  1. built this representation of the Edgley with a ducted fan it taxied quite well and that was about it. In fairness it did rise of the ground for about 5 seconds and then flopped down. I have now done away with the fan and put a small prop on it to see if that improves it. 0E5BE689-8682-4D7E-AD94-6357B27051AD.heic B9473A03-3D04-40F9-98A3-EF2C0035FA22.heic
  2. 14FG is what I use but it will not run older Orange rx's. 30 model memory plus unlimited on a SD Card. Also FHSS in it as well.
  3. Some good news for the flyers amongst us, no rule of six. Just use common sense and remain safe, my club is saying maximum of ten but 3 at flight line. We have sanitiser on the field and recommend face masks, filling the book as well to track and trace. From the BMFA Friday 26th March: England The regulations surrounding the easing of restrictions from Monday 29th March have been released. See https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2021/364/schedule/1/made Model flying club sites can reopen from Monday 29th March. Where a club is operating in a COVID secure manner and has implemented the BMFA 6 Steps to Covid security guidance in full (see https://clubsupport.bmfa.uk/6-steps-to-covid-secure ) the gathering limits (Rule of 6) do NOT apply. It is important to note that after conducting the required COVID risk assessment that a club may need to implement a restriction on numbers to enable the correct social distancing. For model flying activity outside of the control of a model flying club the gathering limits still apply. Something to look forward to.
  4. I don't know whether this has been discussed on this forum if it has I apologise. Been reading and article and press release about a substance called Powerpaste which when it mixes with water it creates electricity. It's 10x more denser than present batteries in cars and also made up from Magnesium and Hydrogen Magnesium is a very common substance found on this planet. It's been tested in the laboratory with success and is being muted to be applied to small motorcycles as the storage tank does not have to be pressurised as is a car powered by hydrogen. It has also been muted to be used on large drones for long distance flying. If this system could be miniaturised more we might well bee able to fill our small drones (aeroplane) with it. A fuel tank of water and a small pellet of Powerpaste could be another safe alternative to present batteries as will with stand heat up to 250C degrees.
  5. One of our members flies control line using a car trigger type controller in his left hand whilst flying the plane with his right hand very succesfully. He is able to set up and then take of by himself without using a launcher person.
  6. This has appeared in a local paper. There are 300 members apparently but also a lot of visitor flyer will be affected. Clubs fear fresh restrictions on activities in the New Forest Beaulieu Model Flying Club said it has been told it can fly planes only during the winter NEW Forest activity groups have raised fears about their operations being severely affected by fresh restrictions under consideration to protect wildlife. Among them is the district’s cycling club which has been riding locally for over 80 years and claims it has been told by Forestry England (FE) that it cannot use any of its 130 car parks next year for regular events. The alleged ban comes as concern grows among other organisations over the implications of a requirement to protect wildlife habitats including those of ground-nesting birds. The 300-strong Beaulieu Model Flying Club said had been told it will be able to fly planes only during the winter months – which a spokesperson branded “completely useless”. He added: “We need fine weather and good visibility, none of which you get in the winter. We have always been very careful about not going near any wildlife. “We have been told that other organisations will also face similar restrictions on using the heath and the New Forest. “We feel the FE are being very high-handed in the way they are dealing with clubs like ours.” It has been flying there for 50 years and pays a £1,000 annual licence.
  7. I have a 7C which is broken, salt water got into it and messed it up. I'm going to throw it out the arial is 100mm from hinge to tip. Where are you? might be able to help you.
  8. I just got rid of a Taycol Supermarine motor to a collector who has several electric and hundreds of IC engines. He was keen to get his hands on the motor but that was a rarity I think.
  9. I don't want to hijack this forum but I wish to say how grateful I am to Malcolm Holt for the quick and informative replies, he really is a star. I have a 14FG and use it for boating as well as Planes, I had a query which I didn't think right to put on here as it was for boating but within an hour the reply came through with more importantly the correct information so putting me out of my misery. Thank you Malcolm Holt
  10. Heres some photos of a Kyosho Cessna C188 that was given to me in a bit of a state. No cowl, no canopy, no wingtips but with servos. I converted it to electric and scratch built the engine cowl nd wing tips. Haven't flown it yet as only finished it yesterday.
