  1. Thx Ron, Nothing listed on their website 😞 still googling, several show that they stock it, but none have 16mm I.D.
  2. So did some more running in of the Saito today, starts very easily using the bounce back technique so the starter was left at home, unfortunately the stainless bendy pipe fractured. I was only using one mount for the scale pipe instead of two, easily sorted. If any of you can help me source some tubing? Somebody suggested using some hi temp silicone tube between the sections. I am looking for some 16mm ID but the model shops all have zero stock, is regular 200C stuff good enough? Cheers Danny
  3. I was deeply saddened to hear that we have lost one of the stalwarts of aeromodelling and an all round great bloke. I will never forget Alex and crash Parry dragging me into the command module (caravan) and forcing me to eat soup, god I was cold, but it was the Nationals after all. Alex probably saved me from pneumonia that day. Alex showed me the ropes as I shared the hallowed cross at Barkston Heath, clicking my Nikon next to your machine gun of a Cannon. I am eternally grateful for Alex's help and friendship over the years. An amazing engineer, great photographer, and the only guy I know that could write 500 words on masking tape, and still leave you entertained. Hats off sir, plain sailing and blue skies. Thoughts to Freda and the family RIP Alex
  4. Both are "busy" lol i am sure you will do a great job whichever you choose. Cheers Danny
  5. Meant to show the exhaust, looks a bit too clean. I had an idea to make it look more weathered by sprinkling talc over the wet paint and blow away the excess, but in the current heat the paint was dry almost immediately. Maybe an experiment for another day. Very impressed with Tamiya old iron, great colour. Cheers Danny
  6. Okay so apart from checking the c of g and weighing WP971 we are good to go fly 🙂 Well actually not quite, this is a 16 x12 prop as the new 15 x 12 hasn't arrived yet, I could just be gentle with the throttle, but as the ESC is quite expensive I will hold fire, ordered from Wheelspin so shouldn't take long. Cheers Danny
  7. Shame to hear its gone, but looking forward to seeing the DB Jodel. Lots of models of the Jodel ignore the washout, will be interested to see how DB approach this. Cheers Danny
  8. Thanks chaps. The pilot figure was a 3d file I purchased for 39 Euros some time ago. The file is full figure, but I only use the bit I want. The site is CGTRADER and the figure is by Max Grueter. I have scaled him to what ever I need, and he comes with a selection of heads. He is listed as a 40's glider pilot, but if you sit him more upright he adopts the more natural forward stoop which I like in my models. Eric Strefford printed the head in flesh coloured resin, for the bodies I usually bully a friend (Chris B or Eric S) to print on a regular spool fed printer. Cheers Danny
  9. Seeing Martyn's in paint on Facebook has to have given some inspiration Colin? Are you still flying at Fradley?? Cheers Danny
  10. so I cut some letters, and painted a pilot, didn't use oils this time used acrylics in the airbrush, getting better in three more lifetimes I might get them right....... sigh Airbrushing does make the hair look better at least Cheers Danny
  11. Getting quite close now, "Spinach and Custard" just needs a pilot figure and some lettering 🙂 Still pleased to say, none of the silver has even hinted at lifting! Cheers Danny
  12. Never mind found it, lol always find it just after asking
  13. How are you seeing the archive, I cannot get to it anylonger. Something about adding it to my subscription but the page doesn't accept my details.....sigh Cheers Danny
  14. Not sure my mind should be associated with great LOL but yes I can see the tape in your piccy now! Well done Cheers Danny
  15. Would wrapping the straws in places with masking tape help? I do this with snakes when securing them to bulkheads. Looking great BTW Cheers Danny
  16. With competition flying the flight must be smooth, and when the flaps operate you need to be able to keep on top of any change in attitude with no noticeable pitch change and the judges should see nothing. Altering trim to compensate helps, but i prefer the flaps to operate slowly. Cheers Danny
  17. I have flaps on a slider, and you are right flaps up needs to be quick. You live and learn.
  18. A flap didnt deploy and i didnt have enough aileron to hold it, the servo slow meant it had crashed before i got the flap back up. Stuff happens.... i was able to salvage the tailplane, though it needed a repair to the skins Cheers Danny
  19. Well as you all know my Chippy bit the dust, and as I liked it so much I bought another. Unfortunately my chums at Webbies only had the Spinach and Custard variety. I decided to follow Ady's route and do a respray. It has been very interesting as I tried some things that should not have worked but did work very well. I used Klass Kote straight over the film, with no scotch-brighting, or prep at all. I still have a few things to do, but is airworthy as is, if I taped the canopy on..... The story so far can be found on my YouTube channel, Spinach and Custard Cheers Danny
  20. Hi Hugh, yes I used brass, as long as the hinges are bushed, should be fine. You will enjoy the build but its not a quick build. Fit mini servos in each wing, would be my advice. Also rigidly fit oleos.... Cheers Danny
  21. Thanks chaps, I doubt this engine will ever want more than an 8 inch pitch prop. People keep forgetting that you can use a threaded sleeve if you run out of thread. So that the thread goes inside the prop hub. Anyway as you suggest Brian I wont do anything until after its flown. I tested my starter, works really well ? Cheers Danny
  22. I have had that same problem with this forum. I think the pictures are tagged with their orientation when taken. And you have to remove that EXIF tag. I have some free software called PhotoRazer that will do that. Sometimes you can also use paint, rotate the pic then save, doesn't always work for me but worth a try. Cheers Danny
  23. ? well thats a 50/50 spread of opinion! I appreciate its only sport scale, but this is where you try things for the more accurate models. I have a quarter scale tiger to build and a Laser 180 that would go well. Again that may need a short spinner. Cheers Danny
