  1. Not only drone flyers but motorbike's racing around housing estates and the ones off roading where they should not. I have been 4x4 off roading [ legally] for nearly 40 years and the action of "don't care idiots has resulted in the loss of places it was fine to go and sadly I see similar happening for legal flyers. As for policing recon the force would have to be at least twice the size it is now to have any chance.
  2. Hi Andrew, And welcome. Can't comment on the Bigfoot as not come across one. For a new flyer I say get some assistance to learn to fly, join a club or find someone to assist and give guidance. Speaking as a self taught RC flyer some 45 years ago its a hard road that takes determination even having had previous experience of free flight and control line models.
  3. With models of this size I recon it is good to have suspension in the way of the full size to dampen bounce on landing. Axle can travel up and back some in a loop on the rear leg. Bungee cord around a pin on front leg holds axle down in place but stretch's to absorb shock on landing.
  4. I still fly an ARC Jupiter and it too will stay in a spin until some opposit rudder is fed in. Having the extra mass of the floats probably did not help.
  5. Sad to hear today of the death of the King, of Welsh rugby, British and Irish lions star. Barry John.
  6. Discussion moving away from original title is traditional on this forum.
  7. I have an original Messerschmitt-cabin-Scooter as it was called owners manual. Some interesting instructions were given, some quite comical. Quote, Sharp sudden braking can cause a skid on wet slippery roads. However do not be afraid to use the brakes, a new set of linings is cheaper than a trip to hospital. Winer running, Freezing of the hood lock can be discouraged by the application of some glycerine, however should it freeze application of a flame from your cigarette lighter or match will free it Seizure, If engine no longer pulls well and no longer responds to throttle or only slightly it the accelerator and the sound of the engine is different and amounts to scraping noises in the next two or three seconds the engine will stop. The danger now is rear wheel will lock and cause a skid turn sideways and possibly turn over. To avoid this put your foot on the clutch and off accelerator and let the vehicle roll to a stop at the side of the road and switch off your engine and wait until you have smoked a cigarette. You can then continue your drive taking care not to let the engine rev too hard at first. I kid you not, all from the manual!!! Max speed in book 62mph and milage 80mpg. Only first gear was available in reverse [ if system was adjusted correctly] Things sure have changed.

    IC starting

My old starter works fine on a 2200 3s, starting engines up to 90 4stroke. Its lipo just tails on the cable, the clips were cut off and replaced with a plug for the lipo. .Lipo used just one past its best for model use.
  9. I never met DB but his design's have always been good. An early model that got me flying RC with confidence after a hit miss start [self taught] was the DB Rooky 86 with a DC Saber on top. A regular flyer is my Major Mannock, a model I rescued as an oil soaked hulk some 25 years ago. Nick you mention David's TV work so it may interest you I have one of the models designed by DB and flown by him for the Yorkshire TV series Flambards in 70's. Model was built by one of the team Dave Sheppard. It is a Bleriot XI and is still airworthy but only flown once or twice a year when conditions are just right.
  10. Hello from the Welsh coast.
  11. When I first started in Radio Control I built a Rojair Cadet 62 but quickly found it was a bit much for me and decided to put it to one side for a bit and make something slower to have more thinking time. I had built a two channel glider light weight free flight style with open structure wing and my first use of film covering. As a glider it flew fine but now I decided to fix a motor on the nose [ DC Saber] Had a good few flights until I got a bit cocky and started to chuck it about more. Started a spiral dive for speed to do a loop but with rudder straighten nothing happened, same with full opposite rudder. As it spiraled down Saber flat out I could see the wing twisting holding in the turn until splat! Film and light structure not so good then. Rojair went on to teach me more until I let it get to far away in poor light, had to dump it before it reached the sea. Another lesson learned.
  12. One thing the sheeted D box or part sheeted leading edge does is resist warping/twisting well. Not just for flight but for storage over time. The wing on my Fun Gus 3 channel fun fly. Wing was built for another OD [ only sheeted on top 1/32] over forty years ago and has seen service on Fun Gus for many years and is still good.
  13. Optimism is Simons gameđź‘Ť You only fail when you stop trying. Thomas Edison. Waiting to see this one go.
  14. Hello and ask away with some details.
  15. The only issue with a flat wing is even though perfectly flat will often look like there is a anhedral droop. So just a degree or two of dihedral will prevent the hang dog look.
  16. Bump, perhaps Engine Doctor or Brokenenglish might like to come in on this mystery. Or anyone else with more info.
  17. A bit like my Bristol, carbon tubes slide into tubes in center sections and wings. A single screw goes through a plate fitted to each wing into a nut on a plate in the center section.
  18. Former DB sport and scale owner Eddie Stocker used to slope soar one!
  19. Yep, the stuff on "Just Rolled in" is just "Nuts" They are everything from laughable to How/Why the hell did they do that?
  20. A 4 stroke side valve engine, only one I know of is Vega but this does not look like one. No carb to be seen and odd looking bits on back of cam gear box.
  21. Simple answer is no, only thing I may do is make a note of something that need attention on a model.
  22. My old land rover's steering lock is just not tight enough to go around a mini roundabout, so over I go.
