I wholeheartedly agree with that, I wish they would. I have no quibble, just asking if anyone has recent experience, thus far, no respondent has.

I took it that as there were no further adverse comments since almost 6 years ago that things may have changed. Time will tell, I'll update as and when things happen - hopefully not when they don't happen.

Mazda 6 Estate/Tourer. 2.2 diesel Sport - 150 or 175 PS. Loads of room, a delight to drive and better than 45 mpg. Mine have been utterly reliable and they're good value, particularly 2nd hand. Only downside, it's big, as Martyn K points out, but as yet no one makes a car with Tardis characteristics. If you want room inside it stands to reason it'll be big on the outside. Ian

I too have watched this thread with interest and at times a sense of irritation, 27 pages of supposition, surmising and speculation and little fact. The Summer issue of the LMA journal has a most informative 2 page report by Rob Buckley regarding the discussions to date and the implications of the most recent changes to the ANO. A similar summary from the BMFA would have been helpful in dispelling the doom and gloom foreseen by some here. Based on his informed report I am confident that we that fly in a responsible manner as a Member of one of the established Model Flying Clubs/Associations will be able to continue to do so, eventually without height restrictions for SUAs below the 7Kg limit, much as at present. It is possible that a test of competence based on theory may be required, perhaps similar to the A cert theory, to demonstrate knowledge of the Laws and Regulations applicable to model flight. There will be further regulations and restrictions aimed specifically at the irresponsible use of Drones, how these are to be enforced remains to be seen.

interesting observations. Has anyone found specified or claimed latency for any of the commonly used transmitter/receiver brands? There are spurious (meaningless) claims of super low latency and similar phrases, but no specific figures. What should we consider good in latency terms? I wonder how significant this latency is when you factor in human "latency"? Our reaction time is typically 250mS for a visual stimulus, the best of us might manage 180mS. There are many claims made for the equipment we use that are really meaningless. Digital servos for instance, just what is digital about them. If the positional/rotational feedback for the output shaft is derived from a potentiometer, as all I know of are, then that is not digital. Ian

There are 3 sizes of Deans; Micro, Mini and Standard. I understand that Standard size have an XT version, same size and configuration of pins but better(?) materials. This comparison might help: **LINK** Hope this helps Ian

As an alternative you could join a local club. Almost all clubs have experienced flyers who are only too happy to provide training/guidance in achieving B standard and will have qualified examiners who will assess and award certification. Joining a club might also make life easier with regard to the impending EASA regulation compliance. When you make contact with a local club, most have "Guest" arrangements which allow some flying to give you time to find out if that Club suits your needs. Model Flyers are generally a friendly bunch and will welcome you into the club. Ian

Easy to check, just connect the Red lead first. If it doesn't spark you have the answer. Ian

Perhaps when making them up the resistor tipped connector was soldered to the black cable. The resistor tipped bullet connector and the non resistor one look to be interchangeable. Just a thought Ian

Most of our Club use Spektrum, a very few Taranis and Futaba. I currently use Spektrum but will change to FrSky Taranis very soon. Reason - my DX8 is getting quite old now and replacement beckons. Spektrum has become way too expensive. Edited By BackinBlack on 09/04/2018 19:23:58

The service at mytimemedia and pocketmags seems to be deteriorating. Online issue nly available after resetting my subscription and I don't have my Feb issue yet. Seems to have got later and later over the last few months. There was a time when it dropped through the letterbox on the Monday prior to going on sale.

Another vote for MS Windows Defender and Malwarebytes, although I use the Premium (paid for) version. Was a long time user of Kaspersky, but have recently uninstalled it. It has became too intrusive in blocking clean websites and appears to have compatibility problems with things like Trusteer Rapport and some browser add-ons. I would also recommend regular use of CCleaner and/or Revo Uninstaller to keep things tidy, removes all the dross that accumulates in temp files and caches, which can slow things down considerably.
