  1. So I have been going to college 2 miles away from an airfield? - wish i'd known that!Edited By Tim Mackey - Administrator on 03/07/2010 10:36:22
  2. Ha, awesome! I'll google maps where panshanger is!
  3. I'm not really sure where the nearest airfield is, we are near where the dehavilland airfield used to be
  4. The problems of people stealing my name XD means you have to say my surname too!
  5. Ah :s Looked worse than it actually was though, always a good thing!   Is that the one with retracts?
  6. Hopefully the next one (51st? :P) will be out of Uni term times Won't be on my college course soon so I can get my A out the way!
  7. Getting quite fed up with: a) the wind for stopping me flying b) the stupidly inaccurate wind forecast for getting my hopes up!    Been the second Saturday that has been forecast for 20oc+ temps and > 3mph wind!!! Getting fed up, as it is I have to spend all this time doing work!
  8. Oh don't get me started on H&S legislation, Bad enough it's enforced, but you can't easily just get a simple list of them all, increasing my workload tenfold!!!!   I could make a better video than that!!!! jk :P   Was the flight in the plane free just to get a good story for the video? I don't know why but I love looking at other people's models, a gateway into different participants in the hobby :D   I like the look of all those scratch builds! And I like the idea of 'you build 'em I fly 'em' ! Because I have not yet got my adult patience!Edited By Peter 'Ivanna Crashalot' Savage on 27/06/2010 19:55:02
  9. http://www.pythonmotorsports.com/fg/electronics/propeakcharger.html   That is the spec of it, it says 3.5Ah.   It looks like there is an up market version under the name pro-peak varipulse 2500 with variable current.   This charger was bought no more than a year ago and I think it is quite modern.   These batteries would be charged on our other ripmax charger at no more than 2 amps and they would never ever get hot. Maybe it would be a good charger to use at a race, but when at home, charge them at a low current to prolong their life.
  10. The point is, this is virtually brand new, and it is wasted money :s we do have other chargers, I was just wondering why it got so hot.   We could probably sell it then, If it is normal operation, to someone who does racing.
  11. It takes about an hour to charge, it says 3.5Ah and 130mAh on the charger, don't know why though. Don't know when it gets hot, It could be the hot weather I suppose
  12. Ah so that was a Jodel DR1051 I was getting worried I hadn't noticed it had an all moving tail plane on the scale 1050 I was designing XD That's one awesome video! now we just need to distribute it and get more people onto the hobby!
  13. This is my point, it is a fixed charge rate of fast (3.5mah) or trickle (130mah), we have never charged a battery at this much amps, never more than 2 amps, I am wondering if it is designed to be used with large cooling fans for RC car races where you need to charge a battery as quick as possible, but not really needed becausehe isn't going to be using it that much :s    There is a cooling fan shaped hole on the bottom but no cooling fan, it is rather strange
  14. In the instructions, it claims to have a thermal cut off, not sure what kind of cutoff that is? It was too hot to hold
  15. There is absolutely no reason why this should get this hot, It says it charges at 3.5Ah, Is this not incredibly high?   These packs are/were pretty expensive and we used them in our RC cars.   This got hot enough to even shrink and rip the heat shrink around it.    It was on the AC power supply.   I can't see something generating this heat, even getting a CE sticker, producing so much heat.   Does anyone else have one of these?   It has spent all it's time in a box, it has been used three times in a few years so there is little to no chance it has burnt out or anything.
  16. I guess it would pay to keep a few spare horns and a variety of self tappers in the tool box, along with all the other stuff! I swear one person in my club lugs half his stocks up to the field, and he is the one that flies the least!   Forecast from now till the weekend looks nice!   Feeling a bit sad as I have stripped my only nitro plane to re-cover it (It's an ARTF, what more can I say!) and that has got to be the best bang for buck plane I have had! (It was free!) Maybe I can 'borrow' dads acrowot XD   Got my eye on the ARTF phoenix model Cessna 182 (incidently exactly the same company the other ARTF is from!) for my birthday, which will fit the engine. No one seems to have one though, can't find any reviews what so ever :s   I turned over to page one of RCM&E and there it was I knew I had to have it!
  17. ah, I did not know ringed engines have low compression at slow speed, this explains why my os 48 fs is so uncompressiony
  18. It is some where, no thanks, I have scrounged enough stuff for now XD (there was a time when I did not think I would ever utter that sentence!)
  19. Damn found the magazine without the plan :s I really have to stop ripping the plan out before I commit to building it!!!
