  1. Hi guys Nearly there now, had some fun putting the scallops on decided that I would try floating them on, was not too impressed with my first attempt but the water/soap allowed me to peel off and re -position without much trouble. The second time I tried less water and more liquid soap this worked well, how I expected it too. All was going well it was positioned great and i was pressing it down with a tee towel when all of a sudden the whole thing just slid off lol. Still was impressed with the floating on method as with all things practice makes perfect (soapy water and sticky don't seem right does it but worked well and stuck great when dry) . Hopefully you can see the windscreen, the pilot is too order. The motor has been run in now and radio is in place so a test flight soon. The cowling I think I may have a go at trying to fibre glass one. not yet decided fancy trying it that way something new to have a go at that might prove useful in the future. anyway thanks for all the help its been a fun project kind regards Tony

  4. Hi guys Just been looking at a few of the suggested wings (many thanks ) and it seems that they require a radio that supports elevon mixing I am thinking this is a means of controlling elevator and ailerons together ?? so my question is does anyone know if the dx6i can support this or is it time to think about an upgrade. As always many thanks in advance for you input Kind regards Tony
  5. Hi all thanks for your comments so far Robin The length is going to be around about 600 mm , I feel that I am stuck with 27 mm dia or a fraction less but it is to fit into a wing I already have so a change in size is not really an option . Ref. the wall Dia not to sure, it more of a weight thing really.I got hold of a 27 mm pipe but this had a wall thickness of 3 mm making it heavy. One option I have considered is a slightly larger aluminium tube and then turn down the o/d as this is something I am able to do. My location is in the Worcs area. I will look at all the suggestions that have been given and see where I go from there thanks to everyone for your input Kind regards Tony
  6. The result of my error was quickly pointed out to me
  7. Hi all So I am in need of a replacement wing tube 27 mm o/d. Its for a new project build, where do you guys get such things from? any help is as always much welcome. Have so far been looking on the internet but not having much joy, if I find the right o/d then the wall thickness is too thick and will most likely be too heavy in steel at a 3 mm wall thickness, and aluminium seems to be all imperial. Just had a thought will try a search of thin walled tube but any thoughts would be welcome . Kind regards Tony
  8. So where was the dirty mark you saw ? Regards Tony
  9. Hi all So I currently fly nitro planes, am a novice flyer ( passed my A cert ) but not been flying too long. I fancy having an electric plane as a stand by /something different quick chuck in the car that sort of thing. So was thinking about a flying wing but wondering if anyone would recommend one or would you think a plane a better choice
  10. Hi guys Thank you for your input. knew i would find an answer on here. Chris I like your way of fitting with no glue for easy removal. I shall cut up a few samples over the weekend and see which way appeals. John you were so right I have now put the scallops on to the wing and tail and it does make such a difference will pop a photo up when I can get some daylight to take one( dark evenings,, come back summer) Thanks again for all the help Kind regards Tony
  11. Hi all I am a little stuck on the wind shield unsure what to make it from am guessing a acetate, what thickness? but the main thing is how to attach it, any help would be much welcome . Many thanks in advance. Kind regards Tony

  17. Hi there Can you help please. I will shortly begin to cover parts of my plane and was going to go with the colour scheme that Peter has used, but am unable to tell how it goes under the plane, is it a plain white or even a red ? Any help would be great. Also while I am on here to those that responded to my earlier posts i have still not fully decided on the power unit but am leaning towards the saito . Thanks for your help in advance . Kind regards Tony
  18. Hi John Thank you Up front will be I.C power unit not too sure what yet. I have a thunder tiger pro 46 or a Saito 52 4 stroke That will become available but it will be a little while before I fly it. its more of a future project Regards Tony
  19. Hi All Just thought I would upload a photo of where i am so far,I started at the same time as you all but as you can see still have a way to go. I have progressed a little further than the photo shows , the elevators and ailerons are done the stringers are also in place on the main body . This is my first scratch build and was helped an awful lot by the mass build so well done to the people involved in the whole thing hope you do one next year. I will upload another photo as i progress further and then hopefully one at the end when finished. Kinds regards Tony

    prop size

Hi guys I have just bought a new thunder tiger pro 46 and am wondering what size prop to break it in on and also what plug. The instruction refers to the chart that is supplied, only there does not seem to be any information supplied with reference to the prop size. Thanks in advance Kind regards Tony
