  1. sounds like you got off lightly there mate i started with a meter long boomer ended up with 18" of tail! But it will take more than this to stop US right.
  2. Excellent! can you tell me where you got those U\C legs and spindles from?
  3. im sorry about your accident i just had a similar one to with suspect rx looks like horizon will be getting another call of me as well!
  4. Allan Sounds great your doing well. I have started my first scratch build now to i will post pics when i have time i am going to give her a "custom" finish colour scheme hey wo wants to be same as every one else. Funny u mention the cap i have some plans of one to but they are not very good to be fair that is going to be the next project i was wondering of course if you would taKe the time to do this? If your plans are in good condition would you be able to photo copy them and send them to me if i sent you a S.A.E or if you can scan and e mail i would really really appriciate it? The flying well not good im affraid dead stick 4 time while i got down ok from this mainly cause the boomer is a real floater i thought it was a blockage in pipe (fuel) went up again and lost control bit like a brown out by time i got it back i was inverted eading to tera ferma plus my panic ended in a bin bag full of plane a very generous farther has replaced the plane for me and after retriving all the bits and many hours of head scratching it was decided it was a dodgy switch so no wonder i lost controll only thing is my reciver got totalled as well!! so i cant do anything without a new one and at £40 its not going to be for a while yet as i have to many oter things/people to pay first so im not a happy bunny but at least i can get cracking with the build so as they say every cloud.......... Pitty im not an optamist though hey ! ha ha All the best and appy landings Alex
  5. try the place you got the trainer from they should know
  6. have you ever read a paint tin label FL/OZ is the weigt think about it Birdy you paint your wall at home the tin starts heavy when your done and paint has gone the tins pretty light right? So the only place the weight is, is on th wall a thought for your day
  7. Eric, i do apologise that I'm dyslexic!!!
  8. LOoKING GOOD  cant wait to see it finished well done mate
  9. Matt i to have a boomer and same rx tx setup had no problems think timbo is right work through that my only other thought could it be a tx fault maybe suddenly flicking to high rates and back again? just an ideas P.S would like to talk boomer with you pm me or leave post in my general chat in beggineers section for me TA rEAGARDS aLEX HOPE U SORT IT SOON.
  10. Doug Listen timbo he knows his stuff!
  11. Allan  glad is was a help i actually saw a moth in this colour the other day and must say it looks nicer in the flesh than that photo so i think it would bre apleasing result. By the way how are getting on witth your build? i have started my first scratch build miss demeaner one of peter millers free plans in the mag really enjooying it too. All the best Alex.
  12. the wings i would say depends how much they "moved"? Can you clarify the second question im not sure what you mean by not in the same place!? But i wouldnt bend anything!!!!
  13. Doug Given the requirements of the servos in miss D then a 4.8v system woud be plenty in which case you will need a 5Amp regulator they come in to types 5 and 8 amp 4.8 and 6v respectivly or you could use a small rx batt say 800 mah but as this will add extra weight you are probably doing right by running rx via lipo/regulator. Flightpower do one the FT5AVR although cheaper one are availiable its just an example regards Alex
  14. sorry guys that i always read things wrong ahhh dumbo!!! My only saving grace is the E pioneer is the electric version of the boomer
  15. Welcome, You dont say if you are looking for I.C (glow) or electric? I like you till a couple months ago was a complete newbie and i am I.C biased at the min but can whole hartely recomend the seagull boomerang or airising star or even the jumper these are basicaly 3 versions of the same areoplane. My reasons are that it is a real forgiving flight they buil straight and true straight from the box and they are cheap!!!!!!!!! £39 for the Boomer which i have its a hell of a model for that money and if you crash as you will it wont brake the bank to replace. And on same point when you buy electronics for your trainer dont go mad buy something that will do the job no frills again think about the propect of replacing the gear if the worst happens! I have done a build blog in the buids section on the boomerang have a look and see what you think any queries put a post on like you have and someone will always answer asap Happy hunting, Alex
  16. Peter, Thankyou for the welcome i might be asking for that advice sooner rather than latter as i aquired the required amount of balsa and ply today to really get started so here goes! Regards, Alex
  17. Hello to all Just decided to join the club and build one too this is my first ever build from scracth so i might need some help along the way but i am exieted about the challenge ahead all your models look great i have so far just got the ribs done going to do the ply formers tonight! i will report back. Reagards Alex,
  18. ok thanks for the help there timbo i was aware that it would bea brushless set up i would need reasoni said a 480 is thats what its states in the article that goes with the model i can only presume that they mean a size eqvillant in terms of pysicall size rather than the motors rating I have been looking at the tests you have been doing with EDF's really fair play mate take my hat off to you. Good Stuff!
  19. Timbo, Thanks for the reply there, well i was thinking along the lines of 100w per pound but want to try to increase this to about 130-150w. See i have become fasinated with jets! but could never afford one so thats why EDF. And please understand this is some time off yet i'm simply thinking ahead obviously my piloting skill need to be up to it first. The model in question is a hawk a west wings model of the red arrow although its finished in blue which i think is nicer anyway. As such it is designed to be EDF from the start even though its a kit not ARTF. The flying style is pretty run of the mill for this type of aircraft i would say  but i would ideally love it to have blistering speed in a straight line like the jets i've seen while i know i wont ever match them i just want an idea of what IS POSS with this type of model before i comitt to any thing this is why i am asking this question. It's intended for the wemotec mini fan which is stated to be able to handle 700w max. maybe this will be able to give the speed i want ooor i might be better going up a size of fan unit i don't know don't worry im not saying i want 700w its just its max. Its stated to be designed for the wemotec a 480 motor and 3200mah 3s lipo, ive said what i want in terms of speed. Flight times i don't really expect to be very long if i could achive the  speed i would like to i would be happy with about 8 mins between charges  I  have repeated some of the info here (sorry) But hope what else i have put is enough if not let me know what else you need to know to evaluate this for me. MAny Thanks Alex P.s have you seen i have cracked it with the Boomer ha a full day yesterday with it and its brilliant!!!! cant wait to go again. And i've started building something for that 52 as well cheers mate
  20. dont know how scale it really is or if these colours are correct but the article did stress that these facts were correct and all is as it should be with this model but as its not "my bag" so to speak i will leave the evaluation to you allan
  21. To all Thanks alot guy's Allan,  Thankyou for taking the time to do that again for me it's good stuff i have been researching principles of flight and also aviation history in generall and it's been quite enjoyable i have to say some of its a bit heavy but iam getting too a point where i am happy in my level of knowledge at present but you never stop learning do you so i will keep up with work. How are you geting on with your puss moth allan? any luck finding the info that you are after. Ref your previous post the L.A Racer i would have to say i think it would be the best choice of the models you stated it a very good aeroplane as i have heard and i belive there wa a review in the mag some time ago although i have a feeling you already know that. I have started my first scratch build now Allan i am for my first ever attempt i have chosen one of the free plans from the mag "The Miss Demeanor" i chose this as it has a very simple wing section and not a very large model so for a tottal novice builder i think its a good place to start and i will need the pratice as i want to build the Spit in next months issue to so i better get busy just a thought i saw this the other day mate i don't know if it will be usefull or not to you but as soon as i saw it i remembered you please do let me know, so untill next time ta ta.
  22. Flew my trainer today for the first time I cant stop thinkin about it tottaly adidicted now!!! got 6 flights in and shes still in one piece more to the point can't wait for tommorow lol
