I think most of you are missing the point here with the De Agostini spitfire,I am an experienced builder having built all if my planes over the last 30 years from scratch, and using plans, none of these artf's. The point of the de-ag spit is you dont have a plan, only instructions to follow. Also all the parts are pre cut so building this plane is much more like doing a wooden jigsaw than building a model plane,it was designed like that to enable builders with no experience to end up with a half decent model

Hi You must have more amenable clubs by you,i have contacted 3 near to me and none cater for control line excuses range from other members wouldnt like it to it takes up too much space or your engines are too noisey Ive checked out the bmfa website and merlin appears to be closed down no-one has been able to contact them for about 18 months i think the bmfa have not got round to removing them from their site yet there are two clubs listed one in cirencester about two hours from me the other is south gloucestershire about the same. I live just by junction 3 on the M50. Russ

Hi Is it because i started modelling back in the 70's ? i just cant get into artf's building from a kit is ok but the real enjoyment for me is building from scratch with a plan, buying balsa in sheet form not pre-cut like in a kit.are there any others out there that are still into PROPER model building?

I realise i'm not asking about this in the correct place but does anyone know of a club catering for control line near gloucester.I do r/c as well though so i suppose i might get away with asking here
