Pick a plane 2008!

Recommended Posts

Hi David

My suggestion is let's have something which is not easy to get as ARTF. I feel if you are going to the trouble of building from scratch, pick something a bit different, so.....

1. Miles Magister (.46 size ic)

2. JU88 (running on a reasonable cost electric 3s 2300mAh size pack)

3. Fairey Fulmar (.46 size ic)

 Thanks

Hi Folks,

most of the suggestions up to now have been done before and some done to death, do we want just another Spitfire or Hurricane or yet another P38 or Mustang plan? there are many British aircraft that never get a mention like the Manchester, Lincoln and the Sturgeon.

Some German aircraft are also rarely done with everyone going for the 109, 190, 110 or 262, ever heard of a Fw 187? the cockpit was so small there was a limit on the size of the pilot and the instruments were in the side of the engine nacelles.

I searched everywhere for accurate Me410 plans but couldnt find any so I took a good 3-view and enlarged it and presently am working on designing my own airframe at 1:12th scale.

Whatever we decide lets have something DIFFERENT to all the other mags,  my three choices?-

Misubishi J2M2 'Raiden'.

Arado 240.

MY  favourite - Dornier P.254 (Do 435)single prop baby version of the 335.

                 regards,          Terry

Top of my list is the DeHavilland Sea Vixen. I'd be quite happy if it had a glow engine on the front like Tony's Vampire - only 50% bigger. On the other hand a ducted fan (or two)would be okay as long as it really does deliver the required thrust.

Next up is something a bit more tricky, the Gloster Javelin. It's a delta for a change which would be nice, comments re size & power as above. There is a problem with the Javelin in regard to the delta wing sheilding the raised tailplane/elevator that can make a flat stall impossible to get out of, so if that would be too adventurous then I would replace this option with the Avro Vulcan.

Finaly I list the Bae Harrier and again if that is just too complicated then I would substitute this entry with the Supermarine SB6 with optional floats/wheels.

Whatever the winner, it should be an all weather aircraft, (Harrier being an exception though) with good manners and has such scale presence that "wow" is an understatement.
