  1. hi guys I've just put together a Bixler 2 and apart from the decals coming off so easily quite pleased with it but the COG is way off the suggested figure. I am putting 85 gram of lead in the nose to balance at the correct point ? About 60mm back from leading edge and a 2200 3s , 85g seems a lot considering the overall weight ? Anyone else got similar weight ? It will alter when I fit FPV gear of course but I'm finding it hard to hide in the nose without impeding the battery .
  2. Hi this delta is a little bigger about 30in span and just needs the clevis fitting , reflex setting , as the Mini had about 3mm reflex what suggestions for this 40% bigger version ? . I calculate it's got about 175watts per pound so shouldn't be underpowered all up weight including battery 1lb 6oz so not hugely heavy but is beefed up here and there . Good weather and we will see what she can do ! Got the local print shop to enlarge the A1 to A0 plan and Bobs your mother's brother .m Edited By Brian Dorricott 1 on 10/02/2018 18:19:31
  3. Went into the printers with the plan today and came out with an A0 copy , 141% giving a wingspan of 28 inches . If I built it that size what to use for power any ideas , just for comparison the Micro is now bigger than Mini on the plan . Bit more room to play with but not excessive might think about building it. Standard Mini Blitz brings a smile ever time it's flown great fun . Anyone else up for it ?
  4. Mine very similar to Rene's setup Overlander 2826/1900kv with 3s 1300mah and 7x3 prop seeing about 220watts , very quick and vertically gets small very quickly . Bottled it and let a couple of hotshot pilots fly it today and they put it thru it's paces , even get about 7+ minutes ragging it . Absolutely love it can't wait to get my A and fly it myself, tough field ours and I'd probably total it or lose it in the River Mersey ! Know your limitations ! It also needs very bright undersides as it's a devil when it's small to see orientation , can't rely on where the fins are to see which way up it is. Loads of fun for very little outlay .
  5. Anyone had a go at this month's Mini Blitz ? Not sure what electric power setup to use ? A 22mm motor will fit but not sure which one , the article mentions 150 watt but not which motor . I have some 1300mAh 3s batteries but not sure what to go for on motor and esc , as it's my first RCME plan build don't want to spend a lot in case I total it first time out , did I mention I have never flown a delta before ? Any suggestions welcome !
  6. Thanks Richard I will look into S3001/4 just one thing when you Google something like that how do you tell the fakes from the genuine article ? eBay has them for a third the price they must be the dodgy ones ? Steve Webb is only 30mins away by car least his gear will be genuine so maybe I should stick to LMS .
  7. I have AW artf kit ready for when I pass my A (soon I hope) and am getting everything together for it , currently I am bench running in a SC46 but reading the thread not many are using such an engine - too small ?. This will be my first ic engined low winger coming from electric ePioneer/apprentice start , will it be enough until skills improve and I want something bigger. Also not sure about what servos to use I know they are standard size but what spec ? I thought Futaba s3003 might be ok or is something better needed ? I have taken onboard ply spacer and nylon bolts for uc and other bits from thread but still not sure about SC46 / S3003s combo
  8. Thanks all think that answers my question , buy better -cheers
  9. Has anyone had problems with the above servos ? I have a stripped one on an aileron and as I'm still under instruction for the A I am hardly stressing my ePioneer by chucking it all over the sky ! Are they a decent make or should I bin them off for something better ? Thanks
  10. Think the Hobbyking one is the side port not the rear exhaust port one in the review .
  11. Hi, Nice review of the RCGF 10cc in mag this month sounds like a good replacement for 46 size glow but I cannot find anywhere near RRP of £160 seems over £200 everywhere am looking in wrong place ?
  12. Hope I'm in the right forum ? I have bought one of the HK J3 1180mm kits to practice my techniques on and am having a bit of a time with the appalling instructions ( tiny pictures and chinglish) . Nevertheless I am enjoying it but have never used the thin vacuum formed cowls before - two questions 1. How do you cut it accurately ? 2. If you cut successfully how do finish it ? Paint or covering ? If it's paint does it need anything to adhere to it or just car shop spray . If I made a bog of cutting it could you get iron covering to adhere ? Sorry for dim questions but only started again after a 40 year layoff and things have changed. Nice build pictures on another forum but he used a different cowl , any pointers appreciated.
  13. Thanks guys so everything is complete , would appreciate setting instructions tho it is very well run in but I am a complete novice with glow motors so any help useful. Brian
  14. I have been given an old OS Max 20 to try and rekindle interest in IC engines . I have it running but not well , the carb barrel has a lot of end float - is this normal ? I think its a OS 2A carb but cannot find an exploded view of it on the net. Is there a spring in the carb or something missing making it loose ? Tried OS engine site but cannot find that carb in exploded view so if anyone knows a link to exploded view that would be appreciated. Brian
  15. Thanks everyone Pilot Link Master was the trick ! Every change now on trim on master is reflected on slave so now I don't touch trims on slave at all . Just stick input now so it's sorted ta guys . Zeroed everything on DXe and now spot on with DX6e doing all the trimming etc Now a big question how long before you get any better at it ? or was 58 to old to start ?
  16. Thanks guys for replies , I can test this on the bench by putting in a big trim change on the DX6e master and when I press the trainer button there should be no change -correct ? Just to clarify the DXe Slave is one model only tx so cannot create a new memory it does not have one . Just to amuse you guys and confirm my limited ability , I was under instruction and every time the instructor gave me control the plane dived , trim it he said so I did until it was at the end travel still it nose dived after a minute of this I listened carefully and noted that I had the motor kill switch on ! Always carry the plane out to field with tx kill switch on just forgot - red faced , not half.
  17. Point taken Denis but incompetent would be nearer the mark ! I was less nervy back when I began in February - A cert pipe dream at moment , what's the equivalent RC term for 2 left feet ?
  18. I am using a DX6e as master wireless and a DXe as a slave , everything works ok but it does not seem to trim out properly . If my instructor changes trim on the master DX6e I am having to match it on the DXe which is bit hard if your the nervous beginner type . Is there any way to set it up so the trim stays with the master ? Tried google but no one seems to have a DX6e yet , anyone suggest settings on both ( got the programming lead for DXe) and then I will try it again.Help appreciated thanks
  19. Had a good look around the iPhone app but there is nothing about trims there , in retrospect I would not have updated it and left it at 1.3 but it's done now. I got my ePioneer trimmed on the DXe finally so that when you press the trainer sw there is no change of trim on the model so I will quit while ahead. Spektrum are a bit naff with the DXe I tried to send a email to error report address in app and it bounced back ! Don't think they have done their homework on this really and just left it hanging - unfortunately it gives the spektrum bashers more ammo. Otherwise it would have been a nice simple 7/9 channel tx but I suspect it's real purpose was as a RTF tx. Thanks for reply guys anyway.
  20. I have a DXe tx which I updated the software from 1.3 to 1.6 as stated on Spektrum website. Since that the trims don't work as they used to , instead of a beep straight away they only beep after a few seconds of holding the trim button , very slow to set a trim. I am a newbie and use it for wireless buddy box to my DX6e so it's not the end of the world but if I have to change the trim the model will have crashed by then. Anyone else seen this ? I appreciate that not many people use them but it just annoying to have to land to change trim !
  21. Thanks Denis by the time I take the A cert ( using a Seagull Pioneer ) I may have enough skill to handle it just never flown a a rudder/elevator only plane and from what it's been said The Answer is a converted free flight model , hopefully nice and docile and responding to rudder with plenty of diahedral built in.
  22. I am building The Answer (Scorpion super Scorpion) with only rudder and elevator would it benefit from using a spare Apprentice Rx given it does not have elevators ? I have read it's quite light and floaty and as a beginner would the safe/as3x help ? or learn to fly first then try it without ? Any ideas anyone
