  1. wow that was quick thank you top class service !!
  2. Hi can anybody help please, some time ago I downloaded a small program which when you entered your planes measurements worked out the c of g point for you. I cant find it does anybody know where it is ? thanks
  3. Cheers but you will have to explain the tail control bit leading edge??
  4. It should read connected in bottom right corner. This is where I wasted ages trying to connect when the data lead was not pushed in far enough on tarot. Grrrrrrrr then I discovered it would not connect unless you started program before plugging in usb lead. Strange little quirks sent to annoy you but once mastered all seemed straight forward to set up. I am still trying to work out what some of it does but hey if you mastered all straight away it would be boring eh? I made a mock up of where the servos would sit by blue tacking them on a board and simulating heli movements it seems to work great (if all fails we will fly the wood board)
  5. Well for 28 quid you have to try it. Dont fall into the same trap I did it states you can use just a sat Rx but you have to purchase a special lead not supplied. You need to download the software and manual it will not come with it. Tarot have a website if it is not offered from your sales source. You can buy blue tooth adapters and get software for your mobile or tablet I went the pc route thinking there is enough settings in your TX (gyro gain dual rate ect to fine tune at the field. Time will tell on that decision. Right install the drivers first before plugging in I have read it don’t like win8 but previous versions are ok. It states in the manual 3 minutes set up time Ha took me 3 hours to get my head round it not helped by the fact it would not connect. Follow the instructions and setup TX and RX first making sure you select 1 servo mode for swash plate and flat line curves pitch and throttle. Power up tx then bind rx and power up system .disconnect ESC for safety do not connect any servos till the servo type is set. Start ZYX assist program and plug in data lead, it should select comm port press connect icon
  6. HK 450 V2 flybarless torque tube helicopter Searched for a build blog but could not find one with same components so if your thinking off a cheap FBL heli read on. Purchase list; HK 450 V2 flybarless torque tube helicopter kit Hobbyking Tarot ZYX-S2 3 axis gyro FBL controller Ebay 3 MG90 S metal gear servos plus HK-S9257 digital servo (tail) Hobbyking ESC 40amp blue series Hobbyking motor NTM rotor drive 450 3400kv 500w Hobbyking DMS2 6 channel RX (suits my DX7 TX) Hobbyking Roundabout £120.00 with some spare 325 carbon blades, cheap as chips. All arrived within 2 days first impressions looks great well machined alloy parts all moved smoothly and carbon frame looks robust but needs some deburring off the sharp edges. Never owning a FBL heli I was intrigued as to how it worked the blunt of it is the electronics take care of the paddle shafts job stabilising the heli by using 3 gyros to level the swash plate when the sticks are centred. I thought might be a good idea to check out the electrical side of things before commencing build.
  7. thanks phil that is the problem little to no right roll available holding by paddle bar balance seems ok. will try some blue tack on right skid. Edited By Paul Williams on 26/06/2014 16:54:36
  8. Hi to get my heli to hover true and level the swashplate is at a 30 deg angle right. All help topics say plate should be level when controls centred but if I do that it flys off to the left viciously. its a century spark sr with a two servo setup.
  9. Hi I just bought a glow plug driver that can be switched either manual on-off or using a separate channel on tx. I am concerned that should I forget its on it will drain rx battery and you know the rest. it draws it power through the rx. Can I change this but still use the rx to switch it on-off? If I take the red pin out of the plug and wire it to a positive on a separate battery, then take a negative and wire that to engine and separate battery will that work?
  10. Any good model for high winds? that easy every model you have that you will not cry to much when it gets damaged! So any model that cost 50 quid on E-bay any model that has been in your hanger for 3 years plus oh and any model you hate will fly well in the wind at least once ha ha
  11. Hi all I am converting an old glider to a V tail I was wondering what the recommended angle would be and if the tail sections should be in line with the fuse. I am guessing a more acute angle would give more rudder control and visa versa. So should I build the tail to 45 degrees would that give even control for rudder and elevator?
  12. have you any means of testing the running temp? A cheap laser temp gauge is helpful. could be the fuel is evaporating in the manifold due to excess heat. This could be caused by a number of factors I would try a new carb first. I disagree the top end screw should be left when set the setting up of these carbs is a balance between the two screws I have a data sheet from walbro with instructions how to set (PM me with your email address,) I would have to ask what has changed since it run ok, ambiant temp, cooling ducts have you removed any manifold gaskets.
  13. Just to round off this post I have now fitted a RCG 30cc engine to the Sbach and flew it yesterday. What a difference I take it all back Hobbyking the CoG was set on the wing joiner tube about 125mm back and the plane flew fantastic. Loads of grunt and perfect low speed behaviour you never stop learning in this hobby and this has been a lesson I will not forget . For those who are considering a Sbach go for it just keep the AUW within spec !!!!
  14. Well I think maybe some one has found the problem, I mentioned I had fitted a Zen G38 engine thinking a bit more power would only help !! Well I was wrong the G38 weighs in at 2k which is twice the 980g of a dle 30 or rcgf 30 the result was extra weight on the tail to balance all this added up to a very overweight aircraft which flew terrible at low speeds. I take it all back Hobbyking I need a wing loading lesson and a new light weight engine. Any one wanna buy a G38 just run in?

  16. Sorry for not keeping up with the blog for those following, so did it fly?
  17. Thanks guys, I have tried more down thrust I reckon that is right now because opening the taps does not make it head for the stars in fact it stays on the same level. It does pick up its tail if I fly it flat out its hard to put figures on it but that I assure you that is much faster than say a normal circuit speed. To be honest I have not noticed if it drags its tail inverted only that I have to push the stick up quite a bit to keep it level. I have a incidence meter but no figures to relate to, although as you say if I am looking at the relationship between the stab and main wings they are the same. I always wondered what decalage was thanks for that !! Should the stab have more or less AOA than the main wing? I dont know if this is relevant but it also takes a long run to get airborne then for a few secs everything feels woolly until it starts to gather air speed. I have a precision aerobatic edge 50cc that is so locked in it feels like it is on rails I know I should not compare the two but having flown a good plane this comes nowhere near. Which is a shame.
  18. I have a 30cc Sbach (hobbyking) and the plane flys with the tail low I have tried moving cog both ways and increasing down thrust but nothing works it flys terrible. I cant get any information from hobbyking regarding wing incidence but in desperation I am about to try changing the stabiliser angle to create more lift at the back. My question is will this work? The main wings can not be altered due to them fitting into pockets on the fuse.
  19. Andy Hi thanks for your post, I live up in manchester mate. I have a incidence meter but no information on the figures so using it is worthless at the moment. Is there a standard setting?
  20. Posted by Mondeoman on 22/04/2013 13:56:57: My Goldwing 30cc DLE Sbach has just had it's first flights, CG set as per the manual, (came out dead on with no juggling batt' position or adding weight), flew superbly, did'nt even have to give a single trim click!!, one of the best knife edgers I've encountered. Verdict, fantastic quality and ditto flyer. what would realy help is the measurement you used when the plane flew well guys. I have also noticed after closer inspection the firewall has only 1 deg of down thrust built in I am guessing this is not enough. BEB your story is very simular can you tell me the final figure and check if you have down thrust built in?
  21. check clunk rattles as it should and do a nose up before take off every time. has clunk pipe come off in tank? Was it running lean, loads of reasons for this mate just gotta work through them.
  22. Hi all, I purchased a Sbach 30cc from hobbyking some time ago. I built it with a zenoa 38cc and all looked well till I flew it. The first time out, although balanced to the book, c of g was miles out it was tail heavy and flew awful. I removed the tail wieght and things improved it was now very stable and landed without stalling. Trouble now is it flys with its tail low to the nose and almost harriers all the time. Its impossible to land without hitting the tail wheel first. A friend has sugested the thrust line is wrong I fitted the engine mount straight onto the already fitted firewall which looks ok you can see clearly there are some angles built in. I guess what I am asking is what could cause it to fly with the tail hanging low? I have guessed the CoG to be a third of wing width where it meets the fuse and its very stable just pulling its self out of a dive without any input to elevater. it does need a lot of up stick to fly inverted, all showing CoG to be nose heavy.
