  1. Good morning All. Hope everyone is well and enjoying being able to meet up again when the weather permits flying. I am fairly new to the hobby and decided that as I will need training before being allowed out on my own, I would buy a flight simulator to aid with some of the basics. Midway through 2019 I purchased an RF8 simulator and because my preferred radio was from Spektrum I also bought the wireless free WS1000 Spektrum dongle so that I wasn't tied by cable to the computer. Until 3 weeks ago everything was going well and my daily 30-minute practice sessions had certainly improved my flight ability albeit only on the computer. suddenly, 3 weeks ago my take-off and flights were stopped because during the take off run the right-wing dipped and the plane veered off the runway. Flight is now only possible with aileron trim fully left of centered on the radio which also totally changes the overall simulator flight experience. Now I wonder if this is a problem with the radio, or if there maybe a problem with the dongle. I have checked all the control surfaces on my Wot 4 foam e Mk 2 and they all appear to be functioning correctly (on the ground). What I don't want to do is launch the plaane at the airfield and then lose control of the plane close to the pits area where someone may get injured. So my question is this. Has anyone else experienced problem of this kind with the RF8 or associated Spektrum radio/dongle and if so is the purchase of a new dongle the answer to the problem. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Have a good weekend All. Vic
  2. I agree Steve. You are correct. Thank you
  3. Thanks Steve. It may be wrong, But my guess is you are right and today I have also learned something new. Every day is a school day and a good pilot is always learning. Vic
  4. Despite having my copy of RCM&E shoved through the letterbox every month I rarely had time to sit and read all the interesting stuff you can find there. Since the lockdown I have purchased several new bits and pieces including a new Slec T240 and a beautiful Laser 180 engine for said model despite the fact that as yet I am unable to fly having never received the required flying lessons. This is now in hand (almost) so whilst waiting for all these things to come together I have indulged in reading through a good number of old copies of the RCM&E and have come across an interesting piece in the June 2019 issue regarding the building of a Hawker Fury which appears to have been written by a gentleman named Danny Fenton. As an older gent myself coming to a hobby quite late in life could someone please tell me what the acronym RDS means? There must be several folk both young and old(er) coming new to the hobby to whom these things mean absolutely nothing. A dummies guide to all things aero modelling would sell like hot cakes I'm sure if it included a list of typically used acronyms and would make the magazines far more enjoyable. Thanks for any help available. Vic
  5. Hi David. I've just looked at the Laser 155 and agree that it will be a great match with the T240. However. I can't see how to order one from their website. Any ideas? Vic
  6. Hi David. Many thanks for the information and suggestions, all gratefully received. I no longer have the T180 but just had a yearning to build one again. I Have a WOT 4 Mk2 foamy ARTF model which is ready to go as soon as the current restrictions are lifted and I can find a local club with a very patient person to give me lessons. I also have a DBSports Sopwith Pup E kit on the building board at the moment, and a Sarik models Spitfire kit in the loft as a major project for some time in the future. I practice regularly on my RF8 Simulator although I don't think it's as good as my old Phoenix simulator was. I really wanted to get hold of a T180 just for the trip down memory lane but a T240 is on the way in the post as of last evening. I don't think it would be a good trainer due to its vast size but as a project, the building of it appeals to me. So much has changed since I last went to the flying field and I am quite a shy person for all my years so this will be a major undertaking for me. Thanks again for everything. It really is very much appreciated. Vic.
  7. Thanks to all for the suggestions and help. I may resort to the T240 as the pandemic seems to be a long term event. Stay safe all and good luck with the many new projects. Vic
  8. Hi Guys. My first time on here so forgive if I make too many mistakes. I started aero modelling some 8 years ago at the ripe old age of 60 and was lucky enough to have found a model shop in Kent who had a flood damaged Precedent T180 in their storeroom which I purchased for half the original price. The plane went together very well and the shop owner put her in the air for me for her miden flight at the club field where he was a member. Sadly, a short time after that first flight, my late wife was diagnosed with cancer from which she never recovered and for 2 long years the T180 sat in the loft gathering dust. The model shop closed down and I never got to fly the T180. Now, 8 years on I would like to try again but wondered if anyone has an old T180 for sale or if the wing plan is available anywhere that I can purchase so that I can try my hand at back engineering to build as near a model as possible. I know it's unlikely, but this old model builder has an @ankering for a long lost and beautiful model aircraft. Thanks for any help or advice Vic.
