  1. Hi Dave, PM sent. You are welcome to come and have a look on the day.
  2. SAT NAV WARNING I have discovered that, travelling from the Derby direction along the A52, my Tom Tom with latest map wants me to turn off left instead of carrying on to the roundabout and turning right along Harrison Way. This could be just my Sat Nav , but I suggest that once on the A52 between Derby and Ashbourne, one should follow the directions above in the previous post. If coming from the Ashbourne direction, you will see the wall to your left at the roundabout and you will see the 'Ashbourne Business Park' sign in the road at the entrance to Harrison Way. If coming from the Derby direction, you will see the wall to the right that has a 'Dales Park' sign in the brick and the Harrison Way road sign below. Hope that helps.
  3. Hi Geoff, Well done! You have made a great job of repairing the Pup. Fingers crossed for some good weather next year so you can enjoy flying it.
  4. Hi All, DRCF are looking forward to another great Scale Day event on October 8th in just over a week's time. The Club is in possession of a number of airframes which belonged to a long standing and highly respected member of the club who passed recently. We are hoping to sell these and they will be available to view on the day. Part of the proceeds will help in our raising of funds for future Scale Days. Please see the outline of what is available below and bring money/ leave room in your vehicles if you are interested. All items will be open to reasonable offers on the guide prices given on the day. 5. Hi Greg, I guess everyone is different and until you try it you will not know if it for you or not. I enjoy a bit of stick and tissue type of building and have really enjoyed building some rubber powered models. When it comes to the flying, it depends on the type of model you build and your ability to trim a model. Just like R/C, Rubber Power Free Flight can be simple but can also become very complex as you seek out greater performance. I quickly found myself in the position of needing to install dethermalisers to stop my models from disappearing into the distance. Watching A rubber model that I have built, leave my hand and fly in steady circles, rising into the air, has been just as thrilling as any of my R/C flying experiences. Watch the Maxflirt videos as suggested and choose a kit from the Vintage Model Company. The Sparrowhawk is a great introduction to Rubber Power. Sparrowhawk Sports Flier - The Vintage Model Company
  6. Ok, Griff. Hopefully you will get it sorted.
  7. Thanks for your reply, Griff . PM sent.
  8. Hi Paul, I have built a couple using the Outerzone plans (converted to electric) from mostly balsa I had in my dwindling stock pile. Speaking to club mates, there appears to be a fair amount of Free Flight models on shelves that will probably never be built and wondered if there were any Control line?
  9. Looking for unstarted Control line Stunt kits. Are there any ex control line flyers with unwanted stunt kits residing on shelves? Please Pm me with what you have and your price. Thanks, George
  10. Thanks, Martin. Given your experience, I probably could have just left it to set. I will probably send off for some new epoxy anyway to be on the safe side and, now I know it is not unusual, I will give it longer to set next time.
  11. I decided to epoxy some horns into control surfaces today but did not have space on the building board to fit a wing panel. It was 13 degrees in the garden and it had felt very mild in my shirt top when I painted the shed earlier in the morning and so I set up a table and began the process. A horn was glued into position using Devcon 30 minute but I was surprised to find it had not set when I returned over an hour later. I had mixed it correctly. Nearly four hours later I lost my nerve and decided to pull the horn out while I still could and clean up so I could try again another time. Was it too cold for the Epoxy? I have read many accounts of people working in sheds in the midst of winter with no problems. Do you think it would have cured if I had taken it inside and left it? OR Is it just an unlucky batch of POXY Epoxy?
  12. Phoned with some questions regarding a lipo pack and got through quickly. Polite, friendly service and my question fully answered. I put through the order a little later using the online website and received a phone call just to check I knew which connector they were supplying before sending out. I am impressed with their thoughtful service and will definitely be using them again.
