  1. YT September Fury bought and then delivered today....i think it was the last one they had...phew!...Its going with me to New Zealand before it gets built though....OH the trouble i've had smuggling all the other bits into the freight without SWMBO seeing it....What the eye don't see the mind don't worry about...thats my motto.lol
  2. If the popcorn is all gone how about a nice big slice of humble pie gents...lol.Alan....shhhhhh don't ever say "short supply" they'll be all gone by the time i get my chq book out. Pity the online ordering systen isn't up and running...you'd have my cash by now.
  3. I thought 4 metal geared servos for under 100 wasn't too bad. Cheaper and more torquey (is that a word?) than the equivilent JR which i was going to buy @ £35 each.
  4. OK OK i'll order direct from them if it makes you happy. The plane is manufctured in China BTW by ESM.
  5. Direct is not always cheaper...and maybe it'd be good to supoort someones LMS....and for price comparison too.
  6. Cheers Chaps...i might give these ago for a change.
  7. Can anyone tell me what type of plugs these servos come with. For the life of me i can't find a picture or info anywhere.ta
  8. Quite simply i'm looking for one of these kits and other than YT themselves has anyone else seen one on their LMS shelves?
  9. But if something is new in a box its new in a box surely?.. Most people use generic "off the internet" pics anyway esp if its new. .When it comes to second hand though yes a picture is a must.
  10. Soldering = Brittle. Add vibration and you've got an accident waiting to happen. If you must solder then fully support the joint with glue potting or similar and only allow the wire to bend away from the joint.
  11. I'll not be buying from them again either and all i can do is recommend others be careful if they do buy from this source. Shame really as i was trying to support a British supplier. We do it to ourselves don't we.
  12. Any news back from the Component shop yet Lee?I've reworked the ones i have by cutting the heatshrink back a bit and looping the wire back on itself before potting it and then some fresh heatshrink over the top. I'm just checking the 3700mah sub C pack i got from there a while back and its the same i'm afraid to say. NOT HAPPY!! Thank god thats not been up in the sky either!!
  13. There's my next model then...she's a beauty!!. Mmmmm where's the chq book.
  14. I think that if the wire needs some support i'll be putting a loop into the wire under some fresh heatshrink and potting it up to support it further. Mine are to be used in a 26cc petrol where vibration is a killer for anything like that.
  15. Having just wrapped my new battery deep in some foam (same supplier/same battery) and installed it into a newly rebuilt warbird i'm now very nervous. I wil be taking it back out...sigh....and checking to see if its up to a decent standard. And people wonder why we don't shop in the UK. We do it to ourselves don't we. Cheers for the heads-up Lee. Plz keep us posted on the reply from "the shop". Edited By Shuglu on 27/06/2011 13:34:14
  16. Title kind of says it all really...i love my 26cc petrol engine and i'd like another and i'd like a my next model to be a Sea Fury...I've looked in all the usual places but no joy. Somebody must do one. The seagul one is just a bit small for a 26cc i think. Preferably ARTF but i'm open to a full build if ness.
  17. I painted mine with 3 coats of 50% thinned dope so get rid of the solartex weave...worked a treat and i got as high as a kite in the process....sore head in the morning though!!
  18. I've just finished covering a wing in solartex and non shrinking dope. Reason was simply to fill the weave ready for painting. It took 3 good coats of 50/50 mix dope/thinners to do it but the finish is like glass after rubbing down. Lots of hard work and a week to do but worrth it i'd say.
  19. I can't help but get an overwhelming wiff of Twiglets and Steradent from this thread so far. I kind of side with Andy Watson on this one. Yes some things were great years ago but they maybe only seemed great because there was no alternative and folk didn't know any better at the time. I'll just use mobile phones as an obvious one. What would the adults of the 40/50/60s have given for an electronic gizmo (ie, the thing you're currently looking at) to vent their views on?. I wonder. I think its called evolution of the species. Sadly looking at some of the low life's and drop outs around the town center at the weekend i sometimes wonder if Darwin's theory of natural selection may have gone astray somewhere. At least the world didn't end on Saturday eh. Cheers God.
  20. I've got a full set of plans (its the full scale wing plans,,,there was never one for the fuz just buid instructions) and nd build instructions....Just PM me and let me know what you need and i'll sort them out.Happy to Help
  21. Once you add solder to a join it becomes a lot more brittle Eric.....add vibration and you have a accident waiting to happen. Crimping done properly and with the correct tool (that's the important bit!!) is just fine. Trust me i crimp wires all day long and we never solder any wires on a race car.
  22. Yes 5 mins is as much as you'll get i'm afraid...i find it quite enough with the speeds involved!!. Still love it though.
