5s 2000mah AA Sanyo Eneloop LSD Nimh. Simple and reliable. Make sure the servos are rated for 6v. If not use a 4s as above.

Do we overpower our models these days?
Wookman replied to Robin Colbourne's topic in All Things Model Flying
Absolutely modern models are over powered. Throttles are the answer. Back in the day when the biggest motor you see at the patch was a Webra 61 I did see one in an MR Hurricane. No flaps or retracts but it did fly well. The tooth pick on the front looked a bit odd though. The prototype PMP Kerfuffle flew well on a MDS 38. Mine had a Irvine 53 with an inch cut off the front of the fuselage sides. Good fun. -
If you have Uni Firmware on the rx will that not self tune during the bind process to the Tx?

Slope soaring, an ideal entry into learning to fly RC model aircraft?
Wookman replied to Rich Griff's topic in Beginners
There's not many can rescue a lauch like that in any conditions! -
At the risk of missing the point completely, with that amount of dihedral (which makes for good looking aeroplane) just add ailerons? They wouldn’t need to be barn doors. They only need to provide decent control authority, not make it aerobatic. Just a thought.

I don’t imagine anybody minds the plug but transparency and honesty are important.

Great work Mike.

A fine plan.

I doubt that a 400mm span foamy warbird will handle windy weather any better than your helicopter. I would also respectfully suggest that your obvious competence as a heli pilot will not be any guarantee of your competence as a fixed wing pilot. A bit like swimming and fishing, both water based but no crossover in terms of skills.

Some further explanation required please Bas.

Jr propo x3810 radio transmitter manual?
Wookman replied to Neddy's topic in General Radio Discussion
Bear in mind that when setting up the failsafe you will need to follow the FrSky instructions for the module and receiver not the JR instructions. -
NO. Unless you use a Battery eliminator circuit (BEC) or High Voltage (HV) rx and servos.

Add some down thrust on the motor?
-
If you are using open tx or one of its variants I don't imagine it would be hard to take the throttle setting as a master and mix it to the aileron and elevator throw. Not sure how but somebody out there will.

Try flying anything on reeds!

This is the option you want. It will run most mainstream RF protocols including your DSM2/DSMX receivers. The operating system is most likely Open Tx or Edge Tx. Different mind set to the more prescriptive Specky programming. FrSky might be an option but they will be running FrSky RF protocols so will need to replace all your rxs or get a module to run your Specky rxs. This will most likely need to a multi protocol module because later FrSky Txs have the "lite" module bay and there is not, I believe, a dedicated DSM2/X module in that format. The older designs have the full size JR bay but again the Specky module is DSM2. If you want DSMX capabillity I think you will have to go with the Lemon module.

Nylon bolt from modelfixings maybe?

Cg at 30 to 35% of root chord will put you somewhere near.

Somebody must have one lying around somewhere?

Thinsulate fingerless mittens whilst actually flying. Add a big pair of skiing gloves over the top between flights. Most of my winter flying is F3f so fairly short flights of 5 to 10mins each. For more prolonged flying I would use a tx mitt.
