  1. Just a thought but in industry we use external springs to bend small pipe I reckon there's a ball point pen lying around somewhere with a suitable spring in it. (once annealed).
  2. Hi all I am getting back into flying after a long break and need a club to join as I currently have nowhere to fly I am currently living in Lyneham in Wiltshire but will be moving to Tidworth (also wiltshire) later this year anyone know of anywhere in this area? I fly fixed wing I/C planes so not an indoor flyer.
  3. Yea I doubled what they said for the silencers as it was unclear if they were giving the weight per silencer or both 300 was the safeside 😂
  4. At first glance it seems as though it's 300g heavier for 0.7hp increase according to the comparison on macgregors website although I'm sure there are other factors to think about.
  5. Thanks, in my head I was estimating that a dle 40 would be ok not a million miles out from the 35.
  6. OK guys I am building a bowman 28% ultimate and hace been thinking about what to put up front in this I want to go petrol for this one but I have no idea what sort of size I should be considering the plans have no guide for engine size and as I have never built anything this big or had a petrol engine I am a bit stumped. Anyone flying a similar size ultimate? if so what have you put in yours? Any help greatly appreciated.
  7. Thanks guys for the replies not only have you put my mind at rest but you know I think I may have learned some things. I have gone with the 1/16 vertical grain on this one.
  8. So the plan calls for 1/16 balsa webbs is it worth using 1\16 ply instead or would this extra weight be more of a problem? Or am I overthinking it lol. Its a 65inch ultimate biplane BTW.
  9. Awesome thanks very much Nigel I prob would have gone the other way if I hadn't given it some thought out of interest why is vertical stronger?
  10. Hi all am in the process of putting some wings together and am wondering.. Does it matter which direction the grain ru s on the webbing sections on the spar between the ribs? Is one way stronger than the other or does it not matter? Many thanks Mike.
  11. Yes I do amazing place to fly its like it was made for it. There is however a shortage of soft landing areas 😂
  12. Well for now anyway noise fortunately is not an issue as cyprus clubs don't seem to be bothered by such things lol.
  13. Well I have an sc70fs lying around so may just go with this for now. I must admit the issues associated with some small petrols did worry me a bit.
  14. No, I'm an engine man through and through. Not that there's anything wrong with electric.
  15. Really! So are the petrols not as powerful as the equivalent glow engines then? I wanted to go petrol as I am currently in Cyprus and glow fuel is like gold dust out here.😔
