Nigel, I use an Iron (clothes one, not a film covering iron) on a low temp, and it softens the adhesive. Then you can gently pull away the paper. Colin

Daren, The set up came via george at 4max. Seem to remember it was on of his 2834 outrunnermotors, I chose this option as being able to run 4s or 3s depending on the prop fitted. Its flown with the 4S set up and only draws 39Amps. Think the prop is a 10X7. He thought the FT motor quoted was a bit under powered, so we went for the upgrade.

I12fly. I just followed the video above, and sort of Papermachie the cowl and canopy to smooth over the lines.....just bit of newspaper dippe din white Pva glue. Colin

Daren, Short answer is yes. Think I used just under 4 shts. Colin

I've built the Master series Spitfire. C of G is meant to be 50mm from leading edge, very safe, mine is now 65mm..... Much more responsive and helped the fact that I could not get it to balance without going for a larger battery/lots of lead when using the recommended set-up. I'm now using a 4S4500, and it balances at 65mm. Like all Warbirds pitch sensitive, but actuall flies really nicely with 35%expo on all control surfaces.. Think the secret is to keep the glue quantity down, around the rear end. I did use white foam board, not sure if this is heavier than the brown paper covered stuff. It was a lot cheaper at 4 sheets for £12.

Cutting a motor shaft to shorten it.
Colin Low 2 replied to Bill Wood's topic in General Electric Flight Chat
Bill, If you so wish... 4-Max do sell spare shafts, just type "shaft"in the the search box on Georges website and long list will come up. if you email him, he may even do a short version for your motor. -

Halfords offer Khaki, Green and Brown. Primer could be used for Grey. I personally use Vallejo 'Model Air' with a small air brush. 'Model Colour' can applied using a sponge or paint brush, or thinned and sprayed. Flitetest spitfire...........2 little bottles of each colour for the Grey and Green parts. It goes quite a longway.

Nigel, Its a metal backed Spinner, that yes I just cut the front off. Originally it came from 4-max "light weight plastic spinner" Colin

Nigel, The Bf109 flies slowly as well quite nicely, and so does the Spitfire. Weighed it again last night - just under 1 1/2 kg > about 3.3lbs

Nigel, I'll have to weigh it again. Its heavier than I expected but the same as Ic version if I remember. But this hasn't proved to be a problem, just makes it more stable in flight. Substational weight could be saved by modifying the ply fuselage doublers etc etc.. Covering wize......... It actually fibre glassed, aerosol primer filler from Halfords and then airburshed using Vallejo 'model air' paints. You could use a 4S just needs to be the correct motor/prop combination. Mine has a 4-max 3541- 1070 +12x6 prop. This motor can take 3s or 4s batteries, but you'd have to drop the prop to a 10x5 or simiar. All my electrics were supplied by Georgte at 4-Max. Colin p.s. we also built a Spitfire on a 'hot' 4s setup, which was then recorded at 128mph at our club speed event.
