  1. Can anyone offer any advice? I am just about to embark on my next lockdown project, a Mercury Mentor. This will be my first go at a diamond fuselage. I presume you build four identical sides and the assembled frame is then rotated through 45 degrees? any help would be appreciated.
  2. Hello, Can anyone suggest a supplier of decent piano wire. My current supplier is winding down his business and consequently has no wire in the sizes I want (1/16" I have found a lot of the wire now is of poor quality (snapping easily when bending) and often ridiculously expensive. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers, Alan
  3. OK, thank you for your info, very helpful and interesting.
  4. Do you think that apart from the electric blade width, the shape and pitch would be OK?

  6. Thanks Bob, I see it now. I am familiar with forming props from sheet balsa as I do (did) quite a bit of indoor flying, so I might try that method for the blade. Thanks again.
  7. Thanks Martin, Yes the plan does have a good detailed drawing of the prop, thank you for that info. However, I am still not sure of the way it works. Looking at the drawing I presume the blade is held by the rear hinged wire bracket, the tension of the wound motor pulls the pin into the hub against the spring, thereby driving the prop. Now what I am not sure of - does the prop stay up in the drive position on the hub purely by centrifugal force and when the motor winds down disengaging the drive pin does the blade then fold? any explanation would be helpful. Many thanks
  8. Hi, I am about to commence building a 1939 Dick Korda Wakefield. I want to make my own prop, and I want to make it as authentic as possible however I am unable to find a plan or drawing or in fact any info on a single bladed folder. Is anyone able to help please 🙄
  9. Thanks for your suggestions, I contacted Andy at micron, very helpful, sorting out a lead and better battery for me. Gave me some useful information about the Lemon Rx. Thanks again.
  10. Hi, I am currently building a KK Gipsy from an original KK kit. I am making it radio assist with servo operating the rudder. I am using a LE mon Rx, micro servo, power from a 150mA 1s lipo. The problem I have is that the Rx has a molex type female 3pin connector, however all the lipos I have of this size have molex type 2pin male connectors, not sure how to proceed, can anyone help.Thank you
  11. Thank you all for the advice, I am going to ditch the throttle on this particular engine . My problem really was run time for radio assist. I will fit a larger tank and play around with prop size and settings. I have previously tried a restrictor, a smaller diam plastic insert in the venturi. It worked fine but the decrease in consumption was marginal. I think the original thimble tank is ok for FF but not for radio assist. I also fly electrick, but as an oldie, much prefer "proper" engines!! Viva the Oily Hand Gang!!! Cheers
  12. I have recently fitted a throttle to my original Mills .75 which is in a Tomboy. On the test stand after overcoming problems with the needle vibrating loose, I have only managed to achieve good even high revs and then a slightly lower rpm at the other end of the throttle arm travel. My previous experience with throttling engines has been with glo-engines, where on Enya and OS motors I had max revs down to a satisfying low rev burble with a smooth transition. I presume that throttling diesels will not achieve the same results as glo or four stroke engines, but I had hoped for lower revs. I have tried different fuels and it seems better on D2000 than D1000. Should I adjust the mixture on high or low setting to begin with? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks Alan
