  1. Built in anti-virus. I would never pay for any extra, certainly. What I would recommend is to have a separation on your hardrive to store important files and know how to re-install your operating system and save a list of the programs you use. Don't be afraid of a re-install as that cures all viruses. Not that I have ever had a virus, if I even had the slightest suggestion of one I am ready to wipe everything and start again. Which is why I would never buy or trust an anti-virus, I would just clear everything and play it safe.
  2. I use 6.6v life exclusively now as I got bored charging nimh and my charger makes life simple. I only have standard servos in all my planes and as yet none have gone up in smoke and all function well. I am led to believe that as long as your servo provides specs for 4.8v and 6v they will be fine with 6.6v life and the voltage will be lower then a 5 cell nimh which is what the 6v relates to.
  3. Ah, found them. It's cause I only go in to the recent posts lists which doesn't show them.
  4. I don't get a thread view count but that might be because I only use mobile version. A view count on images might be interesting though.
  5. Touch wood I haven't experienced any slow down in the last 4 weeks
  6. You can hit follow at the bottom? Similar to liking the whole thread?
  7. I'm not convinced IC is on its way out. I'm newish to the hobby, about 2 years in and all my models are IC apart from a small foam spitfire that is yet to fly due to my skills. I really don't mean to offend anyone but how many models do people actually need? Yes the cost is quite high but divided by the number of years you may use it, I don't think it is that bad really. Seeing some of the things people buy these days, I think something for a hobby that lasts is a good purchase. Eating out, coffees and takeaways are becoming so normal now. Everyone has a new car, posh phone, monthly subscriptions. There is money to be saved and spent if people want to.
  8. Has anyone tried ordering direct from china? Just browsing aliexpress they have balsa in stock apparently for a very reasonable cost and for 10% extra you can request the light grade. Longest length I can see is 500mm but this could work.
  9. Interesting but what was wrong with the frsky versions?
  10. I think the paint as is looks great, I wouldn't do much more if it was mine. But that's a combination of low standards and laziness on my part. From a distance I think it'll look just right.
  11. I haven't experienced slow down for a couple days now ?
  12. Speed is fine now for me, is this off peak time now though?
  13. Yes, same. For around 1 or 2 weeks now, very slow compared to perhaps a month ago when there was no issue. It only seems an issue during the day though. As I write this early hours it's fine.
  14. I am flying a travel air after graduating my 'A' with a trusty boomerang. The new cost was just obsurd for me when there is a strong likelihood of it coming to harm as the boomerang had a bit of a hard life shall we say. Perhaps in a few years I would look to buy a new new model as I will hopfully have confidence in my abilities but whilst still learning the new cost on same basic planes is crazy for me just starting out. I got my travel air for £30 off ebay delivered, few covering patches and a second hand engine irvine I had laying around and she flies quite nice. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this, what could be handy is if you log your build hours as well?
  15. I am sure I have read a thread about a 3d printed prop so surely a spinner would be less stress?
  16. Do you have noise restrictions at your club? Any plans around quietening it down an do you have a db meter?
  17. That's it for me as well. Only ever do local runs with the occasional holiday which can be planned for in advance with the super chargers etc but there's no way I'm binning off my old diesel and spending £40000 on something new and shiny when monetarily it doesn't make sense at this time with a payback so far off I will never break even. I only do less than 5000 miles a year
  18. I think I use the frsky qx7 and that is complex enough for me and plenty model slots. I can't imagine upgrading anytime soon as any extra complexity is all things I would never use. I think I use a few switches and have trims but as yet that us my limit. I am still learning but I don't ever aspire to flying a model that need fancy radio stuff. Plus frsky confused me with thier firmware changes and as I have a handful of radiomaster rx's that currently work, I don't want to change anything!
  19. Maybe wrongly, not sure, and I am happy to be corrected. I have been looking at c ratings as a kind of quality control? Higher the c the better the cells and the longer they will last? As you say I don't think I will be anywhere near 6a but when other life are 5 or 10 c which gives more of a buffer. I think I'm just looking for something cheap when things aren't anymore!
  20. I think I did see this but was really put off by it being 3c which seems really low??
  21. Whilst talking about batteries, does anyone know of anywhere with stock of turnigy life batteries or other reasonably priced alternatives? Need something like 2s 2000 and turnigy was giving me this for about £17.
  22. Wish I had stocked up on 3s 2200 when they were about half the price. Luckily I only have 1 electric plane, the rest being glow or petrol. It does seem that glow is significantly cheaper startup these days and without getting into a big debate easier for newbies to learn with due to flying times and all round easier to get going.
  23. I have an irvine 53 in my travel air and it flys at idle. I have to cut the engine on final approach to get the thing to stop flying!
