  1. Hi Gavin, From West Wales. Welcome to the forum. I have deleted your Email address from post as we have had spammers getting at us here. For what you are looking for Sarik hobbies [[email protected]] could help. They hold a wide range of plans many that were free with mags in their day. Good luck, John.
  2. We have one around our flying field, a fancy more powerful than my farm one to keep the darned Badgers from digging the strip. Says in the instructions "In an Emergency can be used as a defibrillator" ! So far no one has tested it either in need or accidentally.🤞
  3. A pavement had been widened in a village near me but when done the B road white line needed to be redone. However the pavement was now so silly wide two cars could now only just pass each other. While 2 chaps were painting the new white line in the middle I turned up with a wide 4 wheel car trailer in tow that simply would not fit the space without going over the fresh painted line that was marked off with cones and the paint can still there as well. I asked how the heck I was to get through and they just shrugged their shoulders. At this point I just drove through flattening the paint can spreading its remaining contents. In my mirror the council men were just standing with dropped with jaws. Two of the cones dragged under the trailer until they wore away some miles down the road. Thought I may get some complaint from the Council but nothing happened other than a month later the pavement was now at a sensible width. When I pass that way I still have a little smile to myself.
  4. The main danger is with the center grub screw coming loose. A collet on the main rod from the servo in front of block gives a belt [extra safety] for a push for up elevator, another behind block would be braces.
  5. The RAF attacked many targets in France before D day, perhaps the most famous bombing of the engine factory at Limoges by 617 squadron led by Leonard Cheshire [later VC] A daring attack in which Cheshire's Lancaster made several low level passes over the factory by the light of parachute flairs allowing French workers to escape before the rest of the squadron destroyed it with very accurate bombing. There was just one French casulty reported.
  6. Good ol Dave Allen. One of the best, half the stuff he did would not be allowed on mainstream TV today.
  7. Getting back to the Skybolt, Had a very good scale modeler in our club who built from plan large [ for the time] Warbirds and aerobatic types. Brian [RIP] was also a very good pilot. He made a petrol powered Skybolt complete with smoke system. Despite flying it a fair bit he said he never realy liked it as it could not be made to be tidy flyer in all aspects unlike his Pitts Special. He thought the issue was with the basic design/set of the model.
  8. You are not on your own @PatMc it is also my way.
  9. There seems to be a rash of new posters of late, getting hard to sort the wheat from the chaff. All sorts of stuff turns up. Deleted this morning someone touting "airport transfer cab service" [that was an easy one}
  10. Coming back to the op question. Can not say I am expert here but would think the difference at model size would be small. Anyone fancy an experiment, glider perhaps best with all the way aileron one side and solid tip the other. Or is this just daft.
  11. In full size I think it is fair to say most every day types have ailerons that finish before the tip even if it is just a small amount and as Jon notes likely a protection thing, bump a tip simple fix, damage an aileron another matter. Types I can think of with ailerons all the way are WW1 types like a Sopwith Pup and modern stuff like Extra 300 where designer trying to maximise roll rate perhaps.
  12. I have a Ripmax panel as above still in use 12V. Runs on a 3s lipo now.
  13. A lot depends on the type of aircraft you like to fly and to some extent their size, a hand launch type can be flown in just open space. So before going further what sort of models do you have?
  14. Hi Martin, I would not know how to sort this but will seek assistance.
  15. I had a control line flying friend who could never bring himself to lean on a prop nut enough. I could be pretty sure each time we flew at least one of his planes prop would come loose and I would tighten with the small adjustable I carried. I swear that later he would slacken it off again not being able to bear the thought of it being so tight as next time it would spin off again!
  16. Hello, Welcome to the forum. When you put items up for sale have some photos of them. Also sorry to say forum has been subjected to scammers so take care and use only legit payment methods. John.
  17. Welcome back to the aero fold, you are heading the right way joining a club. Ask away with what you need to know. Cheers, John.
  18. John above must have thought you had gone all "Charlie Drake" on us.😁
  19. Hello Carl, Welcome to the forum, nice selection of models there.
  20. I do not get how doing "3 cycles" on any battery does anything more than wear it out sooner. I just test, top up if needed and off to go.
  21. Conditions very poor here for June, cold, windy, with horizontal rain and mist. Only difference between summer and winter is the length of the day!
