were Lycoming powered and use a wide cowl to accommodate the boxer engine. Unfortunately, I much prefer the look of the classic Cirrus or Gypsy powered models. After some dithering, I have decided to abandon my original idea of modelling the aircraft which took me on my first flight (which i barely remember anyway) and build a aircraft of a similar type from the same manufacturer and which I find more aesthetically appealing. I then looked at suitable kits and plans. Living overseas, shipping and import tax are factors to consider. The DB kit is just too expensive and sadly, Sarik will not sell me a pdf copy of a plan. They willl only ship a printed copy. Fortunately, Outerzone has just what I need. (thank you Paul De Tourtoulon). A 1/6 scale Taylorcraft Auster by George Ritchie. Drawn with reference to the full size G-AJEM, the plan has plenty of scale detail. https://outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=10168. So that is 2023 sorted! Thanks again everyone and, if I'm not too early, season's greetings and a happy new year to you all. BarryT Cape Town
  5. My first joyride was in an Auster when I was 8 years old. It was at the Clacton airfield. I don't remember much about it and there were no photographs. From the altimeter I had worked out that we were flying at 400ft, confirmed by the pilot which put an even bigger grin on my face! So before I get too old, I think this is a good enough reason for a similar looking Auster to be my next build. Any idea which Auster types and registrations were giving joyrides in the late 50s? Location of a suitable plan? Around 1.6m span is optimum but anything near would be fine. Any advice would be much appreciated.
  6. Yes John, I have power and ground on channel 6, but evidently no signal.
  7. Thanks for the feedback. I opened the Rx and had a look with a magnifying glass. It looks like there are resistor / capacitor networks in between the microprocessor and each signal pin but the components are so small I cannot get my multimeter leads on anything let alone affect any kind of repair. I'll install this Rx into a cheap foamy (which only needs 4 or 5 channels) and see if it deteriorates further.
  8. Taranis X9D+ Tx with X8R Rx. All 8 channels used. Standard size analog servos. During pre flight checks I noticed one of my flaps was not working. The Tx monitor showed movement with the flap switch. All of the other channels were working properly. Back home the flap servo tested perfectly with a servo tester, so I swapped out the Rx and all was well. Any ideas what has happened here? Would it be worth reloading the Rx firmware or would it be an electronic component failure?
  9. Thank you leccyflyer. You are spot on. I googled 'RAF Gas Detection Panel' and found all the information. I'll paint one on when the time comes. BS.381 No. 55 Lemon, or as near as I can get!
  10. What is the significance of the white diamond painted on the top of the rear fuselage of this Magister? (photo Nigel Hitchman) Does anyone have a picture or drawing of the Magister blind flying hood deployed? Further info much appreciated.
  11. A more detailed explanation here. Sensored and sensorless motor control. ESC design.pdf
  12. Latest digital edition has a 'not for publication' watermark and low res images. Am I doing something wrong?
  13. Don't want to stray off topic but gee, I thought I had used my brain! I asked the forum for advice and quickly received it. Thank you very much. I can now go back to building my home made (not ARTF) balsa planes with better quality and cheaper triangular stock fillets, made without any waste. That's a result. I appreciate I don't live in the UK, but the cost was less than 2GBP. Should I own up to using 3D printed pilots too? As much as I enjoy using tissue and dope, I also use the other modern developments commonly found in our hobby. And of course, so does everyone else. So why should 3D printed accessories, and in this case tools, be frowned upon?
  14. Well an overnight run on a mate's 3D printer resulted in this. Worked perfectly on a full length length of 6mm medium balsa. Although the cut was accurate, the resulting triangular stock warped immediately. No big problem for me though because I rarely use pieces over 120mm long. Thanks once again FF. This handy tool is going to make my projects less of a pain in the fillet department. Already dreaming of a small trailing edge version!
  15. That is just the job! Thank you FlyinFlynn.
