How much red tape is involved in your planned flying? Presumably some is BVLOS.....
-
I dislike Red Bull and Mr Horner, buy it's not me...
-
"Pooped up...." ...... excellent!
-
That was advertised as a Durafly Vampire? Jeepers!
-
Isn't there some consideration of frame rate on Spekky radios that means you can't mix and match......? I could well be misremembering; and if not, it could well apply to other brands.
-
Yes, I did mean that, ta Peter.

I read erflogs post meaning, for example, an electric Mini is taller than an IC Mini.............. no idea if this is true or not. And I may have misinterpreted the intention.

Oddly, toto's escs don't fail in flight.... he flies successfully, lands successfully & disconnects the power source. On plugging in the new esc....... nothing. Very odd.

No. It's free.

In contrast, my Double Trouble has been brilliant.....

Pretty poor to be honest. In the end, I added two metal L-shaped brackets. One end is outside the undercarriage leg (NOT between the leg and model) and uses the existing bolt and captive nut; the other end is bolted to the front of the firewall. It's currently in pieces - can't remember why - but the undercarriage is still attached! It's a shame as it flies really nicely. I'm sure I'll get around to fixing it......

Many many ways to skin this particular cat - definitely no right or wrong!

Lol. Yes, you're right re which 'beginner' is referred to..... but to be fair, there's quite a lot of ground been covered about what's actually wanted 🙂

I think it's a Tempest, not Typhoon. Depends if the OP is after a kit suitable for beginners to building, or beginners to flying.....
-
Horses for courses - most of my models now have none, but a few have some, on the control surfaces that need it...... not necessarily all surfaces, not necessarily same amounts on each surface....

Winter is here....who's been flying?

A few piccies from Saturday.. not overly ecciting but it proves I didn't make it up 🙂 Includes the Wotty ARTF for any Rip Van Winkles...! -
Forum members' new models: Let's see them.

Looks really smart! -
So, you hold the model in 2 hands, and push it against the device; engine starts; you are now holding it in 2 hands with a running engine. Where's the transmitter? Is it just dangling around ones neck the whole time? Or do you start it, then put it on the ground, retrained, while you pick up the transmitter? (Gosh, I'm living up to my moniker! It looks a useful solution provided proper care is taken....)

I don't agree, but don't want to hijack your thread any further...... 🙂

Winter is here....who's been flying?

Popped out for a few hours this afternoon - all alone at the field. I know some people don't like to fly in winter, but it was calm, warm, and sunny. On the positive side, I got a good number of flights in on my Wotty. On the downside, no chatting over coffee. No pics 'cos unless you've been asleep for 30 years, you know what an ARTF Wot4 looks like 🙂 Now I trust the engine, I've fallen in love with it all over again! -
Wouldn't be allowed at my club - ic models must be restrained for starting....

Yup, absolutely best day by far, this year. At the field 10:00 to 15:00, still too muddy to park on - or mow! Warm, sunny, gentle breeze straight down a runway. Surprisingly just 4 fliers all day. Kev flew his lovely yellow Seagull Chippy. No issues with muffler, pilot figure, fuel lines this time, and his baby 3s LiPo made the lights (well, one of them!) much brighter. There's talk on t'internet of fitting a 30cc petrol engine, but I have to say that a DLE20 is a perfect match. He lso flew his old school ic Raptor, building up courage to loop it..... Phil flew his EFlite T28, which coped nicely with the soggy mossy runway. And got a complete flight from his little Arrows Viper - a stepping stone to something like a Habu. I could hear his heart thumping from a good 10 yards away. I think he now believes me telling him it's a real pussycat. Duncan brought his go-to winter hack - a Wot4XL with 35ccs of petrol power, and oversized wheels. Apart from that little mini-Wot, they all seem to fly really nicely. I flew my Double Trouble - the plane I always take. It needs a new glow plug but still makes me smile every time I fly it. I'm pretty sure I've recommended it, and an OS 46 before. A few dozen times. Also flew my Wot4 with Evo 10cc 'borrowed' from my P51. Enjoyment only spoilt by the plug cap coming loose three times..... grrrr. No pics. We have vids but I'd need to bleep out the expletives 🙂 A grand day out. -

Good job! -
He seriously needs an attitude adjustment! Sorry about your woes - it should be simple. I'm afraid I can't help as I've not touched a Futaba set for years. Hope you sort it.
