  1. take the on line test, then when passed pay the £9 to the CAA, Simples. Mike.
  2. Hi Chris, thanks the BMFA has my email address but I have not received any from them, I have now sent a message to them asking why. Mike.
  3. Hi Andy, thank you for that information, I will now be able to carry on as before and enjoy my pass time at the field , I hope every one will be the same. All the best and happy flying. Mike.
  4. Can some one please clarify something for me, if we have the two CAA numbers the OP & FLY. When we renew with the BMFA do we have to have an A or B test pass, or can we still renew as we are with just the insurance.
  5. Hi Nigel, typical of all these sort of people who try to govern the country, pass the buck and let some one else sort it when they know they cannot. My flying days are over now because I know for a fact that at 83 years young no way could I remember all the answers to those questions. I have had a bit of a total up and I recon I will be sending about £1,000.00 worth of planes and equipment to the land fill site, Can't go fishing as I can't walk so far along the bank with all of the equipment, what a life we do live. Good luck to all who pass so as they can carry on with there sport and pass time. Mike.
  6. As I understand it the CAA was supposed to issue a questionnaire today 05/11/2019, for us to answer & send it back to them so as they could issue a permit. where is it, are they in so much of a muddle they do not know what they are doing?????
  7. Hi, it is alright for pilots who live near to a club, we are two who live right into the country side miles from any club, or airport. it takes more time to travel to & from the field some times than to fly, we are country members of the BMFA. So how would any one come to us to train us we are really competent with the safety rules, and do not fly near buildings or over our car park area, also only one of us has an A certificate, so how can the other pass with out proper training from a club member present ? Mike.
  8. great idea Gonzo, let the CAA provide the uniforms, so as to comply with their rules.
  9. Hi again I forgot to mention there are only 2 of us and we are country members, no club with in a very long distance to travel, we are really lucky the farmer lets us use a field with his permission. Also as if the police have not got enough problems with lawlessness, now they can chase us to see if we have a permit to fly. what ever next.
  10. Hi, I may be getting a bit forward of my time but I do not understand what is going on with the CAA. All of the problems with getting a permit to fly with a plane over 250g, can any one explain to me if some one goes to a model shop or a show like Cosford and buys a plane plus all of the extras to fly it , then joins a club how can he learn to fly ? because he has not got a permit to do so, how is he or she going to learn. I watched a video from the BMFA showing how to pass an A certificate, the plane was a new one with tricycle under carriage ailerons flaps rudder & elevator, the two planes I have are the j. sixty & super 60, both are converted to electric, motor rudder & elevator only. how am I supposed to do what that plane did?? My other planes are the two Radians, controls are the same, so what do I do to pass the test, safety is common practice, all I want to do is go to the field and have an enjoyable fly for a couple of hours, it seems the CAA just want money, or to get rid of us we are no where near any major airport,
  11. You are right it flies really well. and the spoilers are good. Mike.
  12. Hi Dwain, did all that but from a distance it still did not move as it should. Mike.
  13. Hi Shaun, no rec. manual as it was already in the model. we removed the prop for safety. I have now been told that I have to buy a special cable to down load what it needs to set it up properly. so may remove this rec. and fit another one with no AS3X, We did a maiden flight as it was and it flew really well. Mike.
  14. Hi every one out there please help me. I have purchased a Radian 2.6 glider, every thing works but for the gyro, all it will do is judder no actual movement, is there some thing more than is written in the manual? I am using a Spektrum DX6I transmitter. Mike.
  15. By the way the photo is of a full size plane which was in the war, it still has a bullet hole in the fuse, we fly from the same runway which this plane uses, how lucky can some people get. Mike.
  16. Sorry Piers. I was thinking of the old Super 60 free flight model, top wing and all that, I am just renovating one to electric, with ailerons quite easy really, will be having some fun next summer if we have one. All the very best, mike.
  17. HI, Chris, I hope you don't mind me butting in, but I think some one should have explained to you about wash out to help with the flying, I have been told that it needs about a 1/4 inch under the T/E at the wing tip. I did this when I built mine and it flew great, also do not forget that the original was a free flight model, No electronics. All the best Mike.
  18. Pleased to know that Solar film is still possible to buy, also Solartex. Thanks for the INFO. Mike.
  19. Thanks Bob & Andy, time will tell, we will just have to wait & see, here's hoping some one will take over and all will be well, as it is with a lot of model shops closing I think the future looks bleak. Three near me which I used a lot are closed. I have to use the internet. the nearest is to far to travel to. any way all the best and hope for a good summer and plenty of flying. Mike.
  20. Hi again forgot to mention will it be all foam planes now just buy some paint and away you go any colour you like. Mike.
  21. Well thank you all for your comments, I am a lucky one, I have now got all the aircraft I need, so will not be building again, I feel sorry for any youngsters that are coming along. Also for the kit builders no covering so will they buy kits?? As I am now in my early 80s not able to travel to far I will only fly until I have no models left. It certainly looks like the early end for all of the model industry. I am beginning to wonder what the LMA thinks of the situation. All the best to every one and have a great summer and lots of flying. Mike.
  22. Hi every one, I have heard a tale that Solar Film company are closing down, can any one please clarify this or is it just a tale. Mike.
  23. Thank you David, I just do not think it is worth the bother, it seems that the customer is always the looser. Some one must have known just what was going on but did have the decency to let every one know. Thanks again.
