  1. Quick definitions (extrapolate) ▸ verb:  gain knowledge of (an area not known or experienced) by extrapolating ▸ verb:  estimate the value of ▸ verb:  draw from specific cases for more general cases I'll think of summit..
  2. I've got to look it up yet Myron, haven't a clue what it means mate...
  3. ....."extrapolated the pain factor"..... I've GOT to use that in conversation with the girlie tomorrow...she'll go weak at the knees....!
  4. I've got one  too, but I don't know what the original Phil's iron is like yet......
  5. My 2-3 cell lipo 800mAH charger/balancers are doing me a sterling service on my jet's 3s 2250 packs and Piccolo 2s 1000 packs, but if you need a little quicker charge rate on those larger packs, these little gems are worth a toe dip I reckon as a stocking filler... http://www.gbdmodelaircraft.com/description.php?iddesc=282 Auto balancing and shut off. Tip....to make the removal of the white JST-XH plug from the charger an easier affair and to save stressing the plug's wires, carefully file flat the locking arrow heads from the plug and make them a smooth push/pull fit in the charger. Just be careful with the plug orientation on connection, I think the pins are offset anyway so reversing the polarity isn't possible without force. There's ample friction in the connection for it to stay put during charging, I've done all mine now with no hassle at all. Cheers......Happy Christmas........
  6. ...must be a sod to tin the tip.....worse still trying to pick it up......
  7. Got home the other day and noticed Julia was very quiet, half an hour later she burst into tears saying she's got something to tell me.....oh dear...this sounds serious...health worries....family worries.... Then came the bombshell.... "I knew I should have let you get down the decorations from the attic.." ....Hang on a minute...all my models are up there ......"You haven't fallen and put your foot through the ceiling have you..? (I said hoping it was that simple)" ..... "No..sniff, sniff...it's worse than that.." The Helis, the Spitfire, the Thunderbolt, the Blob, the QB20H, the Acrowot would all have survived the impact...but NOT the rear half of my 20 year old Sopwith Pup..... "Come on (I said with my arm round her for consolation) at least you're alright." So I just need to say.... AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for listening...
  8. You know you're all dooming yourselves talking like that.....
  9. Hi Eck. Mine will slow down surprisingly well for landing and any planned arrivals haven't caused any damage at all yet. If hand launching is your only option, you may wish the first few lobs to be off a slight downward slope and have someone else do the launch for you to see what happens. It's good to have both hands on the box all the time until you know how the model behaves. I have detailled the Tx mixes I use on mine for launching on another EDF thread you may wish to have a look at, it has made solo launches of my model a breeze now.. http://www.modelflying.co.uk/forum/forummessages/mps/dt/4/UTN/4808/last/1/V/6/SP/240531466455200597226 Good luck Eck......cheers.
  10. Hi Eck, My EDF model weighs 20.5oz and runs 300W at 25A full throttle on a 3S lipo. This is enough, seemingly, to go straight up as fast as it can go along so the ratio must be very good I should think. The model flies with a good jet like performance at half to 3/4 throttle really so these figures could probably be given a little slack to still be able to climb out well from a hand launch... That's an EDF newbie talking though.......
  11. Shame about your model Shaun, I flew mine with the Funjet on Wednesday and without flying roughly the same circuits, it was surprising how many times we held our breath as the models whizzed by each other and crossed......there's a lot less time for peripheral vision with these EDF's it seems.. We plan on seeing if we can get some sort of formation circuits going on next time out at say half throttle. That will be a good challenge. I've read that Timbo loves his Sabre and it looked very impressive in one of the current RCME editions on a flypast. Until I had sorted this launching issue, I would never had contemplated another EDF, especially one over a £100. It could all end in the very first 10 yards... I must be a bit careful Shaun, I like the fact for a first time EDF that the Tigershark is £60 with motor/fan or £70 with matching esc. My first toe dip into EDF hasn't cost an arm and a leg. I'm also running a dual conversion Giant Cod Corona 6ch £12 Rx in it that was highly recommended for EDF's and so far (reaching for the wood) hasn't glitched once. My £18 2250 lipos are going great guns and I could fly comfortably over 10 mins a go but choose not to. See, I knew I'd get back to the thread title in the end...... ......be good to have Richard Cohen back on here to see what he chose in the end and how he's getting on as an EDF first timer like me.. I hope all my repair pictures didn't frighten him off.........
