  1. Ta for that, here's hoping! I didn't think of Mike as I used to buy from him all the time, and have a good chat on line, when I could fly free flight.

    LITESPAN!

Hi All Foolishly I got rid of a ton a couple of years ago and now find myself wanting some. Top price paid as well if you have any. I'm looking for the usual green, cream and silver if anyone has any. One or two of each if possible. I appreciate it's very much a long shot. I know lots use tissue over mylar as a substitute and so so I when needed. I've just found out Esaki is no longer available and I have a nice little stash left so perhaps a swop even? I mainly have black and yellow plus a few other colours. Not interested in parting with any unless it's for a swop, sorry. Here's living in hope. Safe flying all. Tony
  3. This year we lost Steve, of Steves' Models, our lovely model shop owner and the subsequent closing of the shop in Ashby de la Zouch. Great place to chat, catch up and for me I always left with some balsa or ply. Always club members in there as well to catch up with as well. All under the watchful eye of Steves' better half Sue. So now that I'm able to travel and lockdown as eased where is there a model shop that I can fondle a good selection of wood buy and take home? A good selection I think is key here. Or at the very worst are Balsa Cabin and the likes really any good when it comes to providing quality quarter grain as an example. I have never in 50 years ordered wood on line! I reside about 11 miles West of Leicester.
  4. Without checking my last issue or going online to check so I'm doing this as I saw on the shelf there was a white low wing twin on the cover between the war years or just after era. Is that the latest issue I haven't yet received? Or was this last month's - I genuinely can't remember.
  5. Bas, I thought the idea was we always got the mag first obviously we must be wrong! Very frustrating. Tony
  6. Just started trying to fly 3D much to my own amusement as it's not easy! Anyways I made these two mini "Leadfeather" (RC Groups forum) Crack Yaks of 22" out of my very last bits of EPP. The red and yellow one I experimented with and gave it a Kfm4 wing and the red and white is as per the plan, well mostly it is. The former is a bit heavy with an AUW with a 250mah 2S at 112 grams but the latter thankfully with a 200mah 2S lipo weighs 95 grams. I've yet to maidenthe lighter one. The red/yellow one really showed how poor my rudder input was and how much of a lazy flier I was. I now love doing flat rudder turns! Good fun making them and cheap. Just wish I could find some more EPP. I've also just finished a full size RC Factory Crack Yak again I need to maiden. Forgot, just finished a Superslo 28, well more like a 30"+ one really, another one to maiden. I have lots to maidens as I made 22 foamie models in the lockdown. I was bored so that's my excuse. I didn't have a choice really as I'm in the very vunerable category re health issues. Must say not once was I fed up as I really enjoyed it and I learnt how to do some airbrushing to boot.
  7. Hi All Curious as I was in my local Smiths two days ago and saw the latest edition on the shelves. I was tempted but didn't succumb to look inside as I thought when I get home the postie will have delivered. I was wrong and I'm still waiting anyone else having this problem?
  8. Yes you're right it won't do all the Frsky stuff. To explain why I'm changing over to the TX16S as my main radio is because I loved the Taranis when it first came out, lots of learning curves and a few swear words along the way. Then over time, progress, things started to change. I was on FCC like the rest of us then the law changed and we're on EU LBT - not Frsky's fault, then the decline of supporting D8 of which I have more than 20 models on, then you were told to update everything, then all the different protocols etc. So for me, and I still fly on FCC firmware as well as EU LBT and ACCESS it was a God send when the TX16S came out. If I was starting out Frsky would look appealing but having experienced the history they could change their minds next week and everything would be redundant. It's interesting that they started the "Revolution" and they are now falling victim to it. Just a final thought: A D8 V8R4-II receiver six weeks ago was £12+ now the same receiver is £21+. They are still advertised at lower prices but "Out of Stock" notices everywhere the in stock items are at the inflated prices. Tony
  9. I've got one and like it a lot. I also have a Taranis X9D, X10 and X9 lite. Why change? Because Frsky keep changing and all the 3 radios are running on different protocols. The TX16S does the lot so I can run all my models from it. It has a copy feature which means I can copy all my models from my X9D which was/is my primary radio. I'm just learning how to copy. I can also use cheaper (Than Frsky) receivers from different manufacturers as it's multi protocol. The radio in comparison for what you get is dirt cheap. The build quality is fine it's on par with my X9D in my opinion. I've used it in anger and really like the gimbals as I can get a really stiff stick - you know what I mean - which I could never quite get on my X9D even with upgraded gimbals. Weight wise it feels a bit lighter than the X9D, the neck strap point is perfect and suits both thumb and pinchers, I'm the latter. I've used neck straps and trays and could never get one that suited 100%, per chance I bought a DJI shoulder strap ending in a single point clip connection. It balances superb very comfy and cheap at £12. My only gripe and it's not at Radiomaster is that I can't get a 5000Mah Tx battery they all seem to be sold out. I did buy a 2S 3000Mah lipo which hasn't been great, I think it's a rubbish battery I've got. I haven't used the option of 2 x 18650's but I will do as I run these in my X9 Lite. Some have reported 10 hours from these, we'll see when I try this week. I can't think of any reason for not buying this radio just because it's cheap don't think it's rubbish far far from it. Also it's future proofed with a touch screen display. Yet to come when Open Tx updates the version needed. Tony
  10. Hi I've subscribed fora year and paid 24 days ago but haven't received an issue and my e mails haven't been answered. Has anyone got a direct contact line, e mail or 'phone, so I can try and resolve first thing next week. I'm lost without my monthly fix! Cheers, Tony
  11. Well I'm just finishing an F3P plane reduced to 60% in depron so I can fly in the back yard, on the bench is another reduced F3P but in 1/16" balsa, very fragile already. Also have a mini Super 60 in balsa on the bench, again for back yard flying. I'm very high risk so can't leave the house which is driving me nuts. I fancy something not too big again confines of the back yard, up to say 32" but in scale for electric. Perhaps scaling down DB's Bleriot or Blackburn. Has anyone any experience of either of them? The originals are around the 50"+ mark so I may even build one full size. I've built hundreds of planes in the last 50 years and not one of them scale! Tony. 12. Looks really good "Jack". Tempted but I'm looking more at the Phantom as there's more colour schemes. Not sure if we had these in the FAA. I'll have to see, if so it'll be one of them. Tony (Ex Bootneck)
  13. Posted by martin collins 1 on 24/12/2019 17:09:17: Try evilbay, only a couple of £s more expensive............ **LINK** Just tried this link and it works the price is very good in comparison to 4 Max. New totally to EDF. Is this THE one I want, has advertised 650g of thrust for 3S. Why the two options, for 3S, on 4 Max one for 620g of thrust (The same one advertised on e bay different thrust figures why?) and 605g thrust. 75 grams and 77 grams respectively. Strange that the lower thrust unit weighs more than the higher thrust unit. I'm settling more towards the Phantom as model of choice or maybe the Gnat! Tony
  14. Thanks for the reply trevor much appreciated. They all look so good and that's part of the problem! Paint scheme may be a part of my decision as well as I've treated myself to a nice airbrush which I'm dying to use.
  15. I have't read the entire thread so the question may have been asked. Which is the easiest of the 4 jets to build? I'm perfectly capable of building them all but this will be my first "Jet" and EDF model. I will probably go for the laser cut wood option as well. Tony
