  1. Thanks for the info - I am suspicious of a metal aeriel so I have made one from dowel with heat shrink cover - it's a little clumsy and not so convenient as a telescopic but it works and improves the balance of the tranny Mikee
  2. I want to add a 35meg aeriel to the back of my JR tranny to mount a wind sock on the extended metal aerial I am concerned that it may cause interference to the DSM2 signal Be most grateful if anyone has any experience of doing this? Thanks Mike E
  3. Many thanks for all the inf - all very helpful and we will give it a go MikeE
  4. Many thanks Pete - very helpful I may have to go with the 808 at I would like to locate inside a cub cockpit - I am assuming it can see through a windshield? I hav'nt checked dimensions yet so we will have to see
  5. I am new to flight photography but read with interest the support for the 808 16's and mobias. It look a little daunting getting them to work, record and then play back on a PC. Be grateful for your comments on set up and getting the recording to play on a PC and anyhting alse you can think of for a computer novice Thanks Mikee Edited By Mike E on 27/06/2014 15:15:05
  6. Found the article at last my mistake - well done RCME Mike E
  7. Thanks MM buty my page 9 (December issue) does not have a photo of the Avro, and i checked to se if there is an alternative page in the issue like that - I have been cheated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mike E
  8. Many thanks Mowerman for the info. I have gone through the December addition and checked page 9 and cannot find reference to the Avro update - maybe as I get mine in the post there was a later correction during the print run.. Anyway many thanks that solves a problem and I am on the way to getting the bits and pieces for a Spring start. I going to use the 10-25 e flite retracts as the weight of under 4 lbs seems to be within the retract spec. Hope this will be ok? Mike E
  9. I too spotted the Cof G issue and have written to the mag asking for inf. be interesting to see the reply I intend building this next year once I have completed a series of winter repairs but it looks really a good looking model and hopefully will do it justice in my first attempt. Like many it will be a new experience with the new materials. Has anyone out there started - hows it going? Mike E
  10. Hi chaps - and many thanks ffor the advice and experience you have given. The latest is that I bought a CML Spit and put a 125 Saito onboard which flew for the first time this summer. The idea was get used to a Spit and get on with the YT when I can. There have been lots of delays in both projects for "elderly mother " reasons but the CML flew very well and can be flown very realisticallly except the retracts are rubbish - I am modifying them to see if I get them to stop bending on landing ( no not rubbish landing - just not man enough). I am looking at the possibility of putting heavy duty electric mains instead of air from Hobby Store but have not taken this any further. There are lot of scale people thinking the same way. Hope fully I can resolve this problem and see where we go with the YT I have taken the YT chaps advice and bought a 150 Lazer for the good Spit but as yet not started the project in earnest . I am told the Lazer will need cooling which was solved by putting full height baffles inside the cowl and directing air from an enlarged front hole down the barrel sides and out via a large cut out in the back. The head will be partially exposed to cooling air with the inverted engine. The Saito works very well like this Look forward to reading the reasons why the Graphics won't stick Cheers for now Mike
  11. Hi - be grateful for some recommendatons on the prop type and size for a 150 Lazer which is going into a YT Spit Thanks - Mike
  12. Thanks for the advice Mike e
  13. Hi, I have a Swallow Pattern ship and thinking of converting to retacts. I have a retract servo so the obvious choice is a mechanical set but could go air or electric. I would be grateful for recommendations on type / make of units for this 9lb model which are going to be robust and reliable Many thanks Mike Edited By Mike E on 14/07/2012 18:10:51
  14. Thanks lads for all the advice - what I am looking for is a scale look undercarriage - ie straight legs and doors straight in flight with wheels not splayed on the ground.- from what you have said Alan the new ones are going to be the best bet so I will have a long chat with YT - I think I would prefer a compromise as this will be a learning model for me to get semi scale appearance and move on from there. Good flyingMike
  15. Thanks Danny - the flying reports all speak very highly of the model and is why I have chosen the kit  I am concerned about the retracts and wonder if a 100 degree unit would be better than a 90 which I thinks is supplied. I am going for a Mk 14 and with the retract rear wheel and think the weight will come out at about 13 to 14 lbs.Should have put this in the original would you still be happy with a 125 Saito?I will have a read of the RCMF article as well  Mike
