  1. What that stuff about telemetry in the 4 channel rx means is that for practical purposes you do not get telemetry. It does send telemetry but you cannot easily display it, you cannot record it, cannot set alarms, speak out values etc. It can only be displayed in the Jetibox emulator on the tx screen and that is a pita to use. The reason is that through time Jeti evolved 3 telemetry protocols. The first is "Jetibox" which was designed for when Jeti made modules to plug into your Futaba/JR tx long before they made their own tx, and thus has no ability to link into the tx software. Then came "Ex" and later "ExBus" which can be fully used by the tx. I totally recommend getting modern REX series receivers so you have fully useable telemetry.
  2. The Chedworth RC Flying Club, situated between Cirencester and Northleach in Gloucestershire, is looking for new members. This long established club operates from a tarmac runway, 90m by 30m, in private farmland with beautiful Cotswold views. Landing on grass is not available. We have our own locked car park. The club currently has a flying site permit up to 1500 feet for models up to 25kg. We can fly every day of the week except for about 7 days during the winter. We are affiliated to the BMFA, so BMFA membership is a mandatory requirement. All styles of radio controlled models are flown at Chedworth - fixed and rotary wing. The proximity of trees and a public footpath across either ends of the runway tends to naturally limit the size of models that may be flown, gas turbines are limited to a maximum of 120 Newtons. We abide by the noise code, so piston engines do require adequate silencing. The 2023 membership fee is just £65, and there is no joining fee. We do not hold regular club meetings but we do try and have a few flying events at the airfield each year. Further information and a contact form is available at our website https://www.chedworth-rcfc.org.uk or email [email protected]
  3. No, an extra cell in series does not increase capacity, it increases the voltage. The higher voltage drives more current so the battery does not last as long as one with fewer cells!
  4. Mine is balanced as per the plan. I fitted elevator servos at the tail but that required a lot of useless lead at the front to balance.
  5. Defiant landing, slower than I expected with its 13lb weight
  6. The turret doing its thing. It has to whizz about like a demented Dalek or you cannot see it in flight!
  7. Yes, I built it from the Sarik short kit, been flying it for a year, it flies very very well! Mine was featured in the January RCM&E. I use 6S 5000 through a Ripmax Quantum 61, I fly until 70% capacity (3500mAh) is used and am getting 10-12 minutes of flying, mostly very low long passes at which it excels due to very good stability. I made a working turret which uses 4 channels and is controlled by transmitter sequencers. I just switch it on or off. The fuselage fairing drops out of the way, the turret rotates back and forth nearly 180 degrees, the guns go up and down, and the muzzles flash. That and the tail heavy design or wood meant a lot of lead up front and it comes to a whopping 13lbs. Yet it gets airborne off grass by the time I get to 3/4 throttle, and it lands quite gently. Full flap is like running into a brick wall so be ready with more power and nose down. Lovely flying model, I haven't a bad word to say about its handling.
  8. It seems to be quite normal in other countries to lay a special material over the grass to have a smooth runway surface. However I have never heard of this in Britain, and cannot find a UK supplier using the American trade name. Has anyone done this at their club, and know the brand name in use here? For example, https://www.usfabricsinc.com/products/rcaircraftgeotextile/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2GzsV6jVL8
