  1. Cheers Si. That puts my mind at rest.
  2. So I finally took the plunge and bought my first 2.4ghz set. A Futaba 10J and very pleased i am with it. I've studied the manual and yes its complex. I puchased an additional Align R6GS reciever to go with the supplied 3008 as i have a Pulse XT40 that doesn't warrant so many channels. I've followed the instructions for binding and it all seemed to go ok and i've programmed in all what i need to and have a flaperon set up (that required a lot of faffing about!!), The only question a have remaining which is making me a little nervous is the reciever ID does not show in the menu as the 3008 one does. The Align reciever is a S-FHSS so no telemetry but other than that the book reads like i should have an ID number.?? Your words of wisdom would be much appreciated. 3. Its a lolly stick and a servo collet and not what i'll use of course but the idea's kinda there and i think the servo for the tailwheel could be a goer.   Edited By Pete B - Moderator on 17/07/2014 12:43:09

  5. Yup that could work Pete. Theres enough room to do it im sure. I've got to add additional weight to th front to get th cofg rite anyway so a little more shouldn't hurt too much. I'll just pop in th garage and offer one up for size.
  6. Yes its a glass fuz. The original wire went rite through to the tail wheel but i cut the wire to seperate the 2...don't ask me why but its too late to go back now. I think a brace might be a good idea. other wise there's nothing to hold the wire from the rudder at its lowest point leaving it free to flex and i don't want that. Maybe i'll concentrate on the ruddr connection first and try to sort the tail wheel out later. A couple of springs to keep it central would be easyish to do but then it wouldn't be steerable. mmm its a toughy. Why oh why did i cut the wire.
  7. Yes that might be an idea. I've considered a pull-pull arangement but i would like to keep it within the tail if poss rather than having wires exiting somewhere on the tail. The problem is the wire is quite thin. Maybe 2mm at most.
  8. I've have a concern over the rudder connection on my new CMPRO Zero. It seems a bit flakey to say the least. I've taken a piccy of the connection in question and for the life of me I can't decide on a more satisfactory option. The connections in the foreground are for elevator and work just fine, but its the single connection beyond them that is the issue....all i have is a single straight rod coming down fom the rudder above. The pic is looking up into the tail section from below.. Your thoughts as always would be appreciated. Thankyou Edited By Snorbitz on 17/07/2014 08:11:18 Edited By Snorbitz on 17/07/2014 08:17:57

  10. Guys I hate to tell you but its not an eflite as first thought. Well let's put it this way it only has one servo per side to do elev and aileron. (Pic in my album) of the set up. Sooo I'm back to wondering again. Being New Zealand Iwonder if its a cheaply Chinese take off of the real eflite one. Still umming and erring about the set up. Logically ailerons going up when the elev goes up surely will have exactly the wrong effect. ?Edited By Snorbitz on 01/04/2014 07:27:36

  12. Thanks to AKY208 for ID-ing my eflite F16 in a seprate post. It has ailerons attached to the elevators via a link rod (seperately left and right of course). I've set my radio gear to the delta type set up and it seems to work pretty much as i would expect for the elevators but when you push the stick forward it does obviously pull both the ailerons down a bit too and visa versa when i pull back.........is this going to be ok or have i missed something?
  13. Awesome. Thankyou very much. All sorted now.

  15. So I was driving along one day and outside a gift shop was hanging this EDF. I parked and on inspection could see it was all there minus battery so I went in and spun a yarn how my little boy would love it to just play with. The lady said it was her husband''s but hegave up trying to fly. Wasn''t sure how much it was worth but saidvi could have it for $30 (15 quid in real money). I ran it up tonight and its all ready to go. I''d just like toknow a bit more about it. F16 yes but c of g?. Battery size...I''m guessing 2200 or similar like my alpha. Any help would be much appreciated. Thankyou. Paul

  17. It was on the tv here last night. It can be viewed the tvnz.co.nz website. Search for the program "Close Up" and look for Monday nights program...i think there was something about Kim Dot Com on there too but if you can find it, its well worth a look...the amazing thing is the guy who is an engineer who started the whole project off is already restoring another one and its also well advanced. When i saw they're doing the maiden this weekend i was all but in the car until i found out its a 7 hour drive from here...boooooooooooooo. Still its great to see all the same and they said it'll be the only flying one in the world...is that true??
  18. Prince William has been asked to take on extra royal duties. Well it's not as though he has got his hands full is it!
  19. Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Moved out here the end of last year from the midlands UK with 2 big unbuilt warbirds a Pulse XT40 and an Alpha Jet. All arrived in one piece...phew.
  20. Usually the most expensive things come in the smallest envelopes so i just say "arrrgh its just a couple of bits for my plane"....its not a complete lie is it?. 2 new 120 size warbirds took some smuggling in recently though.
  21. Electronics Technician for the Williams F1 team......factory based now though....travelled internationally for 15 years with various teams...enough was enough.
  22. Hi Karlos and welcome.I have the phoenix sim and love it.....its as close to flying as i'm happy to get when the weather doesn't permit a trip to the field. If you don't have a super-duper wizz bang graphics card in your PC start with the various graphics settings on lowest and nudge them up until you just start to get a bit of juddering and them back them off a notch for max enjoyment. I haven't flown at the Wellingborough club (used to work real close though) but i know its top notch club with a great field . and website. Take it steady with the models and don't rush your training...it'll all come in time and the sim will help esp with the orientation side of things no end. Good luck.
  23. Oh yes of course.....how much are they if you don't mind me asking.....i have read about them before somewhere.
  24. So i've treated myself to a new 120 size war bird and having had mixed fortunes with a traditional air up/down undercarriage system before i'm looking around for an electric up/down alternative....I've found a set made by Lander on "a well known auction site which look fine but as always has anyone tried these before....your honest thoughts would be appreciated.
  25. yeah i'll do a build blog......don't expect to see anything before the end of the year though if not early next year as we're just about to fill a container and emigrate..Looking fwd to it though....just about to ask a what we think of Lander Electric retracts from "the bay" in another post though.....or am i being a cheap skate.!!
