McG 6969
I guess nobody understands Fernando's decision. From aiming to win races/titles since his come-back, he switches to the 9th team of the constructors rankings. It is believed that Alpine's Otmar and he weren't the best 'friends'. In addition, he wanted a multi-year deal but Alpine (Rossi) only wanted to give him a one-year deal. Ocon's handling/obstruction during the Hungary GP seems to have been the 'drop too much'. Anyhow, his decision seems to be a '$olid retirement plan'. "El Plan"??? Looking forward to the Stroll Sr vs. Alonso 'battles'... and good luck to Junior... John Privett
Evening all! There's a Bank Holiday weekend - in the UK at least - ahead of us, and it's also the end of the F1 Summer Break. P1 and P2 have already taken place at Spa, so it's time for the customary reminder; Don't forget your predictions! P1 was disrupted by rain and saw Sainz setting fastest time ahead of Leclerc, with Verstappen third and Russell fourth. P2 also saw some rain, with Verstappen setting fastest time with Leclerc second again and Norris third. Note that Verstappen and Leclerc are taking penalties for too many engine replacemtn parts and will start from near the back of the grid. Norris, Bottas, Ocon and Schumacher are also taking engine penalties. Better weather is anticipated for tomorrow and Sunday, with P3 at noon and qualifying at 3pm tomorrow (UK times.) Sunday's race is at 2pm. Edited August 26, 2022 by John Privett typos! 1
McG 6969
Thanks once more, John P. As it is my 'home' GP, I guess I shouldn't expect too much of it... We'll see... Best of luck to you all. Chris

John Privett
Evening all! Vandvoort this weekend, so first the customary reminder; Don't forget your predictions! Mercedes seem to have bounced back somewhat at Zandvoort, and headed P1, with Russell setting the fastest time and Hamilton 0.240 seconds behind. Sainz was third with Norris and Ricciardo next and Leclerc 6th. Perez was 7th with Verstappen 19th having completed only 7 laps. P2 saw the Ferraris on top, Leclerc ahead of Sainz, with Hamilton next followed by Norris, then Russell. Verstappen was 8th, with Perez 12th. P3 is at 11am (UK-time) tomorrow, with qualifying at 2pm and the race at 2pm on Sunday. Good luck everybody! 2

John In stark contrast, while I was watching it, I was convinced I'd be scoring badly! I know the track is supposed to limit overtaking (seems like 90% of tracks do!) but I like it. Also like the light entertainment provided by Ferrari and Alpha Tauri....... I have absolutely no idea what Ferrari can do to make things better - seemingly, neither do they! At least CL finally got back on the podium. MV is certainly peerless this year, a perfect match of man and machinery, much as it pains me to say.
McG 6969
Thank you, gents. Congrats to GrumpyG and Simon as well. Same as Grumpy, when calculating my points I was convinced that it would be a genuine 'mid-field' result with just around 150 pts. Big surprise when discovering that our League colleagues didn't handle it better... John Privett
Evening all, Monza this weekend - 'home ground' for Ferrari, and the world’s third-oldest permanent racetrack, after Brooklands and Indianapolis. Monza celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. But first, the customary reminder; Don't forget your predictions! P1 went very much Ferrari's way, Leclerc setting fastest time with Sainz just 0.077 seconds slower. The Mercedes duo were next, Russell faster than Hamilton, followed by Verstappen and then the two Alpines. P2 saw Sainz setting fastest time, with Leclerc third and Verstappen separating the two Ferraris. Norris was 4th ahead of Russell, then Perez and Hamilton. Bear in mind that there are grid penalties, mostly for engine/gearbox replacements, for several drivers this weekend. Verstappen takes a 5-place penlty, Perez a 10-place penalty, and Bottas a 15-place penalty - whilst Hamilton, Sainz and Tsunoda will all start from the back of the grid. P3 is at noon, UK-time tomorrow, followed by qualifying at 3pm. Sunday's race is at 2pm. Good luck, everyone! 1
McG 6969
Thanks once more, John. Quite hectic to go for predictions with all those penalties, I guess.
