A sad loss

I'm on holiday at the moment - I have wifi here this week, but to be honest have been taking a bit of a "time out" from the forum and had decided not to post this week. But I can't not respond to this very sad news.

Chris was a fantastic forumite and modeller. His committment and support to both the mass build projects (Webbit and vintage) was wonderful to watch and real inspiration to so many I know. He was always a great help to any one who asked for advice and I know we'll all miss his wisdom, knowledge and gentle sense of himour. I've had many a fun exchange with Chris on here, either in posts or PM's, but like many it was not until Greenacres that we actually met when he was parked next to me and we "chewed the fat" about models, flying, history, the world etc. And in person he was every bit the really nice guy he came across as on here.

I'm really saddened by this news. Obviously my feelings go out to Chris's family at this difficult time, and I hope that at some point in the future they will see this thread in order to witness the respect and affection in which he was held in by his fellow modellers.

Chris, we'll miss you mate,...but if there is a model club up there where everyday is a flying day and every night perfect for building I know that you'll be right in there and our sad loss will be their gain. Rest in peace Chris.

I really am shocked and sad. Like many others, I met Chris in person for the first time at Greenacres, but he was one of those characters who it's easy to form a bond with. Straight away he felt like an old friend, and he will be missed as such.

My condolences to those he leaves behind.

i have not had the pleasure of communicating with Big Bandit either electronically or in person but have read quite a few of his articles and comments on this forum. I too would like to add my condolences to all who knew him in what appears to have been a sudden and unexpected bereavement.

I was very shocked to hear we have lost Chris ,we spoke quite recently about some vintage diesel motors that I was getting ready to send but they will now become a permanent reminder of a true aero modeller who was kindly ,generous, and a gentleman.

My deepest sympathies to his family and close friends.

Just caught up with the news.

Everything that I can say has already been said. I'll miss Chris, although I had met him only once (at Greenacres), I felt that (through the forum) we had become very good friends.

I'll miss his banter, his advice and encouragement.

My sincere consolences to the family.

I'm really taken aback by this news. Its only a week or so since I sent him a scan of the Druine Turbulent build article from RCM&E. In the PMs we exchanged he came across as a really genuine person and I was looking forward to seeing how he approached the build. My condolences and prayers go to his family and friends.

Very sad news, I hope that all the good memories of this bloke, keep his family in comfort, and that all the good he did for friends, family, and strangers, be a great legacy to others.

Condolences to all that were close to him.

I never met or spoke to Big Bandit, but he posted me a "keep em clean" only a few weeks back, after my jokes (and i agree) were inappropriate for this sight. Thats how i will remember him, no face, no voice or handshake, just a reminder that this site is for modellers young and old.

We built Sharkface together, a few days back I received a plan for Bazz Bomb, which we wanted to build together as well... Great, patient supporter, great modeller... I didn't know him very well, but we shared a few pm's and letters... Great loss which makes me speechless... Condolences to the family...

Rest in peace Chris...
