  1. I am getting cheesed off now. Live on the Isle of Wight and running a model club, I take virtually every chance I can to fly; fixed wing anything. We've had constant rain and cannot access our field, I have flown ONCE since the 7th of October 2023....... I know lots in the same boat, but its not funny anymore...... Maury
  2. Jon I have a defunct ASP. 65 head; i believe its the same size as a 70 ?. Any good to you let me know. Maury
  3. Jon is right. Lower nitro, and close that air bleed. 10% nitro MAX. Maury
  4. They were indeed the best times. So excited the night before Sandown I couldn't sleep the night before.
  5. I have a second hand 49 inch span Salamander, or VolksJager. It was originally brushed/NiCad technology, but I want to convert it to Brushless. The motor sits in the middle of the duct; 70mm fan. the efflux is 62mm. My questions are; do I mount the new brushless in the same place, and put the inlet tube back, or do I do away with the inlet tube and mount the new fan at the front inlet and make a new longer efflux duct; and if so, what exit size of efflux ??. Looking for about the same size fan i.e. 70mm on 3 or 4s. Regards
  6. A man after my own heart. 35 megs is as clean as a whistle. 1976 Horizon, 1977 Skyleader (bless) then 1988 Futabas FF6 and 9. Now 14SG, which is the club fliers dogs doo dahs......

  8. I'm hoping to go to next year's all scale weekend, hopefully. Hope my little Flair SE5 doesn't feel bullied and overshadow by these awesome monsters...... Maurice
  9. Yep, all these tips and tricks sound plausible and help, I expect. The one hint, tips or any other thing people cannot teach is this;Practice, practice and probably more practice........
  10. Very nice work. Waiting for the ' this is how I covered the underside ' bit. I have a Sarik kit of parts for the Dennis Bryant 53" inch span SE. But unsure of how to cover undercamber. Either be Oratex or good old door and nylon.
  11. I have the kit im starting now. I recently searched on the forum and came across a YouTube video where the builder had separated the fuse and had the front half all connected up. Then the second half of the fuse with servos connected was bolted to the front half. Quite an ingenious fix, but I can't find the video. Anybody ?? Maury.
  12. Or wrap 2" wide masking tape round the structure .
  13. Sorry for your loss, and I don't want to appear insensitive, but could somebody in this spitty thread explain what a TF spitfire is !?
  14. So, having paid the £5.50 for a card, will I get a physical card ??don't do smart phones, either my grandkids say: like this pops, easy, look.........
  15. What I did is to make a 1/16 balsa wing tip blank ( a new rib), I then drilled through the popper holes into the 1/16 blank and sewed the popper onto the wood with strong thread. Then dropped Zap onto the thread. Then I made small indents into the wing tip rib where the poppers would sit and glued the false wing tip rib with the poppers attached, onto the wing tip. Sand and cover. Jobs a good un. Maury
  16. Sounds liker the DSM Saphir I once built........
  17. I remember when the Panic team flew at good old Sandown Park back in the late 70s/80s, One year . they launched 13 and got 10 back in one piece....... Happy days. Long gone, maury
  18. IM no beginner; building flying 45 years, but the poppers/ studs on my kit build Panic were a right pain to do, On now and its waiting its test flight. Anybody had these studs/poppers etc come loose in flight ?? Maury
  19. personal request of the land owner; so I didnt argue......
  20. Flying site won't allow drones. Airport rules .And the members We have lost were not active fliers, more social. About 25% will not rejoin. Either infirmity or apathy. We do all can to encourage members, but it's not a site you can just walk/ drive up to and Take a look.
  21. We seem to have a bad run. Been to 6 funerals of members in the past two years Predominantly older members club. covid hadn't helped, we offer training, i/C , electric and thermal. Just a bad time.Don't seem able to encourage/ keep young members.
  22. Is it just us, or are other members finding it hard to keep members. ? It seems after the uncertainty of the last two years, we are struggling to keep members of our model club. Whether its infirmity or apathy, our membership looks certain to drop about 15% of its membership. No amount of talking, cajoling or any other means will help. Disappointing to say the least. Dropped our membership fee to practically nothing as well. Here's hoping (doubtful) for better times.
