  1. Very Interesting! A bit before my time though! What I also found quite interesting was that the engines mentioned were all petrol at the time and we seem to be to be going full circle now with more and more petrol engines on todays market. AL

  7. Hi I use the sponges( Various sizes) you can get down the pound shop for cleaning. Get a sharp Knife and cut off the scoury bit if you wish. I have even used car sponges for bigger jobs! KR Al
  8. Thanks Graham for that post. My son commented to me this morning that somebody wanted to buy his car and didn't even want to see it or test drive it! . I thought it sounded familiar so after reading the email our friend is now a petroleum engineer in the north sea and wants to buy the car (£4300) for when he comes ashore to use it for his holiday (would have thought it would be far cheaper to just hire a car!) So - pay pal - account details, even asking for my sons bank details in case he hasn't got a pay pal account - pick up agent blah -blah - blah He/she is'now trying his luck on AutoTrader! Its a scam I said - just delete it. KR Al Edited By Alan B on 16/01/2013 18:43:48

    How windy???

I have a wind meter - I hardly use it that much mainly due to the fact I forget it. I downloaded a wind meter onto my iphone for I think 69p - it is surprisingly quite accurate to within 1 mph normally. Another option for you if you have a smart phone. KR Al
  10. Hi Richard Franks right - My daughter has lived in Dubai for about 10 years now. Only the other day she commented how exspensive everything is out there now compared to what it used to be. I have asked her occasionally if she could bring back certain electronic items and she said I was better off buying in UK as I would have decent customer service if something went wrong. Eg. for a approximate saving of £30 on a I pad I would'nt like the hassle of trying to get it back to the retailer in Dubai or to comunicate with them. KR Al
  11. Hi Alan This one has been asked several times and is in the archives somewhere. Personally I have used Carburettor spray (available at any motor factor) Spray a fair amount into a plastic bag and drop the engine in (parts) and leave overnight to soak. For the outside of the engine fairy Power spray leave for about 30 mins and scrub with an old tooth brush and rinse with water. Other guys will have lots of suggestions eg boling in a pan of water with soap powder. solvents etc. the choice will be yours! KR Al
  12. Well done Steve I would imagine a lot of time and effort went into producing the article. Very interesting!
