  1. Not the nicest looking of the ARC range but all were/are good flyers. Will be awaking my Jupiter from winter slumber soon.
  2. That darn Magpie sounded worried, must have been on the other side.
  3. Engineering wise the above Irvine advice sounds like a bad idea. Simply bearings have a wide range. All you need is a good vernier caliper [£25ish]to size what you need.
  4. Some years ago I was on a Coastguard call out to a man walking the Pembrokeshire coast path who was reported to be having heart problems. This was in a spot well away from any roads. We were crossing several fields in our 4x4 rescue truck when we came across two Ambulance men who were on foot carrying their equipment. Picked them up and between us all were able to sort him out and get him to the ambulance still conscious. Talking to the paramedic he said that just three weeks before he had had a triple heart bypass! He said he had been told to do plenty of exercise. Told him we did not think the doctor meant walk the rugged Pembs coast path.
  5. But the Irish Rovers said they all drowned playing as the rain fell, green alligators and all that.
  6. Yes, just need a receiver with enough channels for the model.
  7. Just fold some light use once light paper cones over a former and slip on for flight. May be a daft idea but anyway good luck with test flight. John.
  8. Not around here in West Wales, been pretty much wind, rain, storm, more wind, more storm more rain, even more rain for the last four months!!! Just awful.
  9. Cor, bit of a shock there. Get well soon. John.
  10. Usually they stop doing it if you let go of the stick. One of the issues with rotary servos, [in early RC there were linear servos] there is more movement at the center than ends of travel] making things touchy at the center position. The right amount of expo can help here and some light fingers.
  11. And a Welcome from Wales, still fly my old Limbo Dancer. OS 46.
  12. Early US jet engine power was an issue, most of the successful ones had their origins in designs from the likes of Rolls Royce, De havilland, Armstrong siddeley.
  13. Looked good in flight, trim changes from one fight to another, like you say servo mounts moved or perhaps engine bulkhead moving?
  14. Prop? I used the one that came with the Pigeon.
  15. I thought about running my Pigeon with the original motor and lipo, thing was for balance without added lead the batt [2200 3s] would have to be back down the fuselage at about wing trailing edge, so heavy was the original motor [ issues then with over long power cables] option B add lead at tail. Lighter brushless motor in the nose and 2200 batt under cockpit [ easy to change] no added lead. Lightness adds performance.
  16. Coming on to Bills post above I to have had an interest in early experimental jet era. Although the X3 did not achieve its aim of mach 2 flight it did revile other issues with high speed flight, a problem that was affecting early versions of the F84 and F86 with in flight break up. We have all heard of the yaw roll effect but what was found with the X3 was roll inertial yaw effect. A fast roll at high speed would result in a sudden yaw due to the mass of the aircraft body being rotated quickly. It was only because the X3 had been built with titanium in high stress areas [ the first aircraft use] the problem was found. Fix for F84, F86 was increase wingspan and or increase tail area.
  17. The set up I had in mine was 120watt and it was plenty.
  18. Well overpowered with that motor I would say.

    New Neighbours

Second the above, plenty of Blackthorn, Hawthorn and Gorse on my farm, but a blackthorn in the skin has to be removed with care to get it all out or bad it will go.
  20. DO NOT over power the Pigeon,it will not like it. After all it is a motor glider not a rocket ship. Even the multiplex shark power train I had in mine was more than enough. I only used a 2200 3s lipo for the weight to balance, something smaller would have given plenty duration.
