  1. You omitted Persistent fiddlers . Those that wont listen. Those that should never bet let loose near an engine of any type. And of course those that seem to come from the plannet Argue. πŸ™‚
  2. Hope your painter uses a little plasticiser in the paint. 2k is good but can crack on flexible substrates unless plasticiser is used especially in vold weather. Just ouf of interest could you weigh the parts before and after painting ?
  3. Welcome back Stubbsy . Good to see you need the smell of glow fuel again. Not many of us IC types left now .
  4. The scam can also work both ways. Person buys parts using PayPal , not friends and family, generally not a problem. They then contact PayPal and say item isnt as described . PayPal take back the money fto you the seller , they get a refund your stuff is gone as Pay Pal it seems are only interested in the customer and not the seller as are Ebay . Only safe way is to meet face to face and do the deal for cash. Or the old fashioned way with a cheque. Trust is a dying thing Im afraid and the scum bags that do this sort of thing ruin it for all the genuine people and seem to get away with it.
  5. You had a deluxe model then πŸ˜€ The standard came supplied with an ordinary villiers motorbike engine complete with kick start. You had to unlock the bonnet kick start the engine then lock it again again , from memory with one of those square keys . Then you could buy a dashboard starter kit. Sounds good doesnt it ? It was a pull handle with a length of steel cable that clamped to the kickstart lever. These were real accesorise and sold by Pride & Clarke in Brixton and George Clark in Balhamor from adds in Exchange And Mart. A Bond mini car was my first terrifying go behind the wheel while being towed behind a recovery motorcycle combination recovering a broken down Bond; this was on my second day at work at Elite Motors in Tooting ! It was a Tuesday . Left school on Friday started work on Monday thrown in the deepend on Tuesday πŸ™‚.
  6. They could also be driven I believe on a motorcycle licence like many three wheelers , although I seem to remember that you had to blank off the reverse gear ? was that correct ?
  7. Well it finished on ebay for Β£127 , a Bit less than I thought it might be . Anyone on here buy it, is it salvageable or a can of worms ?
  8. A friend of mine had a Reliant van, the early version with girder forks. The body work was typical coach biult, wooden frame with thin metal vcovering and a canvas treated roof . All ok driving with a couple of mates in the back until he touched the brakes 😯. The body moved forward on the chassi and knocked it out of gear πŸ˜„. Then pulling away if he jerked the clutch the body shifted back and knocked it out of gearπŸ˜„. To get home we chopped out cover around the gear lever .Got it back back home and found the enlarged holes in ( rotten ) chassi and wooden bodywork . We bodged it with some larger washers . MOT or Ten year test as it was then was very flexible and often depended on how well you knew the testerπŸ˜‰. That Reliant very quickly found its waygo the scrappy. Then the same friend turned up in a Bedford CA , another classic loved by us young uns . Back then in SW London old bangers were everywhere and often a really nice old car was just abandond by the road. Similar story with our first motorbikes .
  9. The show can be entertaining but the aero modelling bit last night shows just how concocted the show is and was rubbish . A flyer who's been flying for years who doesnt know how to fit out a simple model like an Astro hog without the help of an "expert" complete with Biggles sheepskin jacket on what was obviously a very warm day , really ? The bit about Reliant cars was just as poor due to trying to cover too much in a short time. And Sir David Jason trying to be funny isnt working , hes not funny without a Fools and horses script. Loosing interest fast in the show . Even the Repair Shop spends more time telling the tear jerky stories rather than showing the actual repairs being done. Will there be a second series ? I suspect and hope not.
  10. Have to agree. The Wot 4 E is imo just inferior to the Riot . The Rukus would be better . Better still a propper built Wot 4 ,Acro Wot or a propper Panic if you can find one
  11. 🀣 Dont know what happened there ? Should reads as "contamination" prob fat finger syndrome again using my tablet .
  12. Your test pilot should be able to diagnose the fault ie to much or too little incidence. Then simply pack the LE or TE with balsa shims until it flys correctly then go home and build it in by adjusting the wing seat. Simple on an electric model as no oil contsmibation to worry about.
  13. You can get a never ending supply of hot air if they are awake or even in there ☺️
  14. Its a complete mystery to me. The cylinder looks sort of familiar but not enough to go on . Its probably been built by one of the many very talented engineer in our hobby. Crankcase looks sort of based on a ED Hunter-ish but nothing to get any scale in the pics. I wouldnt mind having a go at that but its early days and I reckon the bidding will go a bit silly near the auction end. Its a pity its bèen run on methanol as its obviously been designed for petrol an glow fuel has possibly corroeded any bearings and cams etc.
  15. Remember Yes Minister ...so true.
  16. Poly C was an overrated product . I covered the tail surfaces on large model using glass matt and Poly C only to find it could just be peeled away from the balsa . Absolute rubbish and good job I found out before covering the rest of the model with it . Removed sanded down and re-covered with glass and epoxy ... proper Job .
  17. If you get a 2K aerosol made up ask them to add a little plasticiser . Its excellent at keeping 2K flexible over covering or anything bendy or flexible . PS use in open space and wear some breathing protection . Of course if you can find some Clearcoat its a simple application and probably the best fuel single pack proofer ever made . I believe Solarfilm still have stock but wont supply the trade or post ? Its collect only from Lancashire .
  18. Dont worry . In the event of a cyber attack we can all rest assured that our illustrious leaders have the most up to date comunication supplied by someone like Fujitsu πŸ₯΄ or another competent trustworthy supplier. πŸ˜‰ Why am I not filled with confidence?
  19. Its all very good moving with the times , technology etc but rembering the storm in 87. We had no power etc for days roads were blocked and villages in kent were cut off. Only contact with the outside world was the land line that kept going . Even some of those faded when batteries at the exchanges died and roads were still blocked with fallen trees . How long will the modern system hold up in a similar event ? Weve had power cuts locally and masts have shut down after a few hours. Now most land lines are run through wifi and any powercut will cause on outage. So in an event of anything like the big storm most of us will be unable to calk assisrance if needed. Thats progress !
  20. Indeed we never left home without a bag of tools as bits often fell off or broke even on shortish journeys. Most Saturday or Sunday mornings were maintenance days to ready the bike for the week ahead. This usually ended with a wash down of the greasy bits with some Gunk . I still like the smell . Then The Japanese came along and made bikes boringly reliable , Started first time on an electric starter, no oil leaks and were quiet and smooth ! Awful πŸ˜‰. No wonder the old brit bikes died out .
  21. Ok on chaincases as british bikes always leaked but a no no on engines. The same applied when silicone gasket came in, awful stuff . Stripped a few engines with blocked sump filters due to over zaelous use of gasket goo inc Hermetite, hylomar etc.
  22. Hi Geoff. One of my mates at the time showed me trick to re-use those copper-asbestos laminated gasket if you were stuck. He soaked them in boiling water for a while to soften the filling . It was a get you out of trouble bodge really but seamed to work for him. I wouldnt fancy doing it on an A10 with that horrible bolt down in the middle; always an issue as decent socket sets were a luxury back then and me and my mates mostly relied on box spanners unless one of the dads loaned us his set.
  23. From Tesco phone shop Samsung A12 x 2 for Β£19-98 a month inc calls texts and data ( far more than my wife and I ever use ) drops to Β£8 each a month after 24 months. Camera is good but doesnt have the gizmos that the youngsters want . Far better and up to date sat nav than supplied in ny car.
